Welcome to WANDERLAND MArch 5 - 2018 London

This project forms links between neuroscience research, architecture, fiction and escapism as it aims to create a place where all these elements interconnect. We question the typology of theme parks as an architectural interpretation of escapism and combine them with neuroscience research laboratories.

How landscape design and specific architectural typologies can benefit mental health and promote mindfulness and well-being are examined through this project. Based on a folk story about Utopia the aim of the proposal is to allow visitors to create their ideal place. Utopia (no + place) + Eutopia (good + place) = Yourtopia (your + place)

A core of knowledge MArch 4 - 2016 Liverpool

People from different ages and backgrounds are coming together in this hybrid building in order to share their knowledge and create the future. The aim of this alternative library typology is to create spaces that everyone can discover and learn.

Considering Liverpool’s rich filming history and as a part of a masterplan project this typology aims to create an event that will help develop the filming tradition of Liverpool and make people aware of it. This biennial event is created by the way the building is going to be used.

Work Experience

Part I Placement 2015-16 Limassol, Cyprus Examples of my placement work. I was mainly involved in concept design and site visits for on-going luxury residential developments. Worked on technical drawings for the planning departments and explored the regulations through the projects I was working on.

01_ Welcome to WANDERLAND King’s Cross Area, London 2018 - MArch Thesis

The function of the core areas is based on the process of memory creation and the names are inspired by characters and events from ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Linking the function with the fictional events from the story, each zone is named to represent the activity and atmosphere within it. The visitor as well as the scientist go through a unique journey every time. The aim of the building is to promote escapism through The Castle of Fun - Stimulation

play and discovery. Moreover, it gives the opportunity to neuroscientists to work with visitors and develop their research

02_ Yourtopia

Festival Gardens, Liverpool 2017 - MArch 5

Yourtopia is a place for everyone. Is divided into three main areas that serve different purposes. Each of these areas is embedded strategically into the park in order to serve its purpose. The park as a total is disguised as a traditional park that provides relaxing spaces, play areas, walking paths and so on. However the interventions in each zone provide something different and more specific to whoever is interested. These architectural interventions have visual links between them and work as landmarks. In that way visitors are able to make connections and discover the park in order to create their ‘utopia’

Site Sections _ Summer and fall. These sections show the atmospheres change throughout the year and the relations of the architectural interventions between them and the landscape

Top of the Hill _ The reward of your journey. Reaching the top and being able to relax and contemplate. This intervention is hidden in between the trees however, people can have glimpses of it from the Ecotherapy tree house.

Ecotherapy ThreeHouse _ Ecotherapy is a method that helps improve your mental and physical well-being through doing outdoor activities in nature. This tower promotes activity and it is the main attraction of the park. Everyone is welcome!

03_ A Core of Knowledge Cook Street, Liverpool 2016 - MArch 4

The aim of this project is to relocate ‘Athenaeum Club’ and their special book collections to a new site and include in the building a branch of University of Liverpool Library. These two typologies co-exist in the building and at the same time break the boundaries between public and private by alternating the traditional idea of what a library is.

Concept Diagrams _ In the middle of the building a core is created to accommodate the books which is accessible and visible from everywhere. The floors have voids to allow views and create transparency. By differentiating the heights of some floors different levels are created and it is a way to keep some spaces more quiet.

Structural Physical Model _ The special book collection is located in the middle of the building and works as a core. It is an independent timber structure inserted in the middle hollow part of the concrete structure. It hangs from the roof and is supported by the floor slabs.

04_ MotionHouse

Pumpfields, Liverpool 2017 - MArch 4

The main driver of this project is the composition of multiple spaces that represent and host the final ‘event’. Each of these spaces is interchanging and works like a scene as if you were in a film. The ‘event’ is dedicated to film and cinematography and the way each of these spaces change allows the ‘event’ to take place.
