Desert Wildflowers The winter of 2004-2005 was extraordinarily wet in Arizona. In the Phoenix area, we average about 12 inches of rain per year, but in 2005, January and February alone delivered nearly six inches. One result of all that rain was that in March and April we had an exceptional crop of wildflowers, and indeed, the desert had more vegetation than at any time I could remember. So, I decided to make it a project to visit the various city and county and state parks in the area and photograph the wildflowers. For four weeks, from early March until early April, I drove from park to park and tramped over many trails, looking for photographs. These volumes contain the results of those travels. •

Volume 1 covers the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Usery Mountain Regional Park, McDowell Mountain Regioinal Park, Picacho Peak State Park, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, the Superstition Mountains and South Mountain Park (Phoenix).

Volume 2 includes photos from Lost Dutchman State Park, Cave Creek Regional Park, South Mountain Park (Phoenix), San Tan Mountain Regional Park and Lake Pleasant Regional Park

Volume 3 covers the Estrella Mountain Regional Park, Lake Pleasant Regional Park, Desert Botanical Garden (Phoenix), the Apache Trail and Bartlett Lake

All the photos were taken with a Canon EOS 10D digital SLR.
