Bud, Not Buddy
MONDAY: INDUSTRY NIGHT!
Happy Hour From 3pm Until Close. Drink Specials. 1/2 Price Appetizers & Pizzas.
Metro Theater Company is currently presenting Bud not Buddy at the Grandel Theatre Sunday, February 4 thru Sunday, February 25. The Grandel Theatre is located at 3610 Grandel Square in the Grand Center Arts District.
Direct from the Kennedy Center, the Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award-winning novel “Bud, Not Buddy” takes the stage telling the tale of a ten-year-old orphan on an epic journey to find his father. Bud sets off on his personal journey of discovery during the Great Depression of the 1930’s seeking his father who he believes is leading a traveling jazz band. Bud’s odyssey is filled with the joy of finding family and plenty of live Jazz music. The live jazz comes from the Metro Theater Company’s partnership with Jazz St. Louis. Bud, Not Buddy combines a group of actors with a 13-piece jazz band performing an original score by five-time Grammy-winning jazz artist Terence Blanchard to tell this inspiring story of a boy who finds his home and a passion for music. The Grandel Theatre is a 600-capacity, world-class performing arts venue operated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation. Concerts, plays, musicals, dance performances, comedy shows, and much more find a home on the Grandel’s stage. There is more to the Grandel than the theater. It is a multi-use arts facility renovated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation and re-opened in 2017. In addition to the theater, the Grandel is home The Dark Room at the Grandel – a full service bar & restaurant featuring rotating gallery quality photography exhibits and free live music; and the Grand Hall at the Grandel, a private event space available for rent. Please visit www.thegrandel.com for a full event listing and more information about Bud, Not Buddy and other events at the Grandel.

Don’t Know How to Clean Your Keurig? Keurig coffee makers and other single serve machines are an incredible convenience, but there’s one area where they’re NOT easy or helpful at all: keeping them clean. All those small parts and different compartments can be intimidating for even the cleanest of people, and no matter how much we try, how can we be really sure that our machines are as clean and safe as possible? By following these directions from Clean My Space! She’s here to show us the best way to effectively clean those Keurigs, and tips for preventing messes in the first place. Check it out! If you’re thinking, “Oh, I don’t need to clean that, it’s fine!” consider this: how clean your coffee machine is and how well your water is filtered will affect the coffee you’re drinking. Not just the taste, but how easy it is to brew, and how SAFE it is for you to be drinking. Most important of all, you’re saving yourself serious money; taking care of your Keurig by giving it a good clean like this every once and a while will make sure it stays working for longer, which saves YOU from having to out and buy another expensive appliance! So, coffee lovers, this seemingly necessary cleaning task is a must-do! Don’t worry, it’s much easier than you may be imagining.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started: • Materials • White vinegar • All-purpose cleaner • Dish cleaning liquid • Cleaning toothbrush • Microfiber cloth
Step 1: Take off and apart the lid and the reservoir of the Keurig. Step 2:Take your K-cup section and funnel apart. Step 3: Take off drip tray and cover. Step 4: You can now put the reservoir, funnel, drip tray, and cover go in dishwasher. Or put all these parts in the sink with hot, soapy water for 10 minutes. Step 5: Use your cleaning toothbrush to scrub out any coffee grinds from the K-cup area. Step 6: Wipe your Keurig down from top to bottom with the microfiber cloth. Use vinegar on your cloth to clear off any hard, white spots. Step 7: Reassemble your Keurig and do a descaling cycle. Step 8: To descale your machine, run the reservoir with white vinegar and make cups of hot vinegar until you’re done. Run some hot water through after to get rid of that vinegar taste and smell. Following these instructions will keep your appliance going strong and providing fresh cups of coffee for years! Just make sure to do this once a month or once every other month for the best results.

Make sure to dump out the water from the reservoir if you’re going away, to prevent hard water stains from forming. Made something sweet, like hot chocolate? Run a cleansing cycle through to prevent the sugar from crystallizing and clogging up your system. Use distilled water if you can instead of tap water in your Keurig. Distilled water doesn’t have mineral build up, so it will keep your Keurig cleaner and running more smoothly.
