More development of how I could simplify an entire archive focusing on colour & line work. When I had my group crit I got feedback that keeping all the colours tonal & blended (like the blue one) was a really nice effect, also having the line work the same blue too maybe worked better than the black line?

‘the first definitions of internet art centred on the distinction of what was made specifically for the online environment’ Stallabrass. internet art: the online clash of culture and commerce (2003) pg.10.

Thinking of how I could replicate a more digital aesthetic I moved on to doing some pixel drawings – pixel art was the very first form of digital art, that was the frame it existed in. It seems right to experiment with stripping everything it right back to basics. Sort of a different definition of simplification ~

these are some more examples I made – but I think they were getting a little too figurative? I was also loosing the simplification aspect. Although pixel art is a very simple form of image making you can still put a lot of detail into it. Though I think it’s an interesting angle, aesthetically I prefer the grid work I was doing with paint and more that route of thinking. I’m going to move back to using paint and experiment a little more
