“Harmonizing uses” is an urban renewal project located in the center of Bogotá, specifically in La Capuchina neighborhood between Streets 17th and 16th and Roads 13th and 12th, this place has the presence of consolidated trade clusters such as electrical supplies and household appliances known at the metropolitan scale.
The project focuses on studying the relationship between commerce, storage and housing within the same structure, as well as its relationship with public space. It was born because of the want to understand and solve three key problems in the area: First, the lack of public and permeable space in the UPZ of Las Nieves where 50.33% of the space is occupied and the rest does not provide a suitable public space for its inhabitants. . Second, the large presence of warehouses in the intervention block, which has 86% of the area dedicated to storage, leading to, third, a housing deficit in the area which generates problems such as insecurity during hours of commercial inactivity.
These cases are studied to understand why the warehouses has displaced the housing and to find solutions that will bring a coexistence between said uses. So, taking this into account, a building that fulfills multiple functions is generated; it creates a block front where the commercial clusters are maintained, optimized warehouse spaces are provided that meet the needs of the trade, levels of mixed uses are design, generating housing and office spaces; and finally, the center of the block is recovered, which allows the creation of a public space, largely permeable, suitable for the improvement of the area.
This is where the name “Harmonizing uses” comes from, since it seeks to create a space where these activities, which until now have been carried out mutually exclusive, can coexist harmoniously, improving the sector and setting a precedent for future interventions.
Floor plans
The project provides two basements for the storage of household appliances, a first floor for commerce, and upper floors for offices and housing.
Due to its height, holes were created in the structure that allow sunlight to enter the interior of the building and the offices and homes on the intermediate floors.
Additionally, green areas were added to the interior and the top floors of the project to create meeting spaces with the possibility of developing options such as urban gardens inside.
Finally, the center of the block, which is currently used as a parking lot, was recovered to provide a public space for the sector and the city, with permeable areas and suitable for all ages.

Urban renewal, Design
“Habitable Ruins” is located in the old “Bronx” in the center of Bogotá, the project sought to generate a new cultural center for the city that would change the image of the area and invite the city to appropriate the area.
The shape is initially born from the “Hamiltonian Paths”, a mathematical concept where a graph is a path and the union of multiple graphs generates a Hamiltonian cycle. Although this concept is presented in two dimensions, it was taken to three-dimensionality, generating unique, connected and open spaces. In the investigation of these paths, oblique architecture was reached, which defies the common rules of architecture and plays with perpendicular planes. After all this process, we arrived at the final proposal, made up of modules that generate ramps and/or stairs, spaces for permanence or transition, generating great flexibility in the uses developed inside and, since it does not have demarcated spaces, it allows the flow of people inside the space.

Design, Creativity
With the guideline of developing an architectural proposal where two of the types of intelligence will be developed according to Gardner’s theory, a utopian space is proposed where visual-spatial learning and personal intelligence are developed, through a collaborative project where the participants must work as a team to build the world or habitable space in which they operate with clear rules such as:
1. Space must be created between two or more people
2. Forbidden to place equal pieces together
3. It is played in groups of two or more people
4. The worlds created by the groups must be united
5. Upon reaching the third level it is necessary to descend at least one level to continue the ascent.

3D Modeling, Family Creation
As a learning process, the 3D model of Daniel Libeskin’s MICX in Belgium was developed. The exercise consisted of completely modeling the building based on the plans and general material of the project, with a focus on modeling the structure and details of a specific space.
The chosen space was one of the auditoriums, from which not only its volumetry was obtained, but also a unique family of furniture that was designed for the project, that was modeled creating the family.
The project that was modeled in 3D in Revit and later rendered with the integrated engine of the program.

MODEL VS ORIGINAL
Part of the development of the exercise was to choose two images that would be compared with the final render.
One of the selected sections was the façade with the set of materials and curvatures, so that after finishing the modeling, and with the rendering of the REVIT program, the comparison that can be seen in these images could be generated.
Additionally, one of the main auditoriums was selected, the result of which can be seen on the following pages.

Pavilion, Contest, Design
This project was developed for a contest that was looking for a Pavilion for Peace in Senegal, this should be a place of reference for the community and at the same time a meeting space where different political and religious ideals could come together.
The proposal focused on using materials present in the area and with construction methods used by its inhabitants. Regarding the shape, it was found that the area has a large presence of seashells, these are a symbol of protection and security, for this reason we decided to use their shape and curves to form the different spaces within the pavilion.
Finally, the heart of the project is located in a water collection area, where it is naturally treated and becomes safe water for the community.
