IN CHRIST ALONE
In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! - who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
Bible Reading
EPHESIANS 5:22-31 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 22
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 23
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 24
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 25
to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 26
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 27
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 28
After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 29
30
for we are members of his body.
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 31
WHY IS THERE MARRIAGE?
Firstly, marriage is for mutual fellowship. Secondly, marriage is to check the sinful life of adultery so that those not gifted to be continent can marry and thus keep themselves holy as the body of Christ. Thirdly, marriage is ordained for the purpose of rearing children that would be nursed to fear the Lord, abide with the teachings of His words and glory His holy name. This agreement, these two have reached and are here to be joined together.
Joining (Congregation shall be seated; the bride and groom stand before the minister)
Beloved brethren, we are gathered here today before God and this congregation to join Margaret Oluwaseun Obadimu and Olufemi Olawole Folasayo in Holy Matrimony. Marriage is an honourable status ordained by God Himself before the fall of man and it symbolises the union between Christ and the Church. That Christ sanctions marriage is evidenced by the fact that He honoured an invitation to a wedding in Cana of Galilee and he performed His first miracle there. Also, Apostle Paul pointed out that marriage is honourable among men. Therefore, marriage should not be rushed into to satisfy carnal lust. It has to be approached with dignity and the fear of the Lord.
From the foregoing therefore, if anybody has any reason or reasons they should not be joined in holy matrimony; such a person should mention it now. If there is none, let everybody remain silent on this marriage forever. The officiating minister questions the couple to be: Now, both of you should realise that those joined contrary to the wish of God are not acceptably joined together in the sight of the Almighty. Therefore, does any of you have reason or reasons you should not be joined together in matrimony?
(THE PASTOR PAUSES FOR THEIR ANSWERS) The man's pledge to the officiating minister.
THE MINISTER WILL ASK THUS: Olufemi Olawole Folasayo do you engage this woman in marriage so that both of you will live together according to God’s order on marriage? Will you love her, honour her, counsel her, nurse her both in the circumstances of plenty and poverty, sound health and illness? Will you leave other women and cleave to her alone as long as you are alive?
If the man agrees, he should pledge thus: Yes, I do. Likewise, the minister will seek the woman’s pledge thus: Margaret Oluwaseun Obadimu do you want this man in marriage so that both of you will live together according to God’s order on marriage? Will you love him, obey him, nurse him both in plenty and poverty, sound health and illness? Will you reject other men and cleave to him alone so long as both of you are alive? If the woman accepts, she should pledge thus: Yes, I do.
AFTER THIS, THE OFFICIATING MINISTER SHOULD ASK THE CONGREGATION. Who gives away this woman in marriage? (The father or mother or any person chosen for the purpose comes forward to give the right hand of the lady to the officiating minister who in turn hands her over to the man)
MAKING AGREEMENT Holding the right hand of the woman, the man pledges thus, (saying after the Minister): I, Olufemi Olawole Folasayo accept you, Margaret Oluwaseun Obadimu as my wife, as from today, to have and to hold, for better, for worse, in plenty and poverty, in health and in sickness. I will love you and nurse you according to the way of God, till death do us part. After this, the woman holds the man’s right hand and declares saying after the minister: I, Margaret Oluwaseun Obadimu accept you, Olufemi Olawole Folasayo as my husband from today, to have and to hold, for better, for worse. I will love you in plenty, in poverty, in
good health and in sickness. I will nurse and obey you according to the will of God till death do us part. The man gives the woman a new copy of the Holy Bible and both hold it together during which the man shall repeat the following after the Minister: With this Holy Bible which is the Word of God. I marry you, I surrender myself to you in sacrifice and I will nurse you with all my possessions, in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
THEN THE BRIDE ALSO SHALL REPEAT THE FOLLOWING AFTER THE MINISTER: I joyfully and wholeheartedly accept this Bible as a Seal of our Covenant today. May God help me to follow the guidance of its words in patience and humility towards God and you Akinwole Ayodele, my husband, for the joy of our family in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Minister then lays both hands on the Bride and Bridegroom together and says: For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder. As Margaret Oluwaseun Obadimu and Olufemi Olawole Folasayo have agreed to be joined in holy matrimony even as they have confessed this before God and man and backed it up with the giving and receiving of the Holy Bible, as an everlasting testament, I say they should both live together as husband and wife from today in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
“
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.

ON CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK
1. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 2. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 3. His oath, His covenant, and blood Support me in the whelming flood; When every earthly prop gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. 4. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found, Clothed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne! On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY
To God be the glory, great things He hath done, So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life our redemption to win, And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice; Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory; great things He hath done. Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.
