WEEK 3 READING: LEGER,LE CORBUSIER,AND PURISM

MARIO’S WORLD

Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words)

PictorIal space is that which can not be entered or circulated through; it is irremediably space viewed from a distance, and is therefore eternally resigned to frontality.

Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words)

The flatness of the Le Corbusier patinting’s are attributed to shape and line. what these pitted against are secondary qualities for color and texture. The depth of objective can be represented by different colors, shadings and comparision,which Le Corbusie is avoiding. Second Mario’s World

COMBINED MARIO’S WORLD

The first and second grond layers combined together.Trains,tracks and addithional decorations are added.The linkage between those two layers are drawn to connect two worlds together. Several mini islands which are in construction are provided, for giving more space for Mario.

The projection of the first ground in pencil from the original image, set up at 45 degree and use 2H,2B,HB pencil to project.

WEEK 4 READING: AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) The difference between the projection and the perspective space is that the distance between the projection center and the projection plane is finite, while the distance between the projection center of the parallel projection and the projection plane is infinite. As for projction,it contains fixed point of view of new world,whereas perspective space records real information exisisted already.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) In 1925,from El Lissitzky,it was first arise at military context. Reasons: 1.trajectories of artillery projectiles(three dimentinal)charted 2.a pictorial drawing of an object and a new form of representation are created.

Use Adobe illustrator CC to project the shape of each components. Traced and colored in Ai and photoshop to provide this final image. Use shape tools and pen tools to line the stuctures, obey the axis to ensure the direction and degree are correct. Use photoshop to project the clouds and river by pen tools.

APPENDIX

The metrials used for tracing and drawing the world: Tapes, pencils, T-square,ruler.

Add decorations and additional components to create the new world, and start to add the seconed and thirld grounds.

Combine the front and back ground together, trace the pictures by pencil and pen in different size.
