“St. louis’ best steaks” - rft readers poll 1999-2015

Where Does Mike Like To Eat?

View our entire menu and specials online at: tuckersplacestl.com

This is the final installment of our talk with Mike Emerson of Pappy’s Smokehouse where we asked him to recommend a few of his favorite places to relax and enjoy a great meal. When we last checked in with Mike he was sending us to Mai Lee, a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant in Brentwood; and to Farmhaus in south St. Louis city. As owner and chef of the go to place in St. Louis for BBQ Mike knows a thing or two about good food and where you can go to enjoy a great meal. This time around Mike is sending us to Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. I can already see the skeptics out there shaking their heads. Seafood in a city nowhere near a coastline? In Mike’s words: “I want to eat here every day. This place feels like a restaurant on the bay where the seafood is plucked fresh from the water hours before you order. A few dozen oysters and a lobster roll and you will forget about being landlocked in St Louis.”

MONDAY: INDUSTRY NIGHT!

Happy Hour From 3pm Until Close. Drink Specials. 1/2 Price Appetizers & Pizzas.

TUESDAY: Prime Rib Specials All Day Long!

FRIDAY: FRUGAL FRIDAY!!!!!!

9pm Until Close. $1 Beer Specials. $3 Bomb and Shot Specials.

HISTORIC SOULARD • 1/2 block south of Russell

2117 South 12th St. • 314-772-5977

Judging from the rave reviews, Mike is not alone in his opinion of the food at Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. The restaurant has an informal, friendly atmosphere and serves some of the city’s best seafood. It has made the list of the best seafood restaurants in St. Louis and one of the ten best places in St. Louis to get oysters. Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. was voted the best new restaurant in St. Louis by Feast Magazine Midwest in 2015. High honors for a place that has only been open for business for a year.

Considering the pedigree behind the restaurant, it is not had to understand why Peacemaker has been such a success. Kevin Nashan, the James Beard Award-nominated chef-owner behind St. Louis’ celebrated Sidney Street Cafe, opened Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. in September, 2014. The restaurant’s name comes from its signature dish, The Peacemaker, a fried oyster version of the New Orleans po’ boy sandwich made from a hollowed loaf of French bread that is buttered and filled with fried oysters and finished with lemon juice and pickles. Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. is located at 1831 Sidney Street just down the block from The Sidney Street Café. For more information and a look at the menu please visit Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. at peacemakerstl.com or call 314-772-8858. Thanks, Mike, for your recommendations on three great places to eat in St. Louis. Mike Emerson, co-founder, chef, and owner of Pappy’s Smokehouse. Pappy’s is located at 3106 Olive Street in Midtown St. Louis. It has garnered both local and national recognition as the spot for top shelf BBQ in St. Louis. Do not doubt. Praise for Pappy’s can be found on TripAdvisor, Yelp, the Food Channel, and from any St. Louis native.
