Week 4 Cut Project ADS Air Dan Xu 365844
Input: Pattern And Overlap Association: Using sets Output: Rotate
the input was to divide a surface into multiple subsurfaces, a second surface division tool was used to move the subdivided surfaces over to another, this would give us two sets of points and vectors. the Asssociation technique was to find distance bewteen points in the plane to the related curve. While for the output function, we uses the points from input to create a number of circles, and use the distance from associative to generate the rotation angles. By adding a vector input, one can control the distance of move and rotation in the final product..
the parameters to be changed in the definition is the distance of movement and the radius of circles. the first three images show points moving around while adjusting the rotation distance. the last one is the resultant image while one adjust the radius of circles generated from the rotating points.
Swarm Connection can be made in relation to the nature, the swarm of birds flying. with some areas densier and some scarer, thus create a fabulous experience of movement. That idea of a product which can react in according to the external stimuli, such as force, wind load and so on, might be a important factor in the designing of the Gateway project.

The ideas of adaptation were exercised through the ability of such space-filling fabrics to adapt to spatial features of the host condition, as well as patterns of light, views and similar. The ideas of grouping a series of similar objects to form a pattern can create a harmonious environment. Such strategy, with its infinite protentional and posibility, will be a great technique to be explored in futher development of the Gateway project.
