Project 07
Type Classification Poster
Daniel Herzberg
Step 1: Sketch, sketch sketch I began my process by sketching out a number of different possible outlines for my page. An example is shown to the left. While many of these designs were not necessarily close to my end result, small details and thoughts led to my final execution. One of the biggest breakthroughs I had during my beginning exploration was the idea of using a lighter classification name or letter behind the rest of the text. Although I didn’t use either of those overlapping options, the idea to use a lighter gray influenced my decision to continue the gray-scale throughout the project.
Step 2: Critique, critique, critique The next step was to have multiple critiques in class. We critiqued our original sketches then the first and second drafts. An image above documents the suggestions that needed to be made between the first and second drafts to fine tune all the small details. Although these critiques were beneficial, I found that many people were simply talking through their ideas because they were not yet completed. I also found myself in that same problem. Although I received feedback from each critique that was used in the final rendering, it would have been helpful to have more time between each critique, or maybe even one less.
