The organised labour warned the 36 state governors yesterday of the dire consequences of any attempt on their part to review downward, the existing national minimum wage. Labour’s warning came on the heels of the declaration by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum after their Thursday meeting in Abuja, that the current minimum wage was no longer sustainable. Thus they voiced the possibility of reviewing the wage regime, in line with the dwindling revenue from the Federation Account to the states. According to the governors, the massive drop in global oil prices in recent times had to a large extent aͿected the income of their states.
