What it means to be a Diva!
A diva is someone who is a perfectionist, who does her best in her craft. - Patti LaBelle
Danielle Maddrey A diva is a woman who is extremely talented. The term was originally used to refer to stars of the operatic world, and now more generally to talk about talented female musicians in all genres. Alas, “diva” has acquired some negative connotations, and it is also sometimes used to describe difficult women or women who have an inflated opinion of themselves. This is unfortunate, as highly talented female performers deserve credit for their hard work and natural ability. This term is Italian, taken from the Latin diva, which means “goddess” or “divine one.” The use of the term is meant to suggest that a woman is so incredibly talented that her voice in performance approaches the divine. Divas have historically acquired huge numbers of fans, and their talents are often in high demand. When you think of the word diva, you usually think of a woman with an attitude and bossy or in the music industry. Today the word diva is used to describe women who are in sports to CEO’s. What few
women realize is that a diva is a women of strength and confidence. A diva is a woman who has gone through something to get where she is today. Being a diva is an attitude, where you demand respect and accepts nothing less. I feel divas have been around since the beginning of time and I give Eve the title as the first diva. She was the first woman who had to endure pain and suffering in order to set the trail for other women. She was a woman who had to stand in front of God Almighty and admit her sin and later had to endure the pain of the death of a child at the hands of another child. Divas are Divine, Intellegent, Vibrant, Annointed, Sisters who love themselves and others. They shine their light everyehere they go. In meeting Gwendolyn I can truly say she is a wonderful example of what it means to be a Diva and it is an honor to dedicatated our first Diva Magazine to her. Regardless of your age, your size or nationality you are a diva.
