HighlandsComposition

Lunarhighlandsareprimarily composedofanorthosite,whichisa typeofrockrichincalciumand aluminumminerals. Anorthosite formsfromtheslowcoolingofmolten rockbeneaththesurfaceandis characterizedbyits whitelight color.Themainmineralin anorthositeisplagioclasefeldspar, whichgivesthehighlandstheirbright appearance.Thehighlandsprovide valuableinformationabouttheMoon's earlygeologicalprocessesandthe intensityofimpacteventsduringits formation.
