The Brief To create a logo, two web banners and a voucher for the up and coming brand Leeds Student Deals. They will be used on the website and social media. It should reflect a contemporary look and feel aimed at students aged 18-25.

Fifteen logo designs were created for the client. The client wanted to shorten the name to LSD, and so a few logos explored this idea. Since the brand promotes deals, I created a few logos which represent tickets to portray this. The top right logo combines students and deals by using a graduation cap and ticket within one icon. The chosen logo was very simple, portraying the contemporary brand and reflecting their simple, no fuss approach.

Web Banner 1 Development The client wanted the first banner to read ‘Weekly Deals & Offers For The Students of Leeds’ so two variations with different fonts were created for the client. A simple, striking design that will grab the user’s attention was created so that they are immediately drawn to the message on the website. To make the banner more eye-catching, capital letters, banners and bold fonts were selected.

Web Banner 1 This was the banner that the client chose. It was reformatted for the size it needed to be to feature on the home page of the website.

Web Banner 2 Photography The client wanted the second banner to be photography based. Here are two of the images that were sent to the client, each with a different subject to show the type of deals the company has to offer. I chose imagery that were specific to students as these are the audience, as well as show deals that they offer - such as food.

Web Banner 2 This was the image that the client chose. It shows two young women having fun which reflects the audience as well as the aim of the company. This is a good choice in the sense it doesn’t give a focus on a particular deal - such as food - and shows that they offer a wider range of things.

Brief 6 Leeds Student Deals

Voucher Since the client was happy with the logos and banners, they came back to ask for a voucher to be used on the website. It needed to be editable so the client can frequently input their own content, therefore the design is flexible so that copy of various sizes would work. It mimics a ticket to give the user context of what it is, and allows them to easily recognise its purpose.
