The Kittitas County Fair and Ellensburg Rodeo are enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. People from across the state of Washington and beyond travel to celebrate in Kittitas County, and are happy to be a part of our celebration learning about the beautiful place we all call home. Walking through the barns you are sure to meet some of Kittitas County’s youth who participate in 4-H, FFA, and Youth Grange. Meeting one of these members will leave you with an appreciation for our County’s agricultural culture. They are not only dedicated to raising livestock and other a ivities, but teaching others about it as well. There is no shortage of entertainment available either. Make sure to enjoy the many shows, entertainers, and carnival rides. While you are there make sure to attend the World Famous Ellensburg Rodeo that is rated one of the top ten rodeos in the nation.TheKittitas County Fair and Ellensburg Rodeo would not be possible without the efforts of the Fair Board and Rodeo Board Dire ors. They put in an incredible about of time to ensure the community has an event we can look forward to each year. While we enjoy these events on Labor Day Weekend they are working year-round to produce the event that is a part of Kittitas County tradition. Take time to visit the buildings and attra ions, we have something for everyone at the Kittitas County Fair. From the midways rides to the livestock barns, we showcase it all. There is no reason not to make a weekend of it celebrating with us at the Fair. Thursday will be our community day at the fair with Super One Foods sponsoring their long standing community lunch. Friday we will host our Livestock Market Sale, please come support our hard working youth, this sale is one of the highest grossing sales in the state. Thanks to our community partners in supporting our youth livestock members. Saturday, enjoy the parade and spend your day watching youth fitting and showing classes, admiring the hard work and talents of our community members in the home arts and armory, and get a tasty pickle in Frontier Village. End the night under the stars at the Ellensburg Rodeo Extreme Bulls finals and don’t forget that elephant ear. Sunday, take in our lineup of great entertainment both onstage and roving throughout the grounds. All weekend we will have an arrangement of exceptional entertainment a s on our stage and roving the grounds that you will not want to miss. On Monday, finish a great Labor Day Weekend at the fair with more fair food, a ferris wheel ride, and shop at one of our many commercial vendors. Our great team of dire ors, volunteers, superintendents, and office staff have worked year round to welcome you through our gates and provide the best in family fun and entertainment. If you see a fair volunteer or staff worker, please thank them for their hard work in making our fair great. We look forward to welcoming you to another fantastic Labor Day Weekend experience. The Abby Smith Band is a Rockabilly band out of Ellensburg WA. With their up-beat retro sound, e Abby Smith Band gets you out on the dance oor. e band leader, Abby Smith has been performing since she was 13 when her mother got her started in an Andrews Sisters tribute band with her sister and friend. Since then, Abby has been entertaining her community with her classic 1950’s Rockabilly music. She also has made appearances performing with the Dusty 45’s at e Tractor Tavern, Triple Door, and other music venues in Seattle.
Abby’s biggest inspirations for her original songs are Elvis, Brenda Lee and Hank Williams. Her band mates Tyler Leavitt, Riley Schmit and Ted Easton are also incredibly talented musicians who have been in the entertainment industry for many years. Now a crowd favorite, the Ellensburg Big Band returns having performed annually for the past 10 years at the Kittitas County Fair. Since it’s founding in 2011 the group has provided live big band swing music all over the state and internationally in Japan and New Zealand. Featuring skilled vocalists and instrumental soloists the band is sure to get you up on your feet or clapping and tapping to the beat from your chair. Specializing in swing jazz from the days of the great dance bands of the 40’s and 50’s, the band also performs a wide variety of big band tunes from Latin to blues and rock. Eric Buss was born in Tucson, Arizona. When he was born, the doctors all laughed at him. at laughter gave Eric a rush, and at the age of seven seconds he knew he wanted to make people laugh when he grew up… Later at the ripe age of 8, he learned how to tinker in his dad’s workshop. en, at age 16, he started learning magic. When he successfully merged his passion for building with his magical skills he knew right then and there (ac cording to this Bio) that he wanted to be a professional comedy magician who would build his own original props. He has never looked back. Although most would agree that his gadgets are totally awesome, it’s Eric’s personality that wins audiences over. His high-energy, and hilarious act has been called, “Pure Art, Pure Madness!” It combines crazy inventions and Eric’s high-octane sugar rush of comedy into a non-stop ride of mischief and magical gadgetry that most people could never imagine. Eric not only imagined it, he turned it into an award-winning act that he has performed around the world and on “ e Late Show” with David Letterman. In fact, Letterman called his performance “Tremendous and sensational!” And, as 10 million people watched, he managed to win over one of the most di cult audiences in television- the audience of “America’s Got Talent.” Eric’s most well known, yet non-magical contraption is his Bubble Wrap Bike. After his bike video on YouTube went viral, news and TV shows all over the world picked up the footage. Jimmy Kimmel liked it so much he had his sidekick Guillermo ride Eric’s bike on the show. A Second City Comedy School gradu ate, he has performed on ve continents and on TV in seven countries, including a one-hour Korean television special solely dedicated to his performance. Other career highlights include winning rst prize on SyFy’s “Wizard Wars,” opening for William Shatner at the “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival in Mon treal, entertaining U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and appearing at Japan’s “Daidogie” festival – one of the world’s largest perform ing arts festivals of its kind.

Melany Peterson, a beautiful, humble, southern spirit in song and mind, says, “Singing is what I do and just let me do my ‘thang’.” Vocalist Melany Peterson grew up listening to Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Jerry Butler, Isaac Hayes, and Aretha Franklin. At the age of 12, Melany’s edgling interest in singing took ight inside her hometown church in Charleston, SC where she would often be caught alone playing the piano and singing her favorite tunes. Melany’s singing took o , professionally, in 1982 with the Charleston Actors eatre Society. First sharing her gift of song at the Garden eatre in Charleston, SC., she then made a name for herself singing with the band Sea Breeze and by joining a gospel group, “Voices of Deliverance” which performed traditional spirituals and psalms. Today, this “Song Bird of the South” is the key vocalist of the Mel Peterson Collective, e Mel and Dre’ Show, Blush and e Mel Peterson Gospel Ensemble which performs a fusion of Contemporary-pop, Jazz standards, Gospel, and R & B classics. You can catch her performing at Swiftwater Cellars in Cle Elum and Sigillo Cellars in Lake Chelan and Snoqualmie. Also, various wineries all over the Kittitas and Yakima Valleys, including Benton County. If you’re lucky, she may be playing a private party you’re attending. Making Ellensburg her new home for the past 12 years, Mel has gathered Ellensburg musical talent to strike the heart of those who love music.
