The winners of the Golf the Galleries Call to Artists competition and designers of your mini playground are: Hole 1: “Warped Tour” by Andy VanMater, Cannon Design, requires just the right angle to get onto a complex, warped surface and over the hump on the right side. Hole 2: “Distortion” by Arcturis has angles, materiality, lighting and mirrors creating optic distortions in this architectural hole. Hole 3: “Mate in Four” by the World Chess Hall of Fame challenges the golfer with chess pieces that make up the “Mate in Four” problem. Hole 4: “Alice” by Natalie Pinson places the golfers the magical world of Alice’s Wonderland as they encounter a fabric-covered tree, a mushroom lair, the disappearing Cheshire Cat and a table set for a crazy tea party. Hole 5: “Over the Moonbow” by Gray for Scale (Ashley Kaempf and Chris Goodin) has a rainbow-shaped hole lit with blacklight and surrounded by colorful day-glo wall art set under a starry night sky. Hole 6: “Serengeti Park” by Justin King immerses players in a city park inhabited by animals behaving like humans. The gallery’s center pillar becomes a tree where players can take a selfie with a chimpanzee sipping a soda on a park bench. Hole 7: “The Gateway Green – A Hole-in-One for STL” by Switch towers over downtown St. Louis, beginning at Kiener Plaza and onto the newly reopened Gateway Arch grounds and Museum. Hole 8: The volcano themed “Anthropocentric Landscape” hole by B.J. Vogt is a metaphor for how humans affect their atmosphere and environment through their actions. Players able to navigate their ball into the hole will be rewarded with an eruption of packing peanuts! Hole 9: “Swimming with the Houska Fishes” by Charles Houska requires players to maneuver through a series of whimsical Houska-signature obstacles, fishes and flowers, to feed their ball to the colorful puppy waiting hungrily at the end.

Events JUNE
End of the Rainbow – June 21-July 1
The Grandel in Grand Center https://maxandlouie.com/ It’s 1968 and Judy Garland is about to make her comeback… again. In a London hotel room, with both her new young fiancé and her adoring accompanist, Garland struggles to get “beyond the rainbow” with her signature cocktail of talent, tenacity and razor sharp wit. Featuring some of Garland’s most memorable songs, this savagely funny play-with-music offers unique insight into the inner conflict that inspired and consumed one of the most beloved figures of our time. This St. Louis premiere stars Angela Ingersoll, reprising her star turn as Judy Garland in “End of the Rainbow”, having garnered the Chicago Jeff Award for her stunning portrayal of Garland at Porchlight Music Theatre Chicago and recently, to great acclaim, at Los Angeles’ La Mirada Theatre. A Talk back is scheduled after the June 24 matinee.
