Screenprinting The cards were a three colour screenprint. This process was chosen because of its unique qualities and ability to create vibrant and metallic inks. This creates a special, endearing aesthetic which I wanted for the christmas cards to produce a limited edition design.

3 Visual Research

Visual Research Here are some examples of the visual research that was done to get thinking about festive colours and related objects. I wanted to stay away from the traditional red and green as it has been over used, and looked at different seasonal colours such as gold. This works particularly well with screenprinting due to how much it stands out and also reflects something special.

I also looked at collage style illustrations, as these allow you to draw multiple things as well as create a set to represent something which works well with an event like Christmas where there are so many relateable objects. I also found that when creating screenprints and collage styles, it works best with a limited colour scheme to make colours really pop, keep it consistent and easy to look at, as well as easier to print.

Final Cards These are the final screenprinted christmas cards printed on a variety of stocks for different effects. I am happy with the outcome as they have a seasonal feel and the metallic gold works really well with being a festive colour and standing out against the other colours.
