Electoral Amendment Bill: Buhari not opposed to card readers – Presidency

Says refusal to give assent due to draft flaws

The Presidency has disclosed that the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to append his signature on the Electoral Amendment Bill will in no way affect the use of card readers in the 2019 elections. It added that contrary to allegations by

opposition politicians and their cohorts, Buhari’s refusal to give assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, 2018 was not as a result of objection to e-voting but because of draft flaws which have been transmitted to the National Assembly for correction.
