Inflation drops to 11.61 per cent in May Mathew Dadiya, Abuja The monthly inflationary report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown that the Nigeria’s inflation for the month of May 2018 has declined to 11.61 year- on- year. Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures inflation indicated a 0.87 percent points less than the rate recorded in April 2018 (13.34 percent) and represented the 16th
consecutive disinflation since January 2017. The NBS, in its report released on Wednesday, stated that the increases were recorded in all COICOP divisions that yield the Headline Index. On a month-on-month basis, the Headline index increased by 1.09 percent in May 2018, up by 0.26 percent points from the rate recorded in April 2018. Continued on page 4
