25 Eccleston Place 25 Eccleston Place, commonly known as ‘The Yards’ is built up of a collection of 3 buildings located around a courtyard that links Eccleston Place and Ebury Street, London SW1. The site is sandwiched between two juxtaposing areas of London. The boutiques and billionaire mansions of Belgravia and the heaving traffic of Victoria Rail and Coach Stations.

The Yards was first built and designed by The Westminster Company to supply electricity for the local area, becoming operational in February 1891. Described as a typical station of the time the Eccleston Place Power Station “buildings were of brick, the boiler-house and the engine room being alongside each other on t h e g r o u n d fl o o r , a n d t h e b a t t e r y r o o m a b o v e the boiler house. Unusually for the time the site also housed a mess-room for the staff. WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY ART FOR ME?

In my opinion, contemporary art is minimalism. it can be about simplifying the artists' ideas and thoughts or things in the minilizen way. When I first got the berief, the fastest thing came to my brain is the shape of the contemporarty art. It was just a circle.

Fuctional Wall

Exhibition Space

I designed all the functions in a big wall, which is standed in the centrel of the gallery. All the other area will belong to exhibitions, also can rebuild temporary structures in the empty area. Here are the steps of how to find the exact place of different functions.

INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT

This is a project about designing a fashion studio. The most specific thing in this sapce is the shape of the roof. It is like the word "A", that is the reason why it was called "A FRAME". The most difficult thing in this porject is how to manage more than then functions work together in the same space, find the logic of the space. It will show ALEXA'S studio perfactly and protect the secret of the fashion design at the same time.

MY DEISGN CONCEPT

White collection I want the whole space is basicly white with different textures and textiles which can be designed and built by the designers who worked in the studio. Highlight the overlap space Because of the functions, I separate the space in three parts, one is the public, contails waiting area and showing room. one is half public and half private , contains Alexa's office, commercial office, meeting area, kitchen and toilet. the last part is belonging to design development which is in the back of the whole space, the designers' working space is just next to three directors and workshops to make sure they can communicate directly and quickly. Reflect the A FRAME The shape of the A FRAME is the most diiferent structures compare to the other space. The simble for a fashion studio is very important, so i choose to reflect the A FRAME shape, to make the whole space more conceptual.

It is obvious to see the structure of the A FRAME when people first enter the studio. The frames are not on the same line, several layers can be seen at the same time to make the space looks like explosion.

USE OF USELESS CORNER

Locating and inserting recycling objects into accidental or unused spaces in the Darwin Building After observing students in the RCA we noticed: - People like to squeeze themselves under handrails or cigarettes - Stand on various steps for conversations - Sit in front of fire escapes - Crouch cross-legged on short brick walls Most if not all of these situations seem uncomfortable. RCA students are disobedient to the standard use of objects. Over the development of the Darwin Building, walls and column rendered parts of the university building. In the attempt to divide open spaces to forge programmes corners such as (image of gallery column) came to being. Therefore we sought to edit and place reclaimed objects in spaces we felt were accidental or unused in order to give these a sense of purpose. We will be using duct tape as our screw to give a sense of temporariness.

BREATHE

BREATHE room divider is made up of identical triangular forms to create interactive and responsive panels. Focusing on Bloomberg’s ethos of; collaboration, transparency and connectively, the triangular forms are a representation of this.

MISSION STATEMENT Combing the idea of a pin screen, memory foam and magnetic connectivity this design has the following features; + Flexible + Moveable + Self- supporting + Re ects Bloomberg’s ethos of; collaboration, transparency and connectively, + No electricity is required for these panels. + Flat-pack + On wheels + Temporary or permanent + Customisation Breathe panel is a playful concept that creates a breathing motion when it is touched. When the ABS silicon triangles are pushed, the memory foam in the centre of the form will go back. e memory foam will slowly return to its original state, making the panel look like its breathing. e Breathe wall divider will be made of magnetic forms to allow for easy assemblage and removal. If it was wanted for a perminant purpose it could be screwed together. e BREATHE panels can span a 5 metre length x 2.5m height and are 80cm wide. e wall can form any shape due to the individual modular forms.
