“here in Norway we have this thing called the “dodraugen”, the toilet draugr, a modern day version of the sea draugr from old norse mythology. The sea draugr is an undead creature that parents would tell their kind about to scare them from swimming out too far and getting caught by the currents and drown. But the toilet draugr lives in the sewers and drags kids down the toilet, not sure what the lesson in that story is…” – xeyonce.tumblr.com

“when i was a kid i was convinced that a huge, black wolf was living in my grandmother's house, in the room at the end of the corridor on the second floor. it's a rather old house (1850s) with wood everywhere, and mouses live in the walls... many people already lived there but we don't know all the stories. also it's an old farm” – asher-piperscamander.tumblr.com

“In sweden we have skogsrået who's a beautiful naked lady walking in the woods. She lures men deep into the forest where she enslaves their minds, or just makes them get very lost. You can avoid her by catching a look at her back which is covered in tree bark and has a hole
in it. Or you can turn your clothes inside out. She's actually mistress of the creatures of the forest and can bring you luck - unless you betray her bcs then she'll bring you nothing but misfortune.” -mybigfatcat.tumblr.com

“When my family was younger we would go camping every summer. One year one of my sisters found a rock that looked like kinda face that was screaming by a river. My dad told her that it was a little boy that had become trapped in the rock, and that he was looking for someone to take his place, and that he would come for her while she was sleeping. She was so scared she threw the rock in the river, but my dad just said that that made the little boy angry.... “ - yamfry.tumblr.com

It’s a swamp monster urban legend here in Louisiana, there’s festivals about it around Halloween. It’s a pretty spooky dude. Kind of along the lines of El Chupacabra as localities go.” - p0ppy.tumblr.com “i don’t know if this counts. when i was a kid we used to hear about a black BMW that would steal kids away. supposedly it was driven by a guy dressed in all black as well who was really the devil. a few months back i talked with a friend that is older than me and they said that they used to tell the same story, the car was just different, more time-appropriate i guess. and they also said that they’ve heard a similar story from someone older than them as well.” -hereliseslie.tumblr.com
“I don't know if this is what you're looking for but there's an entirely abandoned neighbourhood in my area (the houses are all gone, only the streets remain and most of them are gated off) but I had buddies who did a bunch of acid and went fucking around back there and took pictures of some freaky shit they found (like baby toys nailed to trees, and apparently a picture of a girl cut in half, nailed to a tree) and then when they were going to go home all of their phones were missing. They told me and my bf they thought there were spirits back there. Me and my bf went exploring there once, I even drew a map so we wouldn't get lost, and we saw a guy in a REALLY beat down Toyota who looked us in the eyes and said "you're working too hard." When we got back to our car someone had ciphened our gas.. We later found out there's a satanic ritual group that practices out there in the woods. We found a hoodie draped over a random tree once back there that said "CAUTION: SPIRITUAL AWAKENING " that was one of the creepiest things for me lol” – doesntmakeitalright.tumblr.com “My old middle school was built on a graveyard and the upperclassmen would scare us by telling stories of a ghost girl haunting the bell tower part of the school.” – cherryblossommew.tumblr.com “We have a story in my town about this one black cat that pretty much lives in one of the graveyards; he’s supposed to chase people out apparently bc they’re alive and not meant to be there” – scientific-w1itchery.tumblr.com “There was an urban legend at my school that a girl died falling down the elevator shaft from the 4th floor. is very beautiful and natural and serene. if you count the steps going down and then again going back up it won’t be the same number.”- shamrocksunglasses.tumblr.com “It’s pretty simple but I used to think that street lights were run by goblins who lived underground. My grandpa said the same. I imagined land-sharks as regular sharks but with four legs instead of fins, and they ate people and small animals.” – queen-of-fools.tumblr.com “When I was a kid, my sister would tell me scary stories about "the goat man". She would tell me the story about how a group of friends went camping in the woods, and they went on a hike and when they got back, their tent was destroyed. Then they started hearing yodelling music, and when they followed it they found an old abandoned cabin with a record player playing the music. I don’t remember exactly what happens after that, but basically they were never seen again. I always imagined him to be like, a mans body but goat legs and a goat head” – crimsonclover1234.tumblr.com “I almost forgot, here in St. Louis we have the Bubblehead legend!! There's an old house somewhere up in North county i think and the people that live there don't leave ever. Apparently, they've been inbreeding for generations and they have huge bubble shaped heads (I heard the heads glow in the dark but idk) My boyfriend went up to the street with some of his friends and there is a sign that says "trespassers may be shot". Just for driving up the street leading to it” – doesnymakeitalright.tumblr.com “one-time i got stuck in a weird pocket of time. my bff & i were at macy’s. all the sudden i turned around & she wasn’t there. i kept walking around in our section looking for her, saying her name VERY loudly repeatedly. i walked right up to some people & they completely ignored me. not a polite ignore, as if i wasn’t there. i was frantic and kept turning in a circle bc she was right there, we didn’t walk away from each other. finally i turned around again & she appeared...or i appeared..and she had this look on her face & she swore she never left & that it was me that vanished instantly. s t r a n g e. still unexplainable to this day & i’ve had some weird shit happen before.” - buddh1sm.tumblr.com “Im not sure how much this counts, as it’s not exactly a monster…but in elementary school we had this GIANT tire that kids would play in. At least 4 and a half feet tall, it stuck straight out of the ground so we could all squish ourselves in it. There were other, small tired we would play on, but this was the biggest by far. Kids would often huddle for warmth in it during particularly cold recesses, though of course only one kid could fit in each curved side. Kids made a sport to climb up the sides and jump off the top. The rire it’s self was safe – but someone had carved a large H on the inside, and kids would say that if you touched it you went straight to hell when you died. It was silly, but to a bunch of elementary school kids, it was perfect for daring people to touch the H (I did). I remember at one point standing inside
the tire with another girl who said she had carved the H into an I so it was safe to touch now.” – copperzealot.tumblr.com “This’ll sound super silly but I had a teddybear called sarah who was kinda an old and missing lil chucks of fur, she was half my size. I think I was like a metre tall. I hid her in the bupboard because sleeping with her gave me nightmares?? Idk why but she also gave my elder sister nightmares too, hecka weird.” Dipdoppinetree.tumblr.com ‘in Maryland, we have a legend of the snally gaster. It’s a monster with tentacles, one beak, one eye and it flys, it steals kids and eats them. – americanbunny.tumblr.com “A couple of towns over, there’s this popular urban legend about ‘the battle town witch’ named Leah from over a hundred years ago. There’s a lot of stories about her, including one time where she wanted to hold the neighbour’s new-born and they wouldn’t let her. She told them that they would regret it and the baby died a couple of years later. She died while her parents were away after she ‘accidentally’ got locked in the smokehouse…. Local authorities refused to investigate the incident. Her grave is supposed to be haunted and cursed by Leah’s angry spirit. There’s one story about a couple placing a foam skull on her grave, pissing Leah off, and their car wrecked on their way back home. Cell phone batteries drain and die, car batteries are known to completely drain bear the grave. If you on any way step or disrespect Leah’s grave, unfortunate and bad things are said to happen as Leah’s spirit will curse you.” – aestherhiicc.tumblr.com
