Let’s Play Ball!

Historic Games of America’s Favorite Pastime Field House Museum, 634 South Broadway

Exhibit opening July 21, 2018 continuing thru January 20, 2019 The Field House Museum presents Let’s Play Ball! an exhibit showcasing games about America’s Favorite Pastime. From board games to bagatelle, this exhibit shows how baseball has been played off the field for decades through the unique, vibrant, and artful collection of Mr. Ed Nickels. Come see games based on baseball greats like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, pinball’s predecessor, baseball cards from unlikely sources, and a few games made right here in St. Louis. Let’s Play Ball! is a home run for the whole family. Opened December 18, 1936 The Field House Museum was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2007. It was the first historic house museum in St. Louis serving to remind visitors that this house was the home of Roswell Field, the attorney who formulated the legal strategy for Dred Scott’s lawsuit for freedom before the Supreme Court. The 1857 Dred Scott court decision widened the political gap between the North and the South and helped precipitate the Civil War. The Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has also been named a City of St. Louis Landmark.

For more information about Let’s Play Ball! and other events at the Field House Museum please visit them on the web at filedhousemuseum.org or call 314-421-4689.
