« No nonsense ». That’s the Urge Bike Products motto. It’s a great motto, but is also one that is not always easy to live by when you manufacture bike helmets. Urge Bike Products is not a followers brand and since our inception we have allowed ourselves to break some of the rigid codes of our little world. But hey, we’re not only here to shakeup the machine. Our goal instead is to put things in motion towards better products backed by innovative design and sustainable forward thinking. We believe this is the true definition of an, “Activist…” We, the Urge Bike Products Activists, make sure that all of our helmets are not only nice looking, lightweight, comfortable and protect you against the worst conditions, but in addition to these standards, we want our products to be manufactured with less polluting materials. It’s also our belief to democratize sustainable technologies. This is our cause and our responsibility as a manufacturer and we are very proud to move forward in this direction for the 2013 range and in particular with a model dedicated to all kinds of riding: The Activist. This new model is simply the most advanced helmet in terms of eco-conception in our range as well as in the worldwide helmet market. All of this and yet the Activist will be accessible to most riders as the price is incredibly affordable. If we are activist entrepreneurs, you all are activist ambassadors on the trails of the world. So, to all “Activists” out there, enjoy and have a good ride!

Not long ago, a mountain climber and a fisherman realized they had a lot more in common than a disdain for wearing a suit to work. Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, were also passionate environmentalists that happened to be running successful businesses. More important, they understood it was good business to protect the natural resources that kept them in business. And the rest is history... 2001 Based on their own business models, the two men hatch a plan to encourage more businesses to donate 1% of sales to environmental groups. Craig calls it 1% for the Planet. 2002 1% FTP holds an official launch event at the Patagonia store in San Francisco, California. Twenty-one businesses, including a winery, a coffee company and a guide service sign up as members. Not bad for the first day. 2003 A second launch event takes place at the Fly Fishing Retailer show in Denver, Colorado, engaging an industry that understands the connection between business and the environment like few others. Several more members are, um, reeled in. 2007 17 french businesses have registered to «1% for the planet». They was 100 in 2011 2010 Since 2010 South Shore Bicycles has been a menber of «1% for the planet».

MBF is an NGO we’re supporting thanks to the “1% for the Planet” program. The MBF “Green Brigades”, present on all major MTB events, have collected more than a ton of race waste between 2008 and 2011. This job is aimed to raise riders awareness and give them a sense of responsibility. The Green Brigades are also available for the members to organize sustainable actions: waste collection on races, trail clearing, reopening and maintenance, fight against trail erosion… MBF militate for a responsible MTB riding, with the ever-present concern of respecting the nature. To find the right balance is MBF reason to be.

To commit yourself in one direction (for us it is to protect you in a more eco-friendly way) and to make it affordable to most is for us the most honest and useful way to go. That is our vision of eco-activism at Urge Bike Products and that’s why we’ve created the Activist… This brand new model is our “entry level” helmet, but more importantly it is the model where we’ve gone further in terms of material choice and less polluting materials. The inner shell is made of recycled EPS while the outer shell is finished by the process of ABS dyeing in order to avoid using paint. The logo is a relief in the shell, which is nicer looking and avoids the use of stickers. Like the entire Urge helmets range, straps are made of recycled PET, our packaging has the legal minimum of plastic bags and other useless gadgets that end up in the bin, and the box is made of raw one-color carboard. Of course, along with all of the virtuous details, we haven’t forgotten about the comfort, the ventilation, the look and above all the safety. Even if you are now an activist who decided to protect the environment, the new Activist was mainly designed to protect you during your riding sessions.

• CE1078 / CPSC Certification • In Mould construction (unmatched ratio Protection / Lightweight) • Internal Venturi Effect • Stylish and flexible, anti crash visor • Featuring Gangsta pad, anti sweat system • Available in 4 sizes (S/M - L/XL) • Weight: 319 g
Inspired by DH and Enduro riding the Endur-O-Matic was designed to give the rider more coverage than a typical trail riding helmet while still being light weight and having the airflow of an xc helmet. Combined, this makes a great all around helmet suitable for anything from commuting to aggressive trail riding. 8 vents are positioned to create a Venturi effect and air flow is regulated by internal channels. The weight of the visor is close to 0 gram and its material is flexible, which helps prevent injuries in the event of a crash. Comfort is guaranteed by soft, removable, and washable pads. The frontal pad features a very simple and unique innovation: the «Gangsta pad». Passing just under the shell and being in contact with the air while riding, this part of the pad remains dry and absorbs sweat. In short, the Endur-o-matic is the new standard and is unique in several ways. This is the helmet you SHOULD ride with. With its smart shape, the only thing you still have to do is create the style that goes with it!

• CE1078/ CPSC Certification • Fiberglass or Linen/fiber construction (Veggie model) • Special Enduro front and neck shape • Special EVA foam mouth piece • Removable and washable pads • ABS visor with vent • Available in 4 sizes (S/M - L/XL) • Weight: 820 g
There are an increasing number of Enduro, All Mountain or Super-D riders worldwide, all specific disciplines that require dedicated equipment. The Archi Enduro is a good fit for all of these disciplines. We created the Archi Enduro by listening to the needs and feedback of some of the best Enduro riders on the planet. The Archi Enduro offers similiar protection as our DH helmet, the Down O matic. But the Archi also offers an optimal level of comfort thanks to its reduced weight, high breathability, and shorter back which allows the rider to comfortably wear a backpack. The Archi Enduro is revolutionary in itself: it is simply the first and the only Enduro-race helmet available on the market. Not only is it a unique helmet, it is now also available in the Veggie version, made from natural linen fiber. Like the entire 2013 range, the straps are made from recycled PET.

• CE1078/ CPSC Certification • Fiberglass or Linen/fiber construction (Veggie model) • Stylish and flexible anticrash visor • Internal venturi effect • Removable and washable pads • Grilled vents • Available in 4 sizes (S/M - L/XL) • Weight: 966 g
Its sleek shape, lightweight, and pure design are reminiscent of the Endur-o-matic. The big grid equipped vents at the front are round in order to allow a maximum amount of fresh air to the pilot. Proportions, visibility, and protection are optimal. The composite fiber construction allows an unmatched weight to protection ratio. The interior is super comfortable and soft and the pads are removable and washable. As featured on its little brother, the ABS visor is super light and vented. The helmet is lighter as a result and it also helps prevent injuries in the event of a crash. Its unique design channels into the vents. Every feature on the Down-o-matic has been tailored for maximum performance while riding a bicycle. Around the world or at your local trails, the Down-o-matic allows you to bring style and optimal security to your adventures.
