Dear Maria, It seems like only yesterday you were our little girl. The years have gone by so fast. Now you are a senior in high school about to graduate and it hit us that our little girl is not so little anymore. It has been a pleasure watching you grow. Now it is your last Prom and we are filled with joy. You looked so beautiful in your blue dress, our movie star! We also want to let you know how much we love David. Every since you met him in drama club the two of you have bee inseparable. At first, we worried about our little girl and her first love but the more we got to know David and his family the more we loved him and was proud our little girl picked a good one. We remember when you guys played Romeo and Juliet in your first big role at high school and you had to kiss in front of everyone and were super embarrassed. What happen to those days? Well enjoy your night! We love you both!

Finding the Perfect Fit

“It’s really beautiful”

Maria’s Search

We headed out to Dalton Georgia early in the morning and we went to a place a friend of my dad told us about, Bridal Dresses of Dalton. We found a really beautiful dress that only needed a couple of slight alterations. It’s ocean blue with spaghetti straps. It has a slight flare which flows so elegantly. I feel like I could work the red carpet in it. It reminds me of something my favorite actress, Jennifer Aniston would wear. It’s really beautiful. I love the way the material reflects the light. I can’t believe I found it after trying a total of 23 dresses. I was going to get a coral dress I tried on, but it just wasn’t me (Mom liked it!). Anyway, I found the perfect fit and David found a nice tux to match. He had his last fitting so we are ready to go. Prom here we come!!!

Our Colors Black White and Ocean Blue David’s Reaction

When I first saw Maria I was in awe of how awesome she looked. Outside of Jr. Prom I had never seen Maria dressed up. She is a jeans and T-shirt type of girl, but seeing her in her blue gown took my breath away. I just kept staring at her. I also like the highlights in her hair, she looked completely different like those make over shows. I love her!

How They Met

aria first spotted David on the first day of their freshman year of high school. He was the class clown and she was the new kid. They were in three classes together and both joined drama club. She thought he was too cool for her and it turns out that he thought she was too cool for him. So they never talked to each other, with the exception of a quick “hello” in passing. Later on they discovered that they both had a secret crush on each other. It wasn’t until the winter play, Romeo and Juliet that we really started to talk. Luck would have it that Maria landed the role of Juliet and David was cast as Romeo. This was the first time in the history of their school that two freshman were cast in lead roles. After spending so much time rehearsing they became very close. They started saying hi in the hallways and began passing notes back and forth throughout the school day. However they were very nervous about the kiss they had to share and put it off until the actual show. Then opening night of the show they kissed and it was they knew their kiss was more than acting. By the end of freshman year they were going out. Sophomore year came and they shared mutual friends; they even sat at the same lunch table. They both went on the same choir trip to Hawaii. They were in several plays together and enjoyed their time in drama. At the end of sophomore year, they were been pretty much inseparable! Then that summer they both attended drama camp and it was there that David first said “I love you!” When they returned to school the two of them had changed. They grew up so much and at time Maria worried they would grow apart, but they didn’t. All their friends were in and out of relationships but they remained together. They continued to date throughout junior year and prepared for Junior Prom. Two weeks before prom Maria broke her leg playing softball. She was so upset to go to her first prom on crutches. It killed her not to dance, but she loved David for sitting with her all night. Now it senior year and they are excited to go to Prom and dance all night long.

Before the Prom

Prom night finally arrived and excitement was in the air. Everyone met at Maria’s house for photos. David arrived first and the couple got some nice shots in before Sam and Mike arrived. Everyone was all smiles. Maria parents beamed with pride. As they took picture after picture of the couples in the back yard the rest of the party arrived. Laughter filled the air as Darryl goofed off. It was easy to see why he was nominated as class clown. In between pictures Maria dusted David’s tux off and he kissed her hand and said. “Thanks Madame”. The two looked so cute! As the group took some final pictures the white strength limo pulled up and they piled in ready for a night of French Bliss. Maria rolled down the window and gave her parents a final wave. They were off to the time of their life.

They arrived at prom around 7:15pm. After their “Grand Entrance,” it was inside the prom they went. The atmosphere of prom was so wonderful. The Marriott was really so beautiful and everybody looked so gorgeous in their prom outfits. The decorations were gorgeous. When they walked into the gym where the main event was being held, it felt like they were in a dream. They walked in, hand in hand. The dance floor had a black canopy over it, so it felt like it was majorly dark. The floor was done in black and white checkered paper. But, you couldn’t even see the floor, because it was covered in balloons. The main decoration was the Eiffel Tower, done in white Christmas lights.

It was so beautiful. They talked to people and got their seats. By this time, they had seen some of their friends and teachers and made sure they took plenty of pictures to commemorate the evening. No one was dancing at this time but, everyone was full of energy and so glad to see everyone else. It was the perfect time for their formal prom pictures so got there before the line. Maria also had a group picture with some of her friends. Around 7:45 they ate the wonderful food that was served and they were really surprised at how good everything tasted. After they ate, the fun began. People started dancing & having a good time. They danced all night. Especially since last year they couldn’t dance due to Maria being on crutches. Even though David was asked by several girls to dance, he never danced with any other girl but Maria. How sweet!! The moment they both remembered was when David took Maria to the dance floor and pretended to sing to her. He sang Bruno Mars,” Just the way you are”. He was so cute the way he danced around her making her blush in front of all her peers. Right after that they cleared the dance floor to announce prom king and queen and David was happy that his friend, Mark Satterfield won the title of prom king. After the the Prom King and queen danced they played a video of different school events and people from their class. Since David and Maria were in choir, and drama together, and Maria was is in student council, while David ran cross country they were in plenty of clips. This made them smile and feel sad knowing that high school was almost over. Prom soon came to an end, but the night was still young. After prom the group drove around the city in the Limo and then all went back to Maria’s house to watch a movie.

It was truly the greatest night of their life. Maria states, “Senior Prom will be a night that will live on forever in my mind and in my heart. Senior prom is thought of as and meant to be a special and memorable night. For me, it was that and so much more. My senior prom was more special than I could ever describe in words or that I could have ever imagined or hoped for.” David had a simple reply, “Ditto!”
