day by Malabu Oil to join as respondent to the applications by Shell Oil Exploration Nigeria Ltd and AGIP Oil to vacate the order of forfeiture of OPL 245 oil bloc, stalled the ruling of the federal high court, Abuja. Shell Oil Exploration Nigeria Ltd and AGIP Oil had last month
urged the court to vacate the temporary forfeiture of the Oil Prospective Licence (OPL) 245 bloc to the federal government. Recall that Justice John Tsoho had on January 26, 2017, granted the forfeiture order following an ex-parte application brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The judge had last month reserved ruling for yesterday after listening to counsel representing
the two oil giants, who sought to vacate the order, and EFCC. But at the resumed hearing, yesterday, the ruling could not go on because of three fresh applications filed by Malabu Oil, principally seeking to be joined in the matter as well as for an opportunity to be a party in the already heard applications filed by Shell and AGIP.
