The Agora: Leading the Canadian Print Media Revolution

In Canada, a handful of corporations control nearly all news media. As the consequences of this monopoly on information become increasingly apparent, dependence on these outlets for reliable and relevant information becomes unacceptable. The cynicism and apathy built up within this society are now in need of remedy. With the development of the internet it has become possible for anyone to bypass the monopoly of big media and get the word out on an endless range of issues. This technology has rapidly ignited a renaissance in freedom of expression. The paper you hold in your hands is dedicated to carrying this renaissance through into a full blown revolution in the realm of print media. We provide a professional platform to all the news and views you have not been seeing in the dying corporate press. We are committed to a revival of true print journalism. We also strive to provide workable solutions and ideas for action. In order to accomplish these goals while retaining integrity, Agora abides by an open source philosophy of content generation. This means that no one voice may use money or undue influence to drown out the others. To be sure we do not become beholden to any one editorial bias, our editorial crew has been populated with feisty humans to disagree on practically everything. After all, who knows better what information you should or should not be exposed to: A few monolithic corporations? The Government?...Or You?

No Justice, No Peace One Man’s Fight Against Big Pharma and the Health Care System by Dan Merchant

T

his summer marks seven years since a routine medical exam changed the course of Tim Moorley’s life. For four and a half years, Moorley has been seeking justice against pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, for harm they have caused him and countless others. His fight has been hindered by suspicious behaviour in the medical system and a lack of cooperation by the provincial government. The BC father of 5 was an amateur boxer who happened to experience some pain in his feet while running. During a routine exam he was prescribed the common pain medication Celebrex. For about three weeks the drug seemed to work as prescribed, until the morning he woke up ill and found he couldn’t walk. Celebrex is a COX-2 inhibitor pill made by Pfizer that is used to treat acute pain. Like Vioxx, another COX-2 inhibitor, Celebrex has been shown to increase the risk of heart attack by up to 250%, and increases the risk of stroke and blood clots. Unbeknownst to him, Moorley had been living with a heart condition called a patent foramen ovale (PFO.) PFOs occur in about 20% of the population, but usually cause no symptoms, and can only be detected by specialized tests. A PFO allows venous blood (low oxygen count) to enter directly into the arteries, which can increase the risk of blood clots entering the arteries.

Disheartened by the inconsistent and suspicious proceedings, Moorley was forced to travel to Washington and pay out of pocket for another echo and a bubble test It is believed the combination of a PFO and the drug Celebrex are what led to a blood clot in Moorley’s femoral artery, which, after months of pain, resulted in a femoral bypass graft and an amputated toe. He has since dealt with subsequent clots, amputations, and has a life threatening hole in his heart. After contacting Pfizer, Moorley’s family doctor learned that the case was not unique, and informed his patient that he could file a lawsuit against Pfizer. Moorley sought legal council and retained the Vancouver law firm of Pointer and Baxter. On January 5, 2005 a class action lawsuit was filed in B.C. Supreme court for damages caused by Celebrex. Two years after the femoral bypass, Moorley sustained a minor injury that would not heal, and caused him to become very ill once again. Due to his recent medical history he was referred to Surrey Memorial for an echocardiogram (echo). On December 8, 2006 the test was performed. The results were read by a doctor who then decided to do a bubble study. After the study was completed, the doctor informed Moorley that there was a hole in his heart, and recommended he see his GP as soon as possible. The next morning Moorley saw his GP, who had received the results from the cardiograph, but not the bubble test. When contacted later the same day, the doctor from the hospital denied ever seeing Moorley. When pressed, he admitted to reading the echo, but claimed he did not perform a bubble test and that there was no record of one. Three weeks later, the administration at Surrey Memorial

The echo technician, Dave Gardner, who happened to be the most senior tech in the Lower Mainland, stood up and said, “I’m uncomfortable with this.” informed Moorley that they found a vial of saline solution (used for bubble studies) that had been allocated to him, but it was the only record they had. His file was amended to include the find, but still did not include any information on the outcome of the test. Due to the lack of medical evidence, Pointer and Baxter had to drop the case, leaving Moorley as the Legal Council on Record for the class action suit. In March 2007, Moorley saw Dr. McCuaig to have stitches removed from his recent finger amputation. After hearing the story, Dr McCuaig agreed to take Moorley on as a patient, and started trying to get another bubble test scheduled. After nearly a year of having his requisitions denied by all hospitals in the lower mainland, Dr. McCuaig went to the media for help. In April 2008, The Surrey Leader published an article about Dr. McCuaig not being able to get Moorley a bubble study. The article put pressure on the Fraser Health Authority and they agreed to schedule a test for May 8, 2008. The May 8th bubble test was performed by Dr. Stephen Pearce who said the test looked fine. The echo technician, Dave Gardner, who happened to be the most senior tech in the Lower Mainland, stood up and said, “I’m uncomfortable with this.” He was told to shut up and sit down, but refused to and walked out. After the test was complete Moorley and a friend, who had filmed the procedure, were escorted out by security. Disheartened by the inconsistent and suspicious proceedings, Moorley was forced to travel to Washington and pay out of pocket for another echo and a bubble test. On September 30, 2008 at Washington North Cascade Cardiology, Moorley was told that he was missing part of his heart. Dr. McCuaig was faxed the results the next morning and when Moorley arrived at his office to go over them, the Dr. admitted that his faith in the medical system was shaken. Dr. McCuaig then added the files from North Cascade Cardiology to Moorley’s medical record and began asking various doctors around the lower mainland to perform open heart surgery. Finally a surgeon agreed to take Moorley as a patient. He scheduled the necessary tests, but wanted to know why there were conflicting bubble test results. When Moorley explained the story, the doctor told him he would be unable to perform the surgery and had to drop him as a patient. Dr. McCuaig received a private letter from Dr. Abrams explaining his reason for dropping Moorley was the conflicting bubble tests. Dr. McCuaig felt obligated to share the letter with Moorley, but once Dr. Abrams found out that he had done

so, Dr. McCuaig was immediately removed from the clinic. The clinic would not give Moorley any information about what had happened to Dr McCuaig. On November 17 2009, Dr. Bernstein, a cardiologist at VGH, looked at the North Cascade Cardiology results and agreed that there appeared to be a hole in Moorley’s heart. She set up a Transesophageal Echocardiogram to get a better look at the shape of the hole and determine the best course of action. Having recently experienced the questionable conduct of various health care professionals, Moorley recorded the conversation he had with Dr. Bernstein. When Moorley informed her that she had been recorded, she refused to continue working with him. Since his interaction with Dr Bernstein he has not seen another doctor. In February 2010, Moorley discovered that Dr McCuaig was working at Delta Hospital. He and his wife confronted Dr. McCuaig in the hallway of the hospital while a friend filmed. Dr. McCuaig admitted that the standard of care had not been met in Moorley’s case and agreed to write a letter to that effect. Moorley received the letter a few days later, and it states that he has not received adequate medical treatment and if there is no one willing to perform necessary tests and procedures locally he should be sent somewhere else. In Oct 4th 2008, Moorley distributed copies of the North Cascade Cardiology images to everyone involved in the Pfizer case. Three weeks later Derek Mullin, the Pfizer lead legal council, contacted Moorley offering him $50 000 to settle the case. This would mean all the other plaintiffs would get nothing. He refused.

After his class action suit was dropped by Pointer and Baxter, and Moorley was made the legal council on record, he no longer has the mechanism to distribute any money that would be awarded. Therefore he is unable to represent the plaintiffs in the negotiations. In February 2007 he filed a small claims lawsuit against the Fraser Health Authority for not providing him with the standard of care. When this case reaches the BC Supreme court, it will enable him to continue his pursuit of Pfizer, as well as hold the associated care providers accountable for their actions. Tim Moorley was given a drug that was known to be dangerous, and then his test results were ‘lost’, faked, and further tests were withheld. The medical professionals he trusted misled him and were not able or willing to assist him with a treatable condition that now

threatens his life. Drugs that are known to be dangerous are being promoted, marketed, and sold to us. As fellow citizens it’s time for us to wake up, and start paying attention to what is happening to our medical system, and who is behind it. The bottom line of big pharma’s influence is that it has critically altered the way medicine is practiced. This is more than an unfortunate story about one man - this is the reality we are living in and we need to work together for justice and peace.

Vancouver

confess there was a wee problem with last month’s column: my email address (docisin.doc@gmail.com) was left out, so nobody got to ask the questions that would have formed the basis for this month’s article. As a passable substitute, I want to give you a tutorial on the importance of choosing nutritional supplements which are the most absorbable and usable by the body, and give you a way to find out more about what your body requires, and why. We talk routinely about “taking our vitamins”, but many people grab any old bottle, look for bargain prices, and pay little attention to the brand name, or the sources of ingredients, or even whether the product is completely ersatz ( synthetic) and therefore not useful to the body at all. I would estimate that Canadians probably waste millions of dollars annually buying less-than-effective products, and believe that they are protecting their health in the process. Those bargain prices can bite back. Often, cheap supplement ingredients and fillers can wipe out any benefit you might receive from the actual nutritional product. This can also be the case if the ingredients are not natural, or are simply in a form that absorbs poorly or too slowly, in which case much of your benefit goes, quite literally, down the toilet. And, as I pointed out in the last issue, formulation has a lot to do with bioavailability, the readiness of a product to be taken up and used in the right way by the right body parts. A great example of this can be found in Vitamin B6. I recommend that instead of taking ordinary B6 supplementation, they try P5P, Pyridoxine 5 Phosphate, because this form is instantly available to the body, and it’s what the body has to convert B6 into, in order for it to do its job. Many B6 supplements come in the inactive pyridoxine HCL form. In some cases supplementation of this form singularly, caused a reversible numbness and tingling of the extremities, in doses as low as 200 mg daily, over a 3-year period. This problem was thought to be secondary to the liver’s inability to convert this form into the useable P5P form. Using P5P avoids this problem, by supplying this accessible form directly to the body. It’s the P5P our bodies really need to break down and use fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, to make red blood cells and antibodies, to help the digestive and nervous systems function, and to maintain healthy skin. But some folks have trouble-converting pyridoxine into P5P. Those susceptible to a deficiency include some breast-fed infants, elderly persons on a poor diet, and women on estrogen-containing oral contraceptive pills. P5P is the only form of B6 that the fetus and newborn baby can use, so it is of great importance during pregnancy and for neonates, especially those who might be prone to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). In premature babies, who are more susceptible than full-term babies to SIDS, the use of the pyridoxine form of B6 can result in irreversible central nervous system damage. And lack of P5P can predispose a surviving premature infant to atherosclerosis in later life. In fact, B6 has recently been found to benefit the autistic, and it is thought the P5P

June/July 2010

“Heeeeeyyyyy, got sum chay-ange” by Lee Smith form may even provide more benefit to those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is to be hoped that research will continue in this area. Vitamin B6 is also often prescribed for people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. But the fact that B6 benefits some persons with CTS, and not others, we think may well be traced to the person’s ability or inability to make P5P from pyridoxine. You can see from this information that it is vitally important to both your health and your pocketbook that you know a bit about the supplements you are prescribed, or just want to take, before spending good money for less-than-optimal results. For this reason I want to introduce you to my new product website, www.life-choice.net, where you can browse information about how these products are made, what they are meant to do, and what you should avoid. It is not a retail site; Life Choice does not sell directly to consumers. But you can research different products and learn a great deal about a wide range of nutrients, then make decisions about what is best for you. And, remember, you can address your questions to me here, at docisin.doc@gmail. com. I look forward to hearing from you! could talk about the corporations. Or the bankers. Or every other white collar criminal in our midst. However today we will focus on something we can immediately do something about. The common Vancouver junkie. Every time I am on transit we hear people bitching about the crack headed cowards who walk in and steal, or run up and take purses, or break into your car in the morning before you go to work. Or of course the west coast jingle of ‘Heeeeeyyyyy, got sum chay-ange’ as you saunter off to your slightly better than minimum wage job’. The worst part is we all know these drug addled scum are up to no good. Everyone of us knows they are out begging and stealing to fuel their addiction, and usually getting welfare from the state. Welfare money which could be better used to improve any number of our failing social institutions. It really seems like everywhere you go in this fine city you see these wastes of flesh stumbling around like a retarded version of a Johnny Depp playing Hunter Thompson in an ether binge, covered in week old filth, and smelling like a peasant from a Monty Python skit. Obviously, this is becoming a problem because the complaining of average and everyday people is becoming an epidemic.

Fortunately its a problem you can do something about. So, the first thing you can do is to tell these low-level parasites is where to go when they are begging. “F*** off and clean up!” Sure this is a brutal thing to say. But someone has to say it. These people do not need a pat on the head and an ‘its ok, you will get better’, or the seemingly obligatory ‘you will be ok, its not your fault’. They also do not deserve your sympathy, your sandwich, or your beer money. They deserve a hard kick in the ass to a rehabilitation facility, your nasty comments when they beg, and your fist, boot or stick when they steal. I am sure I will hear “these people are sick” or “have a heart” or “these people have problems.” Everyone, no matter who you are, has some kind of problems, issues (physical or emotional). No one is flawless, no one is perfect. As a human being you make the choice to wallow in your own filth, to be a shambling zombie-like parasite. But you also have the choice to rise up, cope the best you can, and be an asset to those around you, like so many of us do. After all life isn’t fair. No one is a special snowflake entitled to an easy life. In fact, you aren’t really entitled to anything. Furthermore there will be lots of times where life is really F’n hard. That being said, It’s how we deal with these situations, how we stand tall, and push through it that shows us, and everyone around us, what we are made of. So, what you should you do when dealing with these useless eaters: First of all, when you’re begged and annoyed, tell them off. If your not ready for a nasty reply, then in the very least do not even make eye contact, and give them nothing. If your being mugged, or they are stealing from you, then fight hard and give them hell; beat them with boots and fists, (or what ever is at hand) at least stand up for yourself. And if you catch them in your homes, hands full of your hard earned possessions and heirlooms, well I leave that option up to the individual readers imagination. Maybe 30-40 years ago I would recommend calling the police, but they aren’t going to protect you. Even if an individual officer wanted to help you, understand that his or her hands are bound by thick red tape, the knots tied by our corrupt politicians and lawyers aspiring to political office. But hey, we all have the choice to do what we feel is right. So if you choose to feed them, or give them your change then do us all the favor of shutting the hell up when they break into your car, house, or follow you down the street annoying the money out of you. asquatch Music Festival—a 3 day binge of live music, endless “woos” and good times. Located at The Gorge, outside of Seattle WA, this festival has been going on since 2002 and improving more and more every year. The line up, mixed with the weather, and general high spirits from the campers all around, made this festival one no-one who attended could forget. One enthusiastic concert go-er told me “The atmosphere is where it’s at. One giant party where everyone’s mindset is to have fun for three whole days.” After driving in the pouring rain down the I-90, for which seemed like forever, with one hour left in our expedition, the sun began to peak out through the clouds, and as we approached the camp grounds, littered with excitement and honey buckets, we all collectively felt the fun times that were about to be shared between the thousands of attendees. The perks, other than the weather clearing up for us, were the better sound qualities heard on main stage, as well as the overall good acts that were chosen to play this year. The diversity between the music made this

event easier to love based on the lack of repetitiveness. The down side, other than the cold nights, would have to be Public Enemy’s sound crapping out, and in my personal opinion, the over hyped long awaited performance of Deadmau5 which was supposed to be “awesomely crazy” which turned out to be more disappointing than anything else. My favourite surprises were The Dirty Projectors and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros performances, which were both fantastic. I would also like to pay kudos to Broken Social Scene and The National, both bands whom I was sure would be swallowed by the infinite sound abyss of Sasquatch, seemed to hold their own quite well. Props to Vampire Weekend and MGMT for excellent shows that had every single person dancing, as well as She and Him, who brought a slight tear to almost everyone’s eyes. If the experience of Sasquatch could be summed up in one sentence, my friend had the right idea—“Now that I’m here, it’s like fucking Christmas all over again. This is our pilgrimage, Chaucer had it right.”

Rewarding the Killers with “Healing and Reconciliation”: The Crime Continues by Kevin D. Annett www.hiddenfromhistory.org

The church-engineered “Forgiveness Charter” issued at the Parliament Hill rally on June 13 was a new low, even for Christians. Without returning the remains of the children who died at their hands, or facing criminal prosecution or even a subpoena for their torture and killing of the innocent, the Churches of Canada that ran the residential schools have now been publicly “forgiven” by native people - or the ones on their payroll, at least.

gentle forewarning: Canadian readers will probably skip this article once they see the word “Indian” in it. But pause a moment. This is actually about something else. A group of child rapists and serial killers recently issued a public apology to their victims, who responded this past week by gathering in their thousands in Ottawa to proclaim a “Statement of Forgiveness” to their torturers. Only in Canada. The fact that the “apologetic” criminal is the government and mainstream churches, and the victims are aboriginal, should make this scenario no less absurd. What is it with us Canadians, anyway? Are we really the most self-duplicitous nation on earth? Do we actually believe that 50,000 little corpses can vanish that easily, and generations of slaughter somehow erased, with a few lawyer-crafted phrases followed by orchestrated hosannas by clusters of government paid Indian flunkies? I’m speaking, of course, about the latest fiasco in the horribly embarrassing and shameful thing we like to call the “Truth and Reconciliation” process regarding the Indian residential schools. You’ll be reading and hearing lots about it this week through the controlled corporate press: about how “healing has arrived”, as images of smiling and satisfied Indians dance before your white guilt and assuage it, as they are meant to do. You’re supposed to feel happy and relieved, for those images are meant for you, the white taxpayer. They are meant to put you to sleep again and make you forget about the blood on your hands. The church-engineered “Forgiveness Charter” issued at the Parliament Hill rally on June 13 was a new low, even for Christians. Without returning the remains of the children who died at their hands, or facing criminal prosecution or even a subpoena for

their torture and killing of the innocent, the Catholic, Anglican and United Church of Canada that ran the residential schools have now been publicly “forgiven” by native people - or the ones on their payroll, at least. You have to admit it, but they are good, these churches: total masters of deception and guile. Not only do they get away with the mass murder of children, but they come out smelling like roses in the process. They’ve been able to do so, of course, only because of the collusion of their aboriginal victims: broken and brainwashed souls, by and large, who have been trained to bark appreciatively at any crumbs tossed to them by their white masters. There are occasional exceptions, naturally, but native people in Canada generally have yet to escape from the mental and spiritual slavery foisted on them by us: something I’ve learned the hard way over twenty years of counseling, protesting and fighting alongside them. Frederick Douglass, the black American who overcame his slavery, said once, “Make a man a slave and he loses all moral accountability.” For there is no such accountability at any level of the official native world, whose manicured and lobotomized “leaders” have all faithfully accepted the government’s fake “apology” and “forgiven” them for a genocide that is continuing. “Our leaders are our biggest problem” describes a non-enslaved native woman, Carol Martin of the Nishgaa nation, who works in Vancouver’s downtown eastside. “They’ve never dealt with their own abuse so they’re easy to manipulate. Half of them are rapists themselves. Look at this whole apology bullshit. “Steven Harper’s apology to us sounded just like when my ex husband tried making up with me after he raped and beat me. He’d do anything to get back on my good

side, so he could do it all over again. Once you forgive a rapist, it’s just a green light for them.” The green light was issued again on June 16 at the first of the government’s $60 million Truth and Reconciliation Commission” (TRC) hearings in downtown Winnipeg: an orchestrated and heavily censored “forum for residential school survivors”. The “hearing” was anything but that: an enormous hoopla and distraction featuring such establishment redskins as singer Buffy Saint Marie, and “healing tents” run by the child-raping churches themselves, the event gave survivors a few hours each day to “share” their story of torture after attending a mandatory “training course” in how to do so, with the same kind of sensitivity and purpose as when mafia goons help to “instruct” Teamster members on how to vote at union meetings. Fortunately, a few genuine indigenous people were there to tell the truth and oppose the whitewash. Chief Peter Yellow Quill of Long Plains Anishinabe Nation in Manitoba led a counter-TRC protest that day that drew national media attention. In the face of screaming opponents and harassment by security guards, Peter stood with a sign outside the TRC proclaiming : “All the Children Need a Proper Burial: Stop the TRC Cover Up.” “They won’t let us name names or tell about the children who were killed in this TRC” said Peter to reporters. “But we won’t be gagged anymore, including by our own people. We need our own inquiry to tell the whole story of residential schools to the world. Then maybe the world will take us seriously.” Peter has a good chance of being heard, despite the presence of the TRC, since European politicians have answered the call of our network to investigate Canada and its churches for genocide. But as long as the

rapists and serial killers remain in power in Canada, and dictate reality and “healing” to the rest of us, the duplicitous bullshit of the TRC can only continue. ...................................................................... Premier Campbell Relent on HST? Don’t Count on It by John Doty Jr

B

y now you have most likely heard of the Bilderberg Group. The shadowy organization that meets once a year, usually at a fine resort somewhere in the world. The security frenzy is immense and unrivaled by any other secret gathering in the world. That’s because the attendees are political figures, corporate kings, royalty and global strategists. Up until a few years ago you wouldn’t hear a whisper about it from the mainstream media. These days though, it’s a lot harder to pull that feat off. A simple Google News search will reveal hundreds of articles about their latest gathering in Spain in early June. People are whisked in and out in tinted cars through back entrances and underground car ports. Concerned and well-informed citizens dot the thoroughly enforced perimeter with cameras, trying to capture any images that might reveal an identity. No unauthorized people are allowed anywhere near the event. Nothing discussed is made public. A yearly meeting of the most powerful people on the planet and we don’t get to know what they talk about. Look at how far we have come since the days of monarchs and dictators. Canada made a good showing at this year’s conference. At least five Canadians attended the four day gathering in Spain earlier this month, including: CBC’s Peter Mansbridge; former premier and ambassador Frank McKenna; Robert Prichard, the president of Ontario’s Metrolinx; Indigo Books’ Heather Reisman; and B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell. At first, Gordon’s team wouldn’t comment on it. Until the evidence forced them to respond. It was revealed Gordon went on the B.C. taxpayer’s dime. Don’t worry though. In a vomit-inducing mischaracterization of the annual meeting’s far from altruistic purpose, as documented by reporters like Jim Tucker and author Daniel Estulin, Campbell said, “We talked about how is it possible to feed the world and what are the barriers that are in the way of us actually accomplishing that goal.” What does he take us

for? Complete zombies? We don’t really know why Campbell was at the Bilderberg meeting. Because they won’t tell us why they meet. But we do know that interest on public debt costs Canadians $170-million a day. Canada doesn’t borrow from the Bank of Canada anymore, it borrows nearly all of it’s money from private banks. Banks heavily represented at Bilderberg. To which we owe interest. Up until 1938 we had been borrowing from our own bank at near zero interest. In 1974, the Canadian government decided to stop borrowing from itself and start borrowing from private banks, essentially undoing the work of Prime Minister Mackenzie King. In 1938, he changed the Bank of Canada from a private company to a crown corporation. It took only 36 years for the bankers to work their way back in. The result was a huge increase in Canadian federal debt from $18-billion to $464-billion in 2009. Taxes being imposed in B.C. and Ontario like the HST shift tax burdens from corporations to working citizens. The HST is just one facet of Canada’s push to compete with thirdworld countries with little or no corporate taxes, fees or regulations. Globalization. The lowering of living standards for the people of the world while increasing corporate profits. Higher taxes on the people will allow the government to pay back the interest to private banks while not upsetting big business, a worthy cause. Campbell shows his true colors by attending an elite gathering of world power brokers and decision makers. The same type of people that support the bank bail-outs and IMF “austerity measures”. The same people who cheer-lead for the off-shoring of jobs to foreign countries. So is Campbell going to listen to the public outcry and the wildly successful anti-HST initiatives? I wonder what his Bilderberg banker cronies would think of that.

Genetically Modified Food Endangers Canada by Jeff Leggat

By labeling these items “Novel Foods” Health Canada has effectively protected itself from all future liability if these items prove to be medically harmful.

A

t what point is food no longer good for us, Canada? Have you heard of the multinational chemical corporation Monsanto? Did you know it is one of many GMO corporations currently threatening to destroy the Canadian agricultural economy? Monsanto was founded in 1901, in St. Louis, Missouri by John Francis Queeny, a 30-year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry. The company’s first product was the artificial sweetener saccharin sold to CocaCola, the company that supplied Monsanto’s start up capital. Later products included aspirin, salicylic acid, rubber and sulfuric acid. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto)

"Monsanto remains one of the top 10 US chemical companies with an arsenal of highly poisonous products along side a number of questionable food additives." By the mid 1900s Monsanto become a leading manufacturer of plastics and synthetic fibres. It went on to create such environmentally toxic products as Agent Orange, carcinogenic herbicides, PCBs and DDTs. The company expanded with the development of aspartame, bovine somatotropi (bovine growth hormone - BGH) and genetically modified organisms. Monsanto remains one of the top 10 US chemical companies with an arsenal of highly poisonous products along side a number of questionable food additives. Aspartame has long been questioned safe as studies produced serious issues including possible links to cancer. The actual approval by FDA was mirrored in political manipulation only further raising concerns over its use. It is noteworthy to advise that this company also participated in the development of the first nuclear weapons (the Manhattan project) and the creation of the US Atomic Energy Commission. In a display of extreme duplicity Monsanto partnered with the US government for many years to produce biological warfare agents while marketing aspirin and artificial sweetener for the health of consumers around the world. During the later part of the 20th century this chemical giant began focusing on the science of genetic modification in an attempt to boost sales of its most famous pesticide, RoundUp. By altering agricultural seeds to “work” in partnership with RoundUp, Monsanto would increase chemical sales while potentially gaining ownership of new and improved food - genetically modified seeds that could be patented. GMO (genetically modified organisms) became a reality with significantly altered Soya beans, corn and canola seeds being introduced to the US market in the late 1900s. RoundUp could be generously sprayed on these crops effectively killing troublesome insects and weeds yet not affecting the plants themselves. Furthermore any insects that tried to feast off the crops would ingest the herbicide from within the actual DNA of the plant and die. The crops could withstand any type of natural infestation and produce a wonderful yield come harvest. These seeds quietly became part of the human food source in numerous countries around the world and continue to be found in everyday foods. Canada approved the use

and sale of Monsanto’s genetically modified soybean, corn, cotton, sugar beet, alfalfa, tomato, potato and canola as early as 1994. There are a number of other companies that produce genetically modified seeds in Canada but none as large and as ruthless in their business practices. Monsanto is as famous for RoundUP as it is for using the legal system to financially control or destroy family farmers. By closely monitoring the sale, use and resale of their patented seeds the company has sued many small farmers around the world for patent infringement. “Throughout 2004 and 2005, Monsanto filed lawsuits against many farmers in Canada and the U.S. on the grounds of patent infringement, specifically the farmers’ sale of seed containing Monsanto’s patented genes. In some cases, farmers claimed the seed was unknowingly sown by wind carrying the seeds from neighboring crops , a claim rejected in Monsanto Canada Inc. v. Schmeiser. These instances began in the mid to late 1990s, with one of the most significant cases being decided in Monsanto’s favour by the Canadian Supreme Court. By a 5-4 vote in May 2004, that court ruled that “by cultivating a plant containing the patented gene and composed of the patented cell without license, the appellants (canola farmer Percy Schmeiser) deprived the respondents of the full enjoyment of the patent.” With this ruling, the Canadian courts followed the U.S. Supreme Court in its decision on patent issues involving plants and genes.” This ruling has effectively solidified two important issues we should all be concerned about, First, it legitimizes the process of genetic modification in the food source by accepting the manipulation of the origins of food for animal and human consumption. The natural evolution of food origins (seeds, vegetables and fruits) is no longer sacred or respected as natural nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fat, cholesterol and sugar are being manipulated for ownership and profit. Second, it allows corporations to take over the global food source (seeds and animals) by recognizing patents of GMOs and BGH as ownership to which others may not infringe upon. With GMO seeds being offered at reduced rates and being resistant to pesticides thus producing better crop yields, it is only a matter of time natural seeds are all but wiped out. To get a better idea of the number of GMO food source products “approved” by Health Canada for human consumption check online under Health Canada’s website http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/index-eng.php. Pull up the Food and Nutrition subcategory and look under the GMO and “Novel Food” section to see there are over 3 pages of altered food items that ultimately make it on to your family’s dinner plate. By labeling these items “Novel Foods” Health Canada has effectively protected itself of all future liability if these items prove to be medically harmful. Our government seems to recognize these items within a food and nutrition category yet specifically identifies them as “novel”, a word that transfers responsibility of the product to the consumer as non essential. Furthermore, our government does NOT require genetically modified food, additives or ingredients to be properly (and transparently) labeled as, or as part of, products sold in our stores. We as consumers are

therefor unable to make conscious and educated choices about the “food” we choose to purchase and eat. This practice also inhibits the export of food containing GMOs or chemically altered ingredients as well as crops that may contain, or may have been contaminated by, GMO seeds. Many countries do not allow genetically modified food items to be imported as most GMO items have not been independently tested for human health or environmental repercussions. RoundUp, the highly commercialized and toxic herbicide produced by Monsanto has been shown to causes liver damage, significant decrease in production of the male sexual hormones and a significant increase in miscarriages. This is the product GMO seeds are manipulated to be resistant to by including the herbicide in it’s genetic makeup. How these seeds are seen to be harmless by Health Canada is beyond common sense. It is important for all Canadians to know that Bill C-474 currently sits before the House of Commons Agriculture hearings. This bill is designed to protect our farmers against Monsanto, GMOs and similar food manipulating corporations that threaten our health, our economy and the very origins of food as we know it. We need to keep Canada as natural and toxic free as we can by restricting or banning the biological practice of altering food source crops. This is as much a health issue as it is an economic

issue as we will lose billions of dollars in exports if our crops become contaminated by these profit oriented, mad scientists! Please Canada, lets protect our food, our health and our Canadian farmers! Research Monsanto - look it up on Wikipedia! Research Bill C-474 and understand that Monsanto creates products so dangerous they are banned in many countries throughout Europe. Stop buying and using RoundUp - use less toxic alternatives or practices. Lets reclaim our natural food sources, maintain positive international economic trade and demand our food be as transparent as it is healthy!

n case you haven’t heard, canada DID bailout many of its big banks. Our finance minister dodged the stigma with some book-keeping voodoo, but the fact is it happened here much like everywhere else. Modern capitalism is collapsing, even as it rapidly reorganizes itself in to something that looks more like a feudal caste system every day! BUT I’ll leave that unsubstantiated in this article.

followed by militant statements of solidarity and criticism of the initial detractors. Overall, I’d say it was a healthy mix of opinions, but the militant arguments stand up to scrutiny. The larger organizing community has repeatedly stated that no-one’s ever heard of FFFC Ottawa and this got picked up by the press as one more criticism, so I have to point out that doing direct actions under an established name is a great way to get you and

Instead, I want to talk about the folks in Ottawa who took a cue from more militant parts of the world and firebombed a local RBC for $300,000 in damages, allegedly because of a broad political analysis that suggests people should be doing more of this. I’ve been following the reactions with interest. Who is FFFC ottawa? They posted a video of themselves in the act, propaganda of the deed in the post-post-modern age, where it makes a crazy kind of sense to film yourself committing acts of arson. They make general connections between all the big issues of radical politics in this part of the world, and

all your friends harassed and/or arrested or worse. Also seems to be a bizarre implication that a group has to do grassroots community work for a set length of time THEN graduate to firebombings. Makes you wonder what the quota is? Of COURSE no-one’s ever heard of FFFC Ottawa you idiots! They just firebombed a bank, maybe you were expecting public offices with a secretary?! Hello, you’ve reached the desk of FFFC Ottawa, we’re available for arrest from 9-5 monday to friday, thanks for calling! Militant cells are like film production companies, you throw up your tent for the

promise to bring their militancy to the streets of toronto for the G8/G20 trade summits. Local anarchist organizations were quick to point out that it was the media and “security experts” that branded the action as “anarchist”. Nowhere in their press release did FFFC claim to identify as anarchist and above-ground groups like Common Cause reassured canadian bank workers that anarchists are not homicidal boogeymen. It makes sense that they would distance themselves, their emphasis is on communities free of hierarchies. The Food-not-Bombs kind of anarchism you can take home to meet the parents and cuddle with. Then there was the reaction from the indigenous activist community, since the theft and rape of their land was a central point in the FFFC press release. There were strong condemnations and accusations of angry white kids hijacking native land claim issues,

duration of the project. Anything else just makes you easier to trace and prosecute. Many have suggested they’re agent provocateurs, stirring up justification for the police state, and I’m willing to admit it’s possible, even plausible. If that’s the case, it speaks volumes about the current political climate. Us radicals must be getting someone’s attention if they’re paying goons to burn down banks so they can bring the red scare out of retirement, blow the dust off that 100+ year-old witch hunt. Even more likely is that strategic analysts have been predicting a rise in radicalism for decades, knowing full well that the austerity measures required to balance the books will keep pissing us off as time goes on. The slaves get rowdy when master won’t even provide the basics anymore. I can’t help but notice a lot of folks have started throwing agent-provocateur-accu-

sations out whenever anyone does anything beyond state-sanctioned forms of protest. It’s a very unfortunate trend that serves those in power. It becomes part of the larger process where the more peaceful elements of a movement alienate everyone else who might have been their allies. Which brings me to the loud condemnations from within. You know who you are. You’re the crowd that says “I agree with everything except your methods! You have to play nice or you doom us all!” and I personally think you’re misguided at best, and at worst, indulging in some destructive denial. I read an essay by some toronto based activists condemning militancy on principle, and they cited the addition of 500 more police officers supposedly because of the firebombing. The punch-line is, there was already going to be 10,000 cops on hand for the G8/ G20 police state! They completely miss the fundamental absurdity of their own arguments as they criticize anyone who FAILS TO JOIN THEM in condemning militancy. Yes, that’s right, it’s not enough that you re-

ligence and Security Studies (sounds very official, doesn’t it?) Mr. Quiggin was quoted extensively as a “security expert” around the issue of whether the incident in Ottawa qualified as “terrorism”. I didn’t waste time wondering if they were going to brand it as terrorism, but I found Quiggin’s thinking interesting. He was at-once more insightful about anarchism and hostility towards banks than your average pig, and completely pathological at the same time. Must be why they pay him the big bucks “Banks are at the top of the hate list for a lot of international groups: anti-capitalist, anti-poverty, anti-globalization, anti-imperialist. All of them are focusing on the role of the banks and the role of the international economy.” (All of which is to describe those of us paying ANY attention whatsoever and actually trying to DO anything about it, but back to Quiggin) “Many protest groups are non-violent in their calls for change and so they can often be negotiated with. However, the core group that

main neutral, you MUST condemn diversity of tactics and all militancy as detrimental to the goal of a theoretical anti-capitalist mass movement. This movement would somehow walk a tightrope between reformism and being a real alternative, and the form it takes has something to do with years of patiently building bridges between sectarian groups, even as it insists on an us-versus-them mentality when it comes to certain tactics. The whole thing smells like manifesting a socialist utopia through the power of positive thinking. *cough* bullshit *cough* As for me -- I got to be careful how I say this since I’m easy enough to find and speaking for the public record courtesy of the Agora -- I think the level of tyranny society will face in the near future NOT ONLY justifies some militancy, but will force more and more of it on a timeline that shrinks every day. To paraphrase, peaceful revolution made impossible, starts the clock ticking on the bombing and rioting and it don’t matter if I like it or not. This society is working hard to birth some serious dissent. That’s the way the wind blows and the wind don’t care about editorials. I take issue with the high-minded arrogance though, all the paternal tones about how violence is “immature”. Strange to think of peaceful idealists somehow transforming into demagogues for the state, but that’s the power of the Ivory tower, nurturing ego while it shelters from the real world. Let’s trot out this pig Tom Quiggin, courtesy of The Canadian Centre for Intel-

was behind these kinds of attacks are largely anarchist, and their ambition, if you will, is to smash the state. They want to destroy hierarchical governments and replace them with collective decision-making and decentralized power, so there’s nothing that can be done to placate them directly.” There you have it. To these tools, it’s all about placating, pacifying. If you’re “negotiating”, that’s just buying them time to better position themselves. They have no concept of right and wrong, morality doesn’t interest them or even enter in to their logic. Worst of all, this pathology is framed as “professionalism”. You can’t appease the robots, not even by agreeing with them. You’re always in a threat-assessment loop, so there’s no point trying to dance to their tune. What’s another 500 pigs in an army of 10,000? It doesn’t make any difference, they’re as constant as gravity, the always-present threat of force, the violent deterrent to meaningful progress and change. The people who provoke the police state are it’s least-passive victims, but still victims same as the rest of us. The issue isn’t that CSIS shows up at your door because of a firebombing, it’s that tax dollars are being spent to have CSIS show up at your door. The root is the culture that rationalizes this behaviour and oppresses people until they’re mad enough to throw bombs. All of which SHOULD be obvious, but I’m compelled to spell it out as I watch the reaction to the FFFC’s little stunt. If you blame the slaves that resent their chains enough to rock the boat, what does that make you?

the story of soil

by rob avis

W

hat is the difference between soil and dirt?

Soil is alive. Dirt is dead. A single teaspoon of soil can contain billions of microscopic bacteria, fungi, protozoa and nematodes. A handful of the same soil will contain numerous earthworms, arthropods, and other visible crawling creatures. Healthy soil is a complex community of life and actually supports the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet. Modern soil science is demonstrating that these billions of living organisms are continuously at work, creating soil structure, producing nutrients and building defence systems against disease. In fact, it has been shown that the health of the soil community is key to the health of our plants, our food and our bodies. Why is it then, that much of the food from the conventional agricultural system is grown in dirt? The plants grown in this lifeless soil are dependent on fertilizer and biocide inputs, chemicals which further destroy water quality, soil health and nutritional content. How did we get here? How do we turn this around? This is the Story of Soil… Turning and Ploughing Soil It all started about 10,000 years ago when humans started ploughing the fields in the experiment called agriculture. The settlers noticed that when they ploughed the field their crops would grow faster. Based on this positive feedback it was concluded that ploughing must be constructive and more fields were turned. However, in actual fact the bacteria, fungi and arthropods in the soil are essentially nutrient locked up in biology. For example, bacteria is almost 90% nitrogen. Ploughing the soil was killing the life in the soil resulting in an unregulated jolt of nutrient available to the surrounding plants. Over time, with the death of all soil microbes, the soil is unable to naturally support life and the farmer had to move to more fertile ground. The agricultural pattern emerged: deforest, plough, irrigate, salinate, desertify, move on. How the Synthesis of Acid Changed the World About one hundred and fifty years ago humans discovered how to synthesize sulphuric acid. The synthesis of acid allowed for a major advance in industrial agriculture: the ability to dissolve rock minerals into a watersoluble form. This meant that macro-nutrients such as nitrogen (N), potassium (P) and phosphorus (K) could be added to the soil in a form that could be taken up by plants. As acid was discovered at around the same time as petroleum, this meant the advent of harder, faster and larger-scale ploughing with the use of water soluble salt-based minerals. Again, what could be wrong with a system that produces so much?

Plants and Their Roots Plants have two main types of roots: tap roots and hair roots. Tap roots are responsible for hydrating the plant, i.e. drinking water. Soil does not freely feed or give minerals (such as calcium, magnesium, etc) to plants and so in order to get minerals a plant must make a “trade” with the soil biota – this is the primary function of the hair roots. Therefore the hair roots are the mineral traders and create an environment around themselves called the rhizosphere - a habitat for soil biota . Through the process of photosynthesis plants produce exudates (sugars) and commit up to fifty percent of these sugars to the action of feeding and trading with the biology in the soil. When the plant needs a certain mineral, say calcium, it offers exudates to the biota that can provide calcium. This is a symbiotic process in which the plants support the biota and the biota support the plant. And so, if you plough soil and kill off the biota and soil microorganisms, how does a plant get minerals? The industrial solution is to feed the minerals to the tap roots, i.e. put water-soluble dissolved minerals in the drinking water, otherwise known as fertilizer. The advent of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus fertilizer (NPK) meant that we did not need to rely on a bank of soil biology to make our plants grow. We could add macro-nutrients at whatever rate we desired and grow plants faster and quicker than ever before – in increasingly lifeless soil. Have you ever salted a slug? What happens? The salt creates a large osmotic pressure on the creature’s cell wall and results in death. This analogy can be used to understand what happens to the soil biology when salt-based fertilizer is used (note that all fertilizer is based in mineral salts). So the salting of the land through broad-acre fertilization ensures that the biology is completely dead. As long as we keep applying fertilizer there is no chance for life to return. Without life in the soil, no natural mineral exchange can occur. Also, with plants being forced to drink mineral soup through the tap root, less energy is devoted to developing an overall healthy root structure. Fertilizer has become an addictive drug. It has eliminated the soil biota, replaced that function in the ecosystem, and now must be continually applied. Whoever controls the fertilizer market secured their market share the same way as the cocaine dealer. The Downward Spiral By the late fifties farmers were using NPK at record levels, tractors were highly advanced and the soils in the world were on a fast track to doom. The use of monoculture crops, heavy tilling, irrigation and fertilizer was killing the soil and making our plants weak and addicted to chemicals. Monocrops of these obese and sick plants became an all-you-can-eat buffet for pests

and the degraded and depleted soils a great opportunity for pioneer species (i.e. weeds). “No worries!” proclaimed the Chemical Companies, “we’ve got the solution for that too”. Let’s kill these pests and nasty weeds that are causing all the problems – and thus pesticides and herbicides were born. Without healthy soils to support beneficial fungal population the next problem to emerge for farmers was fungal issues. The “next solution” - apply fungicide! We are now left with dead, acidic and salted soils that are only good for holding up plants. Weeds and What they Tell Carbon is the building block of life. Any soil scientist, gardener or farmer will tell you that a soil with no carbon is a dead soil. Carbon and nitrogen like to bond together at a rate of 30:1 and most gardeners know that mixing too much carbon into (like mulch or straw) will decrease available nitrogen. The reverse is true as well and adding nitrogen (in the form of fertilizer) actually reduces carbon levels in the soil. Without carbon, fungus has no food source and dies. The soil collapses leading to hard packed dirt and anaerobic conditions (no oxygen). What comes next are Nature’s signs of a sick system trying to heal itself: weeds, pests and erosion. It has been proven that the weeds that grow on the surface of the soil are a response to a condition in the soil. For example, pig weed and thistle grow in soils high in nitrates (i.e. fields that have had a history of fertilizer use), and bracken ferns and blady grass grow in soils deficient in potassium (i.e. soils that have burned). Therefore, most of the agricultural weeds that we spray with herbicides actually have an ecological function. Club root, dandelion, knapweed, chickweed and amaranth all indicate too much nitrogen and anaerobic conditions they are trying to build the topsoil carbon levels. Weeds such as these do not divert a lot of the photosynthesis energy into soil biology relationships and instead they produce thousands of seeds and lots of carbon - they are fast carbon pathways. As the carbon in the soil increases, the soil is able to support fungal associates and bacterial populations encouraging the next stage of succession and return to soil health. Fast growing weeds and pest attacks are mechanisms in nature to eliminate monospeciation and increase biodiversity. If we truly wanted to stop the weeds and pests, the only real solution is to first understand why they are there. Weeds give us clues as to how to repair the soil and how to prescribe techniques to speed up the repair process. For example, if thistles are trying to build soil so that biodiverse life can return to it, we can speed up the soilbuilding process by adding the right plants and life back into the soil.

Patterns Repeat Themselves Instead of seeing the pattern that got us here in the first place we tend to trust in the system that misunderstood from the beginning. The countermeasures in industrial agricultural have all been based on too narrow a definition of what is wrong. When a decision is made to cope with the symptoms of the problem, second generation problems are created. It has now come to the point where we’ve invented and hybridized plants to grow in degraded soil / dirt and genetically modified our food to be tolerant of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizer. However, the use of chemicals is not just stopping the natural succession of the ecosystem, it is turning the clock backward toward death or desert. I find it particularly interesting that the soil & chemical Ag industry is the same pattern as the human & pharmaceutical industry. Treat the symptoms. Patent the “cures”. Profit from the lack of health. I also suspect that the slow death of the healthy soil ecology over the last hundred years of intensive agriculture could be directly correlated to the increase in disease, illness and mineral deficiency in the human species. There is an old saying from a farmer that I am particularly fond of: “I am sick of growing things that die and killing things that want to live”. It is amazing to me how much energy and money we spend in our quest to kill when all nature wants to do is live. Imagine what the world would look like if we invested the billions of dollars that currently go into killing weeds, pests, and fungi on processes that encourage life, and work with rather than against nature. The more you look at the current system the more you realize that our quest for domination over the soil is perpetuating a system of scarcity. What we need more than ever is a new paradigm to support a system of abundance and life. Lucky for us that new paradigm exists! It is a branch of soil science that is called the Soil Foodweb. Paul Taylor of “Trust Nature” has been an organic farmer for over 30 years and is one of many to show that the use of aerobic compost and compost tea can turn dead degraded dirt into life-giving soil in as little as three years. The cycle of biocides is being replaced with a cycle of life. When we design properties to harvest water which fix the water cycle and apply biology through compost the results are nothing short of miraculous. Nature wants to come back, we just have to help her out a bit. Best of all, permaculture gives us all of the design tools to make this a reality. If you are interested in more information on soil health, I highly recommend the book: “Teaming with Microbes, A Gardener’s Guide to the Soil Food Web”, Lowenfels & Lewis. The Soil Foodweb Organization is another great resource.

He blames the scandals on “a few bad apples who violated the rules” and who deceived him.” In short, Blagojevich shows all the hallmarks of a political psychopath, albeit a fairly obvious one. And he surely isn’t the only one. Just as the “best” psychopaths are those who evade detection, living lifetimes of successful crime, the best political psychopaths operate in such a manner as to hold on as long as possible. Robert Hare, in his 1970 book Psychopath: Theory and Research, as well as James Blair, Derek Mitchell, and Karina Blair in their 2005 book The Psychopath: Emotion and the Brain, observe that negative environmental conditions such as low socioeconomic status, abuse, and poor parenting, along with low IQ, are often associated with high psychopathy scores, particularly among those who engage in persistent, violent criminal behavior. These psychopathic offenders are often considered the worst of the worst in courts and prisons. However, these factors seem only to affect the expression of psychopathy. As Dr. Hare says in filmmaker Ian Walker’s excellent documentary, I, Psychopath, on the diagnosed psychopath and self-styled narcissism guru, Sam Vaknin, while psychopaths often tell of some traumatic childhood that made them the way they are, psychopaths come from all backgrounds, good or bad. Speaking of successful psychopaths like Vaknin, he says, “If you’re very bright, know how to dress well; you have, say, the gift of gab; you’re raised in an affluent family background; [then] you don’t go in the bank and rob it, you get in the bank and become a director...” In fact, Vaknin makes a perfect case study for the type of psychopath that is most dangerous to political institutions, and thus entire nations. Best known as an Internet guru for “malignant self-love”, Vaknin was arrested in Israel in 1995 for major securities fraud. The documentary follows Walker, Vaknin, and Lidija (Vaknin’s wife) as they visit several European institutions to test if Vaknin is indeed a psychopath. Vaknin ends up scoring 18 (out of 24) on the PCL-SV (Screening Version), developed by Dr. Hare, a score higher than the majority of offenders in US correctional facilities, and the cutoff point for psychopathy. However, according Walker, Vaknin, like many of the so-called successful psychopaths now being studied by Hare, Bakiak, and others, is not an “archetypal, textbook” psychopath. Contrary to the criminal populations, Vaknin is never physically violent. He has also been married to the same woman for ten years, while most psychopaths are seemingly incapable of such “commitment”, engaging in a string of short-term relationships. (His emotional treatment of her is another matter, however.) Most interestingly, he is remarkably self-aware, and his insights agree with what the experts have to say. For example,

in total seriousness, Vaknin had the following exchange with Walker: Vaknin: “I like to present a facade of the self-effacing, modest person. It gives people the impression that, underneath it all, I’m human.” Walker: “But you are human, aren’t you?” Vaknin: “I firmly believe that you want to believe that, yes. … [The psychopath] regards people as instruments of gratification and as disposable things to be used. … The vast majority of psychopaths, like an iceberg, are underwater, and like an iceberg, they are inert. They do nothing. They’re just there. They torment their spouse by being unempathic, but they don’t beat her or kill her. They bully coworkers, but they don’t burn the office. They are not dramatic. They are pernicious. Most psychopaths are subtle. They are more like poison than a knife, and they are more like slow-working poison than cyanide.” After subjecting Walker to a series of degrading insults (a regular occurrence during filming), and with Walker still visibly in shock, Vaknin coolly, and with disturbingly sadistic insight, described the process to him: “Your body was flooded instantly with adrenalin and its relatives like norepinephrine … Now when these moments pervade the bloodstream, your brain reacts. It shuts down certain centers and activates others. This is called the stress reaction, or stress syndrome, actually. Then when the abuse recedes, the adrenalin levels begin to drop. As they drop, the entire system goes into mayhem. So what bullies usually do, they start and stop, start and stop. That achieves the maximal stress syndrome, and this is the great secret of bullying. Never overdo it. Small doses. The victim will do the rest. —Although you are shaking much less [now] … I must do something about that.” This type of self-aware psychopath is perhaps the most dangerous individual to humanity. As his aspirations reach to the heights of control and domination, when coupled with positions of immense power he is free to express his sadistic “bullying” on a mass scale, free of the menacing restraints of social conventions, morality, and humanity.

What In The World Are They Spraying? Part II By Michael J. Murphy Truth Media Productions Could Aluminum, Barium and Other Substances from Stratospheric Aerosol GeoEngineering Programs be Destroying EcoSystems around the World? What would you do if you were told that toxic substances being sprayed into the sky are falling to the ground and decimating eco-systems around the world? This very claim, made by concerned citizens outside the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting last month in San Diego, sparked my interest to investigate further. The AAAS meeting hosted several top geo-engineering scientists who gathered to discuss the “plausibility” of implementing various geo-engineering programs throughout the world. One of the options addressed was the stratospheric aerosol geo-engineering (SAG), AKA chemtrail program, where scientists discussed the “plausibility” of spraying aerosol aluminum, barium and other particles into the sky to block the sun as a means to “reduce” the Earth’s temperature. When asked specifically about the potential risks associated with using aluminum in the program as an aerosol, scientists replied by stating that they have not studied much about the risks associated with aluminum and added that something terrible could be found tomorrow that they haven’t looked at. When probed further about the deployment of existing aerosol programs, the scientists stated that no aerosol spraying programs have been deployed to date. The concerned citizens I met outside the meeting were claiming quite the opposite. They came in protest after witnessing airplanes that they believe are regularly spraying aerosols into the upper-part of the sky. Many from this group have tested and found extremely high levels of aluminum, barium and other substances in their soil, rain, water and snow. Ironically, the substances that they reported finding are the same substances the scientists are “considering” implementing in the various aerosol spraying programs discussed at the meeting. They also believe that these substances are leading to the destruction of eco-systems and are coming from already deployed SAG programs. Due to the severity of this issue and my desire to know the truth, I was led to Shasta County in the Northern part of California to investigate not only the claims of what is being reported in the sky, but also claims of what is in the rain, water, snow and soil from what many residents are saying is the result of SAG programs. The first stop on this trip led me to Dane Wigington’s beautiful 2000 acre property overlooking Lake Shasta. As we toured his breath-taking land, he pointed to multiple trails that blanketed the sky. He claimed the trails are present on most days above Northern California. Wigington referred to this as a “moderate spraying day”. Like many other residents in Shasta County, Wigington moved to the area to get away from the

heavy pollution of Southern California that he grew up with as a child. His dreams of living off the land and becoming one with nature are now coming to a grinding halt as he is focusing his time and energy on the issue of geo-engineering. Wigington became concerned about SAG when he began to notice dramatic changes in the solar power that he uses to supply his home and property. Owner of one of the largest residential solar systems in Northern California, he began to notice very high declines in solar power. It can be decreased by as much as 60 percent on what he calls “heavy spraying days”. Wigington said, “The trails are literally blocking the sun”. He also went on to say that he regularly samples the fine dust layers on top of his solar panels and other outdoor surface areas and frequently finds very high levels of aluminum and barium. Wigington be-

lieves that these are a product of SAG programs. At the same time as finding decreased solar power, Wigington also began to witness dramatic changes on his property as the trees, grass, insects and wildlife started

dying. This led him to get his first rain test just four years ago. The results were shocking as they found aluminum levels at 7 ug/l or 7 parts per billion. Although aluminum can be found around the world in smaller quantities, geo-hydrologists told him that this number was quite high. Since that time, he has had aluminum tests escalate as high as 50,000 percent to 3,400ug/l. That is literally toxic rain. These results prompted him to get additional pH tests from two USDA soil scientists which yielded more shocking results. The pH of the soil was 6.6 in one area and 7.4 in another. This is over 11 times the normal alkalinity of the soil which should be in the range of 5.0 to 5.5. It is important to note the tests were taken in the forest far removed from any highway or industry. When asked what these changes can do to the ecosystem, Wigington replied by saying that it is devastating. He went on to say, “if this continues, we can only expect to see things get much worse. Not only are we seeing our trees dying here, but also a major decline in our wildlife and fish”. As a matter of fact, Wigington stated that according to The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, the salmon run, once seen in abundance in this area has declined from 769,868 in 2002 to 39,530 in 2009. That is over a 90 percent decline. Amazingly

enough, this decline started occurring about the same period of time when residents began to see a dramatic increase in what they believe to be SAG programs. Wigington’s efforts to get these issues and test results addressed has been largely ignored by govern-

ment agencies and officials. After a closer look at Wigington’s property, my initial awe of the beauty and breath taking views led to sadness, frustration and anger over the contamination that is literally destroying the eco-system. This led me to investigate further by seeking an expert in biology. I packed up the car and headed north to the breathtaking town of Mt. Shasta. Mt. Shasta has been known for its beauty, clean air and as being the source of water for some bottled water companies. Many travel from around the world to mountain climb and vacation in this beautiful part of Western America. Francis Mangels, BS in Forestry, Masters in zoology and a retired soil conservationist and wildlife biologist who worked for the U.S. Forest Service for over thirty five years, welcomed me into his beautiful home in the town of Mt. Shasta to discuss the “hidden” crisis that is occurring. Mangels alerted me to the rapid decline of fish in the nearby rivers and streams. Mangels brought me to a nearby creek that had an abundant supply of fish just a few years ago. Because the primary diet of the fish in the creek is aquatic insects, he performed a standard sample method to measure the amount of insects present. The samples he had performed before the alleged aerosol spraying campaign had yielded an average of 1000 aquatic insects. Our sample yielded only 31. This is over a 96% decline from samples taken just a few years ago. Mangels stated that because the fish live off of the insects, they are literally starving. This rapid decline is likely due to changes in the chemistry of the water. The only changes that Mangels is aware of are the dramatic increases of aluminum, barium and strontium which he believes is from SAG programs. We also took time to test the pH of nearby soil and snow which contained over 10 times the alkalinity of the normal pH. Mangels has evidence that this drastic change in pH is also due to the massive increases of aluminum. He stated that forests, fields and farm ecologies thrive in acidic soils. Aluminum acts as a buffer that increases alkalinity and can decimate ecologies in large amounts. Mangels also pointed out that snow on Mt. Shasta was tested and sent to the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) who found results that contained 61,100 ug/l or parts per billion of aluminum and 83 ug/l of barium. The normal amount of aluminum in the snow at Mt. Shasta is 0.5 ug/l. Drinking water allowable is 50ug/l. That means that the snow on Mt. Shasta has tested at 1200 times more poisonous than water standards allow for aluminum. Mangels said, “Mountain climbers that come from around the world are drinking the poisonous water from the snow on the mountain”. Mangels went on to say that government action is required at just 1000 ug/l of detected aluminum. Although he alerted several government agencies of these findings, no governmental action has been taken to date. Mengels brought me to several other locations around the town of Mt. Shasta where he tested the soil, rain, water and snow that also yielded tests that revealed the pH to be Continued next page

Continued from last page over ten times the normal alkalinity. He went on to say that these types of changes in soil, water and snow are very uncommon except in other areas around the world where people have been witnessing what many believe to be spraying from SAG programs. Mengels also stated that these changes have produced an “ecological crisis” and will have horrible consequences if continued. Mengels said, “Losses to our economy will be incredible and are on their way as we speak. Tree growth will be decreased which will result in the loss of logging jobs. It is also causing the decline of naturally occurring plant and grass growth that occurs in the normally acidic soils of grazing pastures, resulting in the demise of our grazing industry, fishing industry, and worst of all, basic agriculture in Northern California.” What is amazing is that these tests and many others throughout the world are largely being ignored by the very governmental entities that are required to address them. Some politicians, like Mt. Shasta City Council member Ed Valenzuela may choose to ignore the issue. Valenzuela was made aware of the mass contamination at a city council meeting where he stated that the city did not want to sample the water for aluminum because the request was a “can of worms” that would, “open a Pandora’s box” that the city would have to pay for. Although several local citizens volunteered to pay the $22.00 cost of the test at an EPA lab, both Republican Committee Chairman Russ Porterfield, and Valenzuela voted no to having the water tested. The mayor Stearns wanted the test, but was overruled by a 3-2 vote. This response is not uncommon as Mengels has presented this issue and his scientific data to over 15 local and federal agencies including Senator Feinstein and Senator Boxer’s office. To date he has received no response or action. Is it a coincidence that the substances found in the rain, snow and soil in this region and around the world match the exact substances that scientists are “considering” implementing in various geo-engineering campaigns throughout the world? If not, then why have agencies and officials largely ignored these findings that are destroying our planet’s eco-system? Could it be that officials are fearful of exposing a massive cover-up of a world-wide ecological crime? Or is it the belief that this issue is simply too large and too complicated a problem for them to tackle? Whatever the reason for this ignorance, we need to demand that our questions and shocking test results get addressed not only in Shasta County, but in every part of the world. Our future on this planet is dependent on this issue being addressed. Because this movement has come under attack from those who appear to be protecting the many political and corporate interests associated with SAG, it is essential that all of us around the world get involved by testing the rain, snow, soil and various outdoor surfaces and reporting the results to our elected officials and local environmental agencies. We must also reach out and educate all those involved with SAG who might be unaware of the environmental implications associated with their programs. Testing for pH changes and metals is simple and can be performed almost anywhere at a nominal price. Simple testing instructions and more information about geoengineering programs can be found on the internet at www.geoengineeringwatch.org . Biologist Francis Mengels can be contacted by e-mail at bioguy311@sbcglobal.net for more information on this issue, the tests he has performed and suggestions on testing procedures. Please take action by testing, reporting and demanding answers on this ever so important issue. Both nature and humanity depend on it. Water, the Great Mystery is a documentary film produced by award winning Russian film maker Saida Medvedeva . If you see this amazing documentary, you will be left astounded with the standpoint that once again, while America sleeps, the Russians are ahead of us. This is not a Discovery Channel or National Geographic film about the ecology of Water. It s a deeply thought provoking film about how the simple combined elements of hydrogen and oxygen may have consciousness and memory. Even more thought provoking is that scientists from all over the world ponder this amazing hypothesis in the film and share with us their latest research on the subject of the hidden mysteries of mind sciences that are exploding around the world in clandestine laboratories where no mainstream media dare to look. It is little known that the greatest physicists of our time knew a secret so powerful that if the general public were made aware of it, many would assume these great minds had gone utterly mad. If today they told us it was a reality that our minds possess and embody a force so significant it deserves to be considered equal to to the fundamental forces of physics and nature, would our reaction be very different? Or perhaps, because they knew this would be the response, this secret research into the hidden powers of the mind remained where it belonged, hidden from the pathological cynicism and harassment that characterizes reality viewed through the superficial lens of the mainstream media. The father of Quantum Mechanics, Max Planck wrote that: “As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.” There would be no Einstein today if it were not for the great open mindedness of Max Planck. Einstein was a patent clerk

from 1902 to 1909. It was Planck who lured him to the University of Berlin because he believed in his ideas. Einstein also became as convinced as Planck that the universe was conscious and alive and stated: “Anyone who becomes seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that there is a spirit manifest in the laws of the universe, a spirit, vastly superior to that of man. “ A spirit is not a force, such as the 4 forces of gravity, magnetism, positive and negative. A spirit is consciousness. Why is it that our greatest minds can make statements like that and they remain hidden deep under water for what feels like eternity? Well, they haven’t. They have merely escaped the pale minds of news desks. Water, the Great Mystery has an all star cast of some of the greatest legends in science today, such as Kurt Wuthrich, the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Massaru Emoto, the discoverer of the mind water effect, Martin Chaplin, Professor Emeritus at London South Bank University, Leonid Izvekov, Head if the Laboratory for the Research of the Structure of Water, Vlail Kaznacheyev, Russian Academy of Medical Science, Professor Konstantin Korotkov, St. Petersburg Tech University, Austrian physicist Herbert Klima, Effie Chow, Founder and President of the East West Academy of Healing Arts, San Francisco, CA, Rustum Roy, Materials Scientist, Penn State, Pearl LaPerla, American Immunologist, and many more amazing researchers. What is amazing is that after looking at all of the dates from all of the experiments done on the power of mind and water, we would think a discovery of this magnitude would be at the head of the Nobel committee today. The fact that it isn’t lends credence to the notion that there is a conspiracy to silence the truth about the true nature of humanity and the universe. Max Planck may have been understated

as a philosopher when he said: “I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.” -As quoted in The Observer (25 January 1931) When Martin Chaplin, Professor Emeritus at London South Bank University, faced

Part I

critics of the theory proposed in the film, Water, he found that the critics would not even look at the miles of data proving that water had memory. That is why today there is a blockade at the peer review level to acknowledge that consciousness may be a fundamental force of nature. If peer review will not even look at data admitted as authentic in the early 1900s, then how can we move forward? In the early 1900s, Heisenberg (the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle) and Niels Bohr approached Einstein with a new hypothesis; that the minds of the researchers were affecting the results of the experiments. They viewed this as a problem because to get accurate results in measuring quantum events, you would have to remove the researchers from the experiments, or shield the experiments. No one seems to know how they resolved the issue, because suddenly, World War I and II took center stage, sequestering the greatest minds to develop weapons, and in WWII, the Atomic Bomb. In 1938 Leo Szilard and Einstein wrote the famous letter to the president of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt urging the beginnings of the Manhattan Project, to develop the first atomic bomb. In 1939, at the University of Minnesota, Alfred O C Nier discovers the explosive Uranium isotope, U-235. Glenn T. Seaborg, shared the Nobel prize in 1951 for the discovery of Plutonium and his work on the Manhattan Project starting in 1942. All of the greatest minds were tuned into a new kind of physics: weapons and the nuclear age. The film, Water, the Great Mystery, beckons us with a inevitability of a new branch of physical research that includes the powers of the mind and the memory of the entire universe. If water has memory, and responds to human intentionality, then the whole universe has memory. This is because hydrogen, water’s constituent component, is the most abundant element in the universe. It is responsible for the birth of stars, galaxies, and quite possibly dark matter. If all of the Kosmos has memory, then perhaps the ancient civilizations could have taught us a thing or two about our role in the universe. The stars and the planets are alive with intelligence, and the Greek Pantheon of deities representing the planets may have been personalities to associate these living systems as intelligences beyond human. A film like Water, the Great Mystery, provides us with profound evidence, of the marriage of scientific and spiritual principles. See how water responds to the prayers of world religions, human thought, music, life and the mystical. See what hidden properties scientists are finding in water that may unlock new energy sources, new ways of growing food without chemicals, and more. see www.VoiceEntertainment.net

States Need To Launch Criminal Investigation Into BP, Federal Government’s Role

Mounting evidence shows disaster was deliberately contrived either through conscious negligence or outright sabotage and is being allowed to worsen Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones Infowars.com There can now be no doubt whatsoever that the BP oil spill was purposefully contrived, either through deliberate negligence or outright sabotage, and is now being used to further the Obama administration’s political agenda. Criminal investigations into the government and BP’s role in the disaster need to be launched by state authorities in Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi immediately, while local authorities also need to call emergency legislative sessions in order to take over emergency response efforts from the feds before the crisis gets much worse. While BP CEO Tony Hayward is busy watching yacht races, Barack Obama, who took two vacations immediately after the oil spill, spends his time playing golf. If this disaster is on a par 9/11 as Obama claims then why is he fiddling while Rome burns? Every effort to find a solution to this crisis while cleaning up the mess has been lackluster and half-hearted. The federal government’s hyped rhetoric about how bad the consequences of this spill will be has not been matched with the appropriate action to combat the problem. In hindsight, it’s becoming clear that the government has deliberately botched the response and prevented local authorities from doing their jobs, just as FEMA deliberately sabotaged the state response to Hurricane Katrina in order to make the crisis worse and create the pretext for a police state response, gun confiscation and ultimately more federal power. Numerous reports have surfaced of locals and state authorities being prevented by BP contractors and the U.S. Coast Guard from

BP Protest, New Orleans

helping to address the devastation the spill has created in the region. “(Louisiana) Governor Bobby Jindal had ordered the state’s fleet of sixteen vacuum barges to clean up oil in the Louisiana marshes. On Wednesday, the U.S. Coast Guard intercepted the barges and ordered them to stop the cleanup. Ostensibly, the Coast Guard wanted to “inspect” the barges — but then it didn’t inspect them. It just ordered them back to dock and then did nothing,” reports Fort Liberty. Just as happened with Katrina, BP in alliance with the feds have erected an ‘information blockade’ around the oil spill. Reporters have been harassed, threatened with arrest and prevented from accessing the affected areas. Oil spill clean up workers have been gagged from talking about their experiences. Foreign ships have been prevented from helping in the clean up process. Every effort has been made to stop the truth about the oil spill from being uncovered – almost everything we learn about the situation comes directly from BP or the federal government. This strictly enforced coverup shows that authorities are more concerned about protecting their information lock down than actually cleaning up the spill. This is part of what the Pentagon calls “psychological information warfare” and it is intended to deceive and confuse the enemy (the American people) so that they don’t uncover the truth. The Jones Act, which forbids foreign ships from operating between U.S. ports, can be waived in in cases of national emergencies or in cases of strategic interest. Belgian company DEME contends that it has the specialist vessels to fix the oil leak within two to four months, technology the U.S. does not have. By taking bids on a contract to fix the oil leak from international companies, Obama could have the problem solved within a matter of weeks, but he immediately refused the help of “thirteen entities that had offered the U.S. oil spill assistance within about two weeks of the Horizon rig explosion.” This is another clear example of the government’s motivation to allow the crisis to drag on indefinitely until they can use it to ram through their environmental agenda, which we shall cover shortly. Every indication points to the oil spill having been deliberately caused, either by negligence or sabotage, by a combination of BP executives and those who hold the reigns of power in the Obama administration. This goes beyond Obama himself, who is merely there to read the teleprompter and employ his fine acting skills in selling the agenda that the globalists hope to enforce on the back of this contrived crisis. On May 27, the New York Times reported on how just days before the explosion, BP chose to use a salt-water solution to seal the cement around the casing pipe which was known to be a far riskier option that the stronger heavy drilling fluid. The choice of using a weaker salt-water solution, in light of the safety concerns surrounding the oil well in the weeks and months before the explosion, prompted heated arguments between a BP official and crew members employed by Transocean, the rig’s owner, on the morning of the blast, according to

Douglas H. Brown, the chief mechanic for the Deepwater Horizon. “Workers from the rig and company officials have said that hours before the explosion, gases were leaking through the cement, which had been set in place by the oil services contractor, Halliburton. Investigators have said these leaks were the likely cause of the explosion,” reported the Times. Halliburton is named in the majority of some two dozen lawsuits filed since the explosion by Gulf Coast people and businesses who claim that the company is to blame for the disaster. Halliburton’s role in improperly sealing the well with a riskier option, and the consternation this caused amongst workers on the rig, is shocking given the fact that just 11 days before the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded, Halliburton, the world’s second largest oilfield services corporation, surprised some by acquiring Boots & Coots, a relatively small but vastly experienced oil

well control company, for the sum of $240 million dollars. Halliburton is profiting from the oil spill it helped cause because Boots & Coots is now “under contract to BP – to help stop the Gulf oil spill,” reports the Christian Science Monitor. “Could Halliburton have known that an oil disaster was on the horizon, and planned in advance to profit from it? News reports indicate they could have,” reports Raw Story. “The New York Times reported in May that BP was concerned about the rig’s well casing — which Halliburton worked on — as early as June of 2009. The Times also reported that a Halliburton employee warned BP three weeks before the explosion that BP’s use of cement for the well casing was “against [Halliburton’s] best practices.” Given that it was in the process of acquiring a company that would receive millions of dollars in oil spill clean up con-

“The author of Crime and Punishment never had a reputation for lightness in his soul. Now the Moscow authorities have postponed the opening of a metro station named after Fyodor Dostoevsky over fears that illustrations from his works that decorate it could turn the station into a ‘mecca for suicides’”. “The new station was decorated with black and white marble mosaics of scenes from Dostoevsky’s most famous novels, including Crime and Punishment, Demons, The Idiot and The Brothers Karamazov. But unsurprisingly for a writer famously preoccupied with death, the scenes include images of suicide and murder.”

Del Mar, Calif.-based Vivos has a plan for anyone fearing doomsday: buy space in a bunker underneath the Mojave Desert. Just in case, of course. The company promises that for $50,000, buyers can get a four-person room in a nuke-proof bunker that features an atrium, a gym, and a jail, plus an on-site restaurant, as the Associated Press reports. So far, Vivos claims that it has collected deposits on fully half of the 132 spaces available in the 13,000 square-foot bunker-presumably from folks worried about the world ending in 2012, terrorism, asteroid collisions, and other omnipresent bugaboos common to life in the 21st century. “I’m careful not to promote fear. But sooner or later, I believe you’re going to need to seek shelter,” said company owner Robert Vicino in the report. The bunker resides in an undisclosed location to prevent freeloaders from finding it. Reservations cost $5,000 for each adult and $2,500 for each kid, and pets are free, according to the article.

Mexican President Denounces Arizona Law Despite Laws Against Illegal Immigration in His Own Country Penny Starr of CNSNews reported:

At a joint press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Wednesday, President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized Arizona’s new law against illegal immigration. Pig virus contaminates rotavirus vaccines, but FDA says no problem Mike Adams of Natural News reported:

Rotavirus vaccines are commonly given to children, and this year’s batch of vaccines made by GlaxoSmithKline and Merck are contaminated with a pig virus, the FDA recently discovered. So the FDA called a meeting to determine whether injecting a pig virus into the bodies of young children might be some sort of problem requiring a recall of the vaccines. Can you guess what conclusion the agency reached? As reported by Reuters, the FDA concluded “…it was safe for doctors to resume giving patients Glaxo’s Rotarix and continue using Merck’s Rotateq. The agency said there was no evidence the contamination caused any harm…”

In other words, as long as they can bury the evidence and deny any link between vaccines and health problems — which has been the standard excuse of the FDA for decades — they can continue to claim the vaccines are safe enough to inject into little children.

BP and Coast Guard Threaten to Arrest Journalists for Covering Oil Polluted Shoreline in Louisiana Kurt Nimmo reported for Infowars.com: The U.S. Coast Guard’s motto is “Semper Paratus,” Latin for “Always Ready” or “Always Prepared.” In the case of BP’s Gulf oil disaster, the Coast Guard is apparently always prepared to prevent the media from covering Louisiana’s oil-soaked Gulf shoreline. CBS journalists were threatened with arrest by BP contractors and the Coast Guard when they attempted to film the beach. Karl Burkart, writing for Mother Jones, reports numerous, unconfirmed reports of cameras and cell phones being confiscated, scientists with monitoring equipment being turned away, and local reporters blocked from access to public lands impacted by the oil spill. “But wait,” writes Burkart, “isn’t that a public beach? From my viewpoint, it looks as if the Coast Guard has been given direct orders to protect BP’s PR interests above safety concerns over air and water quality, above the outcries of local governments in need of aid, and (worst of all) above the need for the American public to be informed about what is really going on in the Gulf.” On May 7, Wayne Madsen, writing for Oil Price, reported that the Obama administration and BP are covering up the magnitude of the volcanic-level oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and working together to limit BP’s liability for damage. “Only after the magnitude of the disaster became evident did Obama order Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to declare the oil disaster a ‘national security issue.’ Although the Coast Guard and FEMA are part of her department, Napolitano’s actual reasoning for invoking national security was to block media coverage of the immensity of the disaster that is unfolding for the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean and their coastlines,” writes Madsen. British Petroleum gave $71,000 to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, more than John McCain or Hillary Clinton. Madsen cites federal and state sources that indicate Obama and BP have colluded to cover-up the extent of the oil leak. Canadian Government Pays Organization To Troll Political Chat Forums Infowars.com reported:

The next time you struggle to comprehend how someone could spend their time trolling the Internet in order to defend and downplay whatever government cover-up or abuse is in the news this week, consider the fact that they may be on a government payroll. The Canadian government has been caught paying a media group to monitor online political discussion and respond to “misinformation,” in order words to spread statesanctioned propaganda, in the latest scandal to hit the Harper administration. “Under the pilot program the Harper government paid a media company $75,000 to monitor and respond to online postings about the east coast seal hunt,” reports News1130. “The government has a lot of power, that it feels the need to monitor public bulletin boards, or places where people express views and then to respond to that, seems to me going beyond a reasonable action the government should be taking,” said UBC Computer Science professor and President of the BC Freedom of Information and Privacy Association, Richard Rosenberg. A poll carried on the News1130 website shows that the majority of respondents, 77 per cent, are not intimidated by the fact that the government is monitoring their online conversations, and would not regulate the information they post on the Internet. Accusations that people who defend the seemingly indefensible in the aftermath of government atrocities, wars and scandals are in the pay of unscrupulous authorities, circulate on a regular basis. But the fact is that governments and transnational corporations have made a habit of using the Internet to spread propaganda by using individuals who pose as neutral observers. The innovator of these “black propaganda” techniques was undoubtedly Monsanto, who as far back the late 90’s were creating “fake citizens” via their PR front company Bivings to post messages on Internet bulletin boards lauding the virtues and scoffing at the dangers of genetically modified food. In the 21st century, governments try to harness the power of manufacturing fake consensus in order to dictate reality and jus-

tify their actions. Last year, the Israeli government announced that it would be setting up a network of bloggers to combat websites deemed “problematic” by the Zionist state following a massive online backlash to Israel’s brutal bombing of Gaza. Israel’s goal was to flood Internet message boards in English, French, Spanish and German with their own PR agents who would attempt to manufacture a contrived consensus that the IDF’s actions were justified. Like Israel, the U.S. military industrial complex hires armies of trolls to spew propaganda in defense of the war on terror and in support of bombing whatever brokenbacked third world country is being targeted next. CENTCOM has programs underway to infiltrate blogs and message boards to ensure people, “have the opportunity to read positive stories,”presumably about how Iraq is a wonderful liberated democracy and the war on terror really is about protecting Americans from Al-CIAda. In May 2008, it was revealed that the Pentagon was expanding “Information Operations” on the Internet with purposefully set up foreign news websites, designed to look like independent media sources but in reality carrying direct military propaganda. More recently the New York Times published an exposé on how privately hired operatives were appearing on major US news networks promoting the interests and operations of the Pentagon and generating favorable news coverage of the so-called war on terror while posing as independent military analysts. This operation was formally announced In 2006 when the Pentagon set up a unit to “better promote its message across 24-hour rolling news outlets, and particularly on the internet”. Again, the Pentagon said the move would boost its ability to counter “inaccurate” news stories and exploit new media. Last year, the US Air Force announced a “counter-blog” response plan aimed at fielding and reacting to material from bloggers who have “negative opinions about the US government and the Air Force.” The plan, created by the public affairs arm of the Air Force, includes a detailed twelve-point “counter blogging” flow-chart that dictates how officers should tackle what are described as “trolls,” “ragers,” and “misguided” online writers.

Of all the dumb ideas….

I was headed downtown on the subway, rushing to make a ThatChannel.com interview on time, when onto the car stepped, of all people, the Mayor of Toronto. Accompanied by two rather burly fellows who looked like they could be pretty menacing if required, David Miller took up a position by the door, rather than seating himself (note to self: those plexi-glass panels are probably bullet-proof), and I leaned around the panel and said hello. I’ve known Miller for quite a few years, very casually, of course, but I met him in the political arena with other candidates, so he was not uncomfortable chatting with me, which was nice, considering the aforesaid burly young men. The conversation was pretty banal, mostly centered on his pending retirement from the rigors of being Mayor. “How’s your retirement so far?” I asked, knowing that his new role as a lame duck Mayor carried a lot less stress than did his whole-duck one. After all, aside from a lot of ceremonial stuff, he doesn’t have a lot to worry about now. Even if the G20 is a disaster (it already is) and a nightmare for most of this very congested city, nobody is going to blame Miller: he’s leaving. “Busy,” he said, grinning. I brought up the topic of the overweening security measures being deployed across the city, and Miller sighed, seemingly resigned to what is being thrust upon Toronto, without anybody kissing her first. Then I asked him a question that put a really odd, quizzical look on his face: “What’s with all the cops, David? I mean, can you imagine what it feels like, to be so hated by the common people that you have to have all those cops?” Miller was quick to recover his aplomb, and said, “Look at me, I can ride the subway all day, and I always find people to be really friendly and nice.” I thought I detected a note of relief in his voice. We said goodbye at Bloor Station where I changed trains, but our encounter got me thinking, and increasingly steamed, about the level of intrusion this city, and the ridiculously expensive but stunningly beautiful town of Huntsville, are suffering already, with the meetings of the G8 and G20 still nearly three weeks away. Later, I watched the local news, replete with video of the laying of huge concrete barriers with steel fencing attached around the city’s core, a cage of major proportions, in and out of which some 40,000 Torontonians living there in ritzy condos by the lake must travel daily, through security checkpoints, until well after all the big cheeses have left town. It was bad enough in the conceptualizing of it all, but now the stark realities of this debacle are landing amongst us, the only retort I can come up with is “of all the dumb ideas, holding this meeting here really takes the cake”.

One point one billion dollars. That’s the price tag for all this ubersecurity, the cameras, the SWAT teams, the covert agencies, the helicopters, and let’s not forget the complete video coverage --- of every niche of every street in the area. We are told not to be alarmed by the sight of military vehicles roaming our downtown streets. Me, I wonder how anyone could not be alarmed. Itchy trigger fingers and smartmouthed locals do not mix well. Every day, to some degree, we are given a pre-G20 peek at the wondrous security arrangements made to protect these

We, the sheeple, have the last laugh on these guys, even if they do give us a hard time with their posturing, doublespeak, and outright flim-flam. What flabbergasts me, though, is how willingly the sheeple trot off to the slaughter, albeit with loud grumbling. Sacrificial lambs thus far include: the Toronto Blue Jays, whose home series with Pittsburgh has been moved to Pittsburgh; major theatre productions, leaving ticketholders fuming; users of Canada’s busiest train terminus, Union Station, who will have to enter by inconvenient entrances just to catch a commuter train, under the watchful eye of large dudes with big guns; hot dog vendors, who may only vend from specific sites in the city by law, but whose sites, and incomes, have been suspended for fat cats eating filets; students at the University of Toronto, who will be forced out of their resi-

imprisoned, owned by the wealth and position they sought for themselves: for all of their ability to move around, they must do so in ongoing fear of their lives, and of their families’ lives. This is not freedom, yet they pretend to treat us as slaves, ordering us to surrender our lives to a bunch of geezers sitting around a table, quaffing very good wine and very expensive food, all on our tab. (Haven’t these guys heard of Marie Antoi-

of those exclusive and expensive dockside condos, many of whom are planning unexpected vacations rather than submit to the indignity of showing their papers to go home after work. Two and a half hours north of Toronto, the splendidly-appointed Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, in the center of the glorious Muskoka Lakes district, will host the greater puppets, before they descend upon the

Big Smoke to join the lesser puppets. There, cottages normally rented out are rendered unavailable, for security purposes. Steel fences litter the pristine woodlands, check-points dot the winding roads wandering around lakes and steep rocks that have inspired artists for generations, and tourist-driven businesses are locked down tight, despite the early heat of summery weather that would normally bring extra seasonal profits. The place may never be quite the same. Well, maybe if they air it out well… Bear in mind, that $1.1Billion security price tag, nearly quadruple the amount spent on the Olympic games, does not include the compensation that will have to be offered to those upon whom these meetings are inflicting damage, some of it severe. And there will be no compensation for the general inconvenience, traffic gridlock, and overall frustration of Toronto’s approximately 3 million other citizens. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the intimidation factor being strewn across news media on a daily basis. Oh yeah, jackboots, face shields, Kevlar, all sorts of ominous paraphernalia, all in matching SWAT black, displaying their skills (they call it practicing, but if they have to practice to do the job, why didn’t we hire people who already knew how?), rappelling down buildings and trotting out their mounted brigade in full armor. The tricks they can do with ordinary bicycles are amazing. And if their black presence is not intimidating enough, their shielded riot police march in lockstep and beat their billy-clubs against their shields in a thunderous beat, the way they did the night Dudley George was shot. The effect is chilling. They even saved the best for last: they call it a “sound cannon”, and it emits a piercing, but “harmless” sound capable of disorienting and disabling large numbers of people. But oh, no, they wouldn’t use it on protestors, heavens no. Who else would you use it on, and how dumb do you think people are? And if you have a small bunch of rioters at the front of a large crowd of peaceful demonstrators, how does that sound cannon distinguish between the good ears and the bad? It doesn’t help that many are predicting a “false flag” event to happen on the weekend of June 25th to 28th. Concurrently, a mass exodus of the city is also predicted, with those who have means booking it out of town. Fast. Considering Mayor Miller’s closeness to the planning functionaries of this stupendously stupid event, it is not surprising that he appeared some kind of relieved to be retiring, when I mentioned how much fear these puppet governors must live with on a daily basis. But I have to ask myself why anyone with an ounce of sense would ever want to live in a world where people overtly hate you for the “power” you hold, your wealth and position being all that protect you from being ravaged by those you must control. On the one hand, you have all this great stuff, luxury beyond measure, at your beck and call; on the other, you have a constant threat created by having all this stuff, and more particularly, how you got it. What’s the percentage in that? If anyone can see a real upside to that, let me know, because I know a good shrink. Amidst all this pomp and paranoia, I wonder why these rich guys can’t manage a video conference. Or maybe hold their meetings in Iqaluit, where the only threat might be the odd polar bear with a taste for globalist butt. As I said…. Of all the dumb ideas….

tracts, was Halliburton’s overriding motivation to properly fix the well or to ensure it remained unstable? States Need To Launch Criminal Investigation Into BP, Federal Governments Role In Oil Spill 150410banner1 BP itself was aware of cracks appearing in the Macondo well as far back as February, right around the time Goldman Sachs and BP Chairman Tony Hayward were busy dumping their stocks in the company on the eve of the explosion that led to the oil spill, according to information uncovered by congressional investigators. The Mining and Mineral Services agency released documents to Bloomberg indicating that BP “was trying to seal cracks in the well about 40 miles (64 kilometers) off the Louisiana coast,” according to the report. The fissures, which BP began to attempt to fix on February 13, could have played a role in the disaster, though this is a question still being explored by investigators. Improperly sealed, the cracks cause explosive natural gas to rush up the shaft. “The company attempted a “cement squeeze,” which involves pumping cement to seal the fissures, according to a well activity report. Over the following week the company made repeated attempts to plug cracks that were draining expensive drilling fluid, known as “mud,” into the surrounding rocks,” states the report. As we previously highlighted, eyewitness evidence indicates that Deepwater Horizon managers knew that the BP oil rig had major problems before its explosion on April 20. A crew member who rescued burning workers on the rig told Houston attorney Tony Buzbee of a conversation between Deepwater Horizon installation manager Jimmy Harrell and someone in Houston. According to the witness, Harrell was screaming, “Are you fucking happy? Are you fucking happy? The rig’s on fire! I told you this was gonna happen.” The fact that BP managers were aware of problems with the rig and were seemingly unconcerned about fixing them, in addition to Halliburton’s clear financial motivation in improperly sealing the cap, only lends more weight to the already startling indications of some having foreknowledge of the disaster. On page 37 of British Petroleum’s own investigative report into the oil spill, it is stated that the Hydraulic Control System on equipment designed to automatically seal the well in an emergency was modified without BP’s knowledge sometime before the explosion. Highly suspicious stock and share trades by people connected to BP before the explosion indicate some extent of foreknowledge. Goldman Sachs dumped 44% of its shares in BP Oil during the first quarter of 2010 – shares that subsequently lost 36 percent of their value, equating to $96 million. The current chairman of Goldman Sachs is Bilderberg luminary Peter Sutherland, who is also the former chairman of British Petroleum. Furthermore, as reported by the London Telegraph on June 5th, Tony Hayward, the current BP CEO sold £1.4 million of his shares in the fuel giant weeks before the spill. So we have clear evidence of foreknowledge, allied with brazen financial motivation on behalf of several directly connected parties to sabotage the oil well, or in the very least ensure that negligent safety procedures increased the likelihood of an explosion, allied with the fact that the well was indeed improperly sealed by these same parties, much to the anger of the people working on the rig. But the motivation for allowing the well to blow and prolonging the crisis isn’t merely financial, it’s political too. The motto for the people who pull the strings inside the Obama administration, people like Rahm Emanuel and Hillary Clinton is to ‘never let a good crisis go to waste’ – and Obama himself has certainly taken that to heart over the course of the last two months. The elite are still desperate to impose a consumption tax on Americans as part of the move towards a “post-industrial revolution” and the kind of nightmare “green economy” that has left Spain with a 20 per cent unemployment rate. In a so-called green economy, over 2.2 jobs are lost for every “green job” created. The Obama administration has aggressively exploited the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to manufacture an artificial urgency in an effort to speed the passage of cap and trade in pursuit of a “green economy,” an agenda firmly supported by the transnational oil corporations Obama is claiming to be reigning in. Oil Disaster Will Be End of Life As We Know It johndotyjr.blogspot.com

John Doty Jr., Vancouver. This is it. It’s over. Get ready for the most insane year of your life. 5 years. 10 years. One day you will look back at your life right now and think about how easy it was, how innocent. We are on the cusp of total collapse, right at the precipice. If you’re like most people you probably have already decided that I am exaggerating without knowing why I am saying this. Well let me make it clear that I also wish I was exaggerating. I don’t sell survival equipment or gold. My job is not recession proof. I have a family. I didn’t wake up today and randomly decide to declare that this is the end of life as we know it. But I do research. I make calls and tune into radio, scouring the internet for news clips and analysis. I make a concerted effort to only quote trustworthy sources. The information that has emerged over the past few days confirms fears that this is actually an “Armageddon” event. I am being completely serious. Check it: The oil, spewing out at 20,000 to 70,000 psi, and the sediment within it has eroded the very walls of the well itself in several areas. This means that this is now an uncontainable gusher that is literally spewing oil up from dozens of sites across the gulf floor. The massive oil pocket tapped under immense pressure is now spewing out into the seabed. Capping the well does nothing. The oil pocket is tapped, the pipe is eroded and the oil is now spewing up to the ocean floor with intense pressure. Plumes are being generated everywhere. They cannot stop this. Human technology cannot contain a liquid at that pressure, especially at that depth under the ocean. We simply do not have the technology or know-how to fix this. We don’t. The relief wells are essentially useless now because the original well cannot be plugged so oil will always flow out of it regardless of how many other wells they dig. They needed to get into the pipe, fill the old pipe with mud and cement and then divert

is one of the founding members of the cap and trade lobby, and has consistently “lobbied for tax hikes, greenhouse gas restraints, the stimulus bill, the Wall Street bailout, and subsidies for oil pipelines, solar panels, natural gas and biofuels.” Indeed, BP has been a faithful supporter of John Kerry’s climate legislation because the company has “explicitly backed” a “higher gas tax”. If Obama is able to exploit the oil spill to ram through his cap and trade program, BP stands to profit to the tune of billions. Allowing the crisis to worsen in pursuit of this goal is mutually beneficial to both the Obama administration and British Petroleum. Obama’s “Agenda is to exaggerate the significance of the oil spill crisis to massive proportions, for two reasons,” writes the Telegraph’s Gerald Warner. “The first is that, the more Americans can be persuaded to regard the accident as a monumental, historic disaster, the less his patent impotence in the face of it will appear blameworthy. His second reason is that, in accordance with the Emanuel doctrine (never let a good crisis go to waste), he sees this as an opportunity to breathe new life into his moribund Cap-andTrade climate change legislation.” Obama has now indicated that he will push for cap and trade to be added to a weaker energy bill after the mid-term elections in November. Every week that the oil spill crisis drags on, Obama’s political capital for the purpose of pushing a carbon tax increases in the name of ‘reducing dependence on oil’. The government has every interest in seeing the crisis worsen,

the oil into the new well. But because the tapped oil pocket is sand blasting itself routes to the surface that grow each day in diameter due to the eroding walls and passageways, there is no “well” to fill. That is because whats left of the well is already dissolving. And each day that passes until they drill their so-called “relief wells” will only see the oil finding new routes through the escapes it has carved through erosion of the pipes and rock. Thad Allen, the head of the US Coast Guard, has said that the oil isn’t all flowing up the pipe anymore but is now “in communication” with the seabed and the surrounding soft rock formation. It is now blasting its own wells. Ya, that’s bad, but that isn’t even the scary part. Hydrogen Sulfide, Benzene, Methylene Chloride, and other toxic gases are also spewing out along with the oil. In concentrations hundreds and thousands of times greater than what is considered safe for humans. Lethal levels. When the hurricanes come they will absorb this toxic seawater and drop it as rain. Literally toxic rain. Let me guess, toxic rain doesn’t scare you. The biggest threat is already actualized with the chemicals entering the atmosphere and being carried around by the wind. “The media coverage of the BP oil disaster to date has focused largely on the threats to wildlife, but the latest evaluation of air monitoring data shows a serious threat to human health from airborne

chemicals emitted by the ongoing deepwater gusher,” the Institute for Southern Studies blog reported on May 10. Any one of these chemicals in these concentrations would be lethal. Mixed together it’s truly unthinkable. The fragile US economy, in the midst of a feeble attempt at a jobless recovery, overstretched by war and out of control spending is not equipped to handle a disaster of this magnitude. No country in the world could. Remember how well they handled the Katrina thing? This makes Katrina look like a grade school fire drill. Well I wonder how well they will do this time as they prepare to evacuate entire cities and states. See this and this. Once the evacuations begin the markets will tank. Once people are forced to grasp what is happening around them the global economy will come to a screeching halt as it’s engine, the USA, sinks into the throes of the worst environmental disaster in the history of the world. This will cause a dollar confidence crisis. Enraged citizens will riot and loot with no hope of a decent life ahead of them. Martial law will be declared. They have no way to stop this, only a theory that maybe a nuke would implode the oil pocket. Ya, we’re talking about nuking the earths crust under the ocean. Eventually the oil will make it’s way around the world as the entire oil deposit is unleashed into the ocean. Are you buying the crap coming from BP? The bogus press releases and the downplayed assessments? They’ve been lying through their teeth, censoring the media and destroying evidence. If you trust them, you not merely to justify cap and trade but also to have some problems. mothball plans for new exploratory oil drilling in the Arctic, something to which the administration had never wanted to fully commit. . As a result of the oil spill, which every action of the federal government has made worse, that drilling has now been postponed. Another benefit of the oil spill is that it serves as a convenient distraction and a cover for a number of other stories, primarily the gearing up for a military attack on Iran, which now seems likely as we learn that more than twelve U.S. and Israeli warships, including an aircraft carrier, passed through the Suez Canal on Friday and are headed for the Red Sea. The underwater oil field still holds as much as 97 per cent of its oil, 2 billion gallons of oil, meaning that this disaster could be prolonged for anything up to four years. Even worse, if studies into the abiotic nature of oil in the Gulf region hold true, the crisis could be never-ending. Given the multitude of alarming examples of foreknowledge, motivation for sabotage, and clear evidence of deliberate malfeasance and negligence, state authorities in Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi need to immediately launch a mammoth criminal investigation into the role of BP, Halliburton and the federal government in causing the oil spill disaster, as well as their continuing cover-up of the true nature of the crisis, in addition to their efforts to block local authorities as well as foreign companies from helping to both stop the oil leak and clean up the devastation it has caused.

WikiLeaks Inspired “New Media Haven” Proposal Passes In Icelandic Parliament

Meditation Improves Cognitive Skills in Just Four Days by Wee Peng Ho, citizen journalist

InformationClearingHouse.info

The WikiLeaks advised proposal to build an international “new media haven” in Iceland, with the world’s strongest press and whistleblower protection laws, and a “Nobel” prize for for Freedom of Expression, has unanimously passed the Icelandic Parliament. 50 votes were cast in favor, zero against, one abstained. Twelve members of parliament were not present. Vote results are available at http://www.althingi.is/ One of the inspirations for the proposal was the dramatic August 2009 gagging of of Iceland’s national broadcaster, RUV by Iceland’s then largest bank, Kaupthing: http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Financial_ collapse… Two changes were made to the proposal from its original form as per the opinion of the parliament’s general affairs committee [http://www.althingi.is/ altext/138/s/1329.html ]. The first of these altered slightly the wording of the

first paragraph so as to widen the arena for research. The second of these added two new items to the list of tasks for the government: - That the government should perform a detailed analysis, especially with respect to operational security, for the prospect of operating data centers in Iceland. - That the government should organize an international conference in Iceland regarding the changes to the legal environment being caused by expansion of cloud computing, data havens, and the judicial state of the Internet. Video footage from the proposal’s vote will be available at: http://www.althingi.is/ For details of the proposal and press contacts, please see http://www.immi.is

If you are still undecided whether to sign up for that meditation class, perhaps this piece of research news may do the trick. A study published in the April 2 issue of Consciousness and Cognition found that 20 minutes of meditation each day can improve cognitive skills in as short as four days. The research involved 63 students randomly split into two groups. Researchers trained one group on mindfulness meditation while the other group listened to J.R.R. Tolkein’s fantasy novel, The Hobbit. Before and after the experiment, students from both groups were assessed on their mood and cognitive functions, including memory, concentration and visual attention. A total of 49 students completed the experiment. All of them reported an improvement in mood, but only students in the meditation group fared a noticeable improvement in cognitive abilities. They scored consistently higher averages than those in the listening group on all tests. “Simply stated, the profound improvements that we found after just four days of meditation training -- are really surprising,” said Fadel Zeidan, a post-doctoral researcher at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and a former doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where the research was conducted. “It goes to show that the mind is, in fact, easily changeable and highly influenced, especially by meditation.” In one particular test called the “computer adaptive n-back task”, the meditation group did as much as ten times better than the control group. This test required participants to remember whether a stimulus had been shown two steps earlier in a sequence. Every correct answer will speed up the next stimulus, increasing the difficulty of the test. The group briefly trained in medi-

tation scored an average of ten consecutive correct answers compared to the listening group`s one. “The meditation group did especially better on all the cognitive tests that were timed,” Zeidan noted. “In tasks where participants had to process information under time constraints causing stress, the group briefly trained in mindfulness performed significantly better.” The study author, however, admitted that more brain imaging studies are required to confirm the brain power boost seen in the study. “But this seems to be strong evidence for the idea that we may be able to modify our own minds to improve our cognitive processing -- most importantly in the ability to sustain attention and vigilance -- within a week’s time.” The meditation training given to the students was administered by an experienced facilitator. Adapted from a Buddhist meditation practice, the training required participants to relax and focus on their breaths. When distracting thoughts arose, participants were told to acknowledge them and gently bring their attention back to their breathing. On top of the mindfulness meditation, students also received other training to enhance their awareness and concentration. Does this study imply that four days of meditation are all one needs to improve cognitive skills permanently? No, said the study author. “This kind of training seems to prepare the mind for activity, but it’s not necessarily permanent,” Zeidan cautioned. “This doesn’t mean that you meditate for four days and you’re done -- you need to keep practicing.” The findings of this study coincide with similar research done in 2007 that investigated the effects of short-term meditation on attention and mood (see Source #3). In that study, 40 Chinese students were given five days of 20-minute integrative body-mind training and exhibited higher concentration, better mood, lesser stress and higher immunity.

IBM wants traffic lights to stop your car by Lin Edwards of Physorg.org

(PhysOrg.com) -- IBM has filed a patent application for a traffic light system that can remotely stop and start the engines of vehicles, with the aim of increasing fuel consumption efficiency at busy intersec-

tions. The system would be able to receive position information from vehicles waiting at red lights to determine a queue of participating vehicles stopped at the signal. It would then determine the time still to elapse before the lights turn green, and if this time is over a set threshold (such as two minutes) the traffic light would then send signals to the vehicle engines to stop them. When the lights turn green, a “startengine notification” would be sent to the front vehicle to start its engine first, and a signal would be sent to the second vehicle in the queue an “optimal time” later, and so on. The IBM patent says the system could be applied to traffic signals at intersections, railway crossings, or other transportation

signals for “indicating correct moments to stop and to proceed.” Its stated aims are to reduce wastage of fuel and optimize the movement of vehicles through the intersection or crossing. The patent states that with “increasing vehicle usage there may be more traffic and longer wait times at traffic signals,” resulting in wasted fuel if the vehicle engines are kept running. It acknowledges that most drivers do not turn off their vehicles’ engines in such situations, and that more fuel may be used in restarting the engine than in keeping it running if it is stopped for too short a time. The system would therefore take into account the time remaining before the signal changes to determine if the vehicle’s engine should be stopped. The proposed traffic light system would gather data from traffic signal

clocks, GPS data on vehicle positions, traffic load information (perhaps from weight sensors in the road), cameras, and/or “other data obtainable from sensors embedded at the intersections.” The communications system may use Wi-Fi technologies, a cellular network, or satellite communications. In one proposed model the method would be made available as a “service” that vehicle drivers would need to sign up for. The stop/start-engine notifications could switch the engine off and on automatically, or they could trigger alerts to the driver to turn it off/on manually. her “homestead”, a glade deep in the forest, and led Megré into a world of cosmic consciousness. He initially spent three days with Anastasia during which time she displayed such astounding knowledge, power and wisdom that he abandoned his trading business and, at her request, began writing these books that became known as The Ringing Cedars Series. Anastasia told him she would encode his books with “an energy” that would lift readers’ spirits and cause the books to sell in the millions. Despite his lack of writing experience, this is exactly what happened. With no advertisement other than word-ofmouth, books of the Ringing Cedars Series have sold over 10 million copies in Russia alone, and have since been translated into 20 The Ringing Cedars Series, published by languages, making Vladimir Megré one of Ringing Cedars Press, is a nine-book collecRussia’s most widely read authors. tion by Siberian trader Vladimir Megré that chronicles the life of Anastasia, a mysteriSo, what are these books about? ously powerful woman who has inspired millions of readers worldwide to cast away their old lifestyles in pursuit of a purer existence. These books have proven to be immensely, almost inexplicably popular. During the three-year period of translation (by John Woodsworth, research associate with the Slavic Research Group at the University of Ottawa), word-of-mouth demand resulted in sales of over 100,000 books. Since then a further 200,000 books have been sold across the English-speaking world. All told, the Ringing Cedars Series has sold well over 11 million copies worldwide! How did this story emerge? Like nothing you’ve ever read before, the Ringing Cedars Series chal-

June/July 2010 lenges our entire way of living and thinking—with a scope so vast it cannot be easily confined to a single category! The books are written in a story-format narrated by the author, Megré, and they read like a fascinating novel, but they have the authenticity of a documentary account and repeatedly present mind-blowing insights of incredible depth. The books are full of practical wisdom grounded in ancient knowledge passed down through Anastasia’s lineage and contain a wealth of information on improving one’s existence and on living in communion with the Universe. Anastasia opens our eyes to lost knowledge on dozens of subjects—from the causes of stress and unhappiness to the meaning of human life, from raising healthy, happy children to creating healing gardens (tailored to an individual’s exact health needs), from ancient megalithic science to the esoteric power of breast-feeding, from sacred sexuality to the supressed history of world religions, and lots more! In fact—there’s hardly a topic, of relevance to establishing a happy, natural existence and restoring the planet, that is not covered. Why are these books so powerful? Series Editor, Dr Leonish Sharashkin, explains… “Many teachers have talked about “oneness”—that on some very deep level cultural differences disappear and humanity is all one, one whole. Yet grasping this concept intellectually does not help—it must be felt. When English-speaking readers from the world over tell me how they have wept or laughed as they read Anastasia, how they were overcome by anger or compassion—the same response I have seen in Russia—this instills in me a feeling of awe, as this “oneness” is now manifest right before my eyes. I do not know of any other modern author whose messages have appealed to the core of human beingness of millions of people, bypassing all the layers of cultural conditioning—with the same power as Anastasia’s.” How are they affecting people?

Many people have found these books to be life-changing. A huge wake-up call. A

reminder of who we really are. Over 40,000 letters and expressions of gratitude were received by the author in just the first 3 years of publication. What makes these books unusual is the mysterious “energy” that Anastasia’s words seem to contain, and her remarkable ability to strike a chord in the heart of the reader. Something in the purity and power of her words reminds the reader of their long-forgotten “pristine origins” and this is provoking an outpouring of joy and hope in people from all walks of life. After reading the Ringing Cedars Series many readers have completely rearranged their lives to reflect a more spiritually connected existence. Thousands of readers have felt a huge creative upsurge and started writing poetry and songs and creating works of art. Thousands more have been inspired to begin planting trees, growing healing food and flower gardens in their cities as well as their homes. In this return to sanity, many are joining together to plan the creation of new community neighbourhoods—where each family or individual owns their own piece of land and together take immense pride in creating beautiful family estates—natural paradiselike sanctuaries to be enjoyed by successive generations.

Former Nato Secretary-General Admits BilS derberg Sets Global Policy Paul Joseph Watson Infowars.com

Willy Claes

Former NATO Secretary-General and Bilderberg member Willy Claes has confounded claims by debunkers that the secret organization which met in Sitges Spain over the last few days does not set policy, admitting during a Belgian radio interview that Bilderberg attendees are mandated to implement decisions that are formulated during the annual conference of power brokers. In a radio interview reported on by the Belgian news website www.zonnewind.be, Claes told host Koen Fillet that Bilderberg does indeed decide policy for the coming year. Claes would certainly be in a position to know, being a two-time Bilderberg attendee as well as the eighth Secretary General of NATO from 1994 until 1995. Claes said that Bilderberg guests are normally given around 10 minutes of talk time, after which a report is compiled of their presentation. “The participants are then obviously considered to use this report in setting their policies in the environments in which they affect,” stated Claes, according to the translated text. The host asked Claes to repeat this astounding admission, before Claes went on to explain that no two guest are allowed to sit next to each other more than once at Bilderberg, to enable the maximum exchange of views on important subjects. A Dutch-speaking reader sent us the article and confirms that the translation is accurate. This represents a solid confirmation of what we already knew through witnessing Bilderberg’s leaked agenda later play out in the real world time after time – that the elitist organization does verbally set global policy in a completely undemocratic and illegal manner. However, despite Claes, who personally attended the 1994 Bilderberg meeting in Helsinki when he was Belgium’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, confirming the obvious that Bilderberg does manufacture a consensus amongst its participants, which is then implemented as policy in the real world, during the past few days numerous debunkers have claimed that Bilderberg is just a talking shop that has no impact on the global stage. Iain Hollingshead of the London Telegraph wrote a sophomoric piece in which he dismissed Bilderberg as “a group of willywaggling old men comparing their security details and dreaming of past glories,” which is a complete misnomer seeing as Bilderberg is routinely attended by active Presidents and Prime Ministers very much in power and very much in a position to have an impact on current events, such as Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who attended this year’s conference with his country on the verge of becoming the next Greece.

This is confirmed not only by former NATO Secretary-General and Bilderberg member Willy Claes in the radio interview we covered earlier, but it is manifestly evident in the policies that have later come to pass after being formulated at Bilderberg. Indeed, Bilderberg chairman Étienne Davignon last year bragged about how the Euro single currency was a brainchild of the Bilderberg Group. “A meeting in June in Europe of the Bilderberg Group- an informal club of leading politicians, businessmen and thinkers chaired by Mr. Davignon- could also ‘improve understanding’ on future action, in the same way it helped create the Euro in the 1990s, he said,” reported the EU Observer in March 2009. The foundations for the EU and ultimately the Euro single currency were laid by the secretive Bilderberg Group in the mid1950’s. Bilderberg’s own leaked documents prove that the agenda to create a European common market and a single currency was formulated by Bilderberg in 1955. As we first reported in 2003, a BBC investigative team were allowed to access Bilderberg files which confirmed that the EU and the Euro were the brainchild of Bilderberg The summary report of the 1955 Bilderberg meeting which took place from September 23-25 1955 at the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany, talks of the “Pressing need to bring the German people, together with the other peoples of Europe, into a common market.” The document also outlines the plan, “To arrive in the shortest possible time at the highest degree of integration, beginning with a common European market.” Just two years later, in 1957, the first incarnation of the European Economic Community (EEC) was born, which comprised of a single market between Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The EEC gradually enlarged over the next few decades until it became the European Community, one of the three pillars of the European Union, which was officially created in 1993. The 1955 Bilderberg summary outlines a consensus that, “It might be better to proceed through the development of a common market by treaty rather than by the creation of new high authorities.” The EEC was duly created via the Treaty of Rome, which was signed on 25 March 1957. Debunkers like Berlet will probably still try and claim that Continued next page

Continued from last page the idea of a common European market was floating around in the early 1950’s and that Bilderberg were merely debating contemporary political ideas. However, the same cannot be said for the single European currency, which wasn’t even introduced in the form of notes and coins until January 2002, having been first codified in the 1992 Maastricht Treaty. The documents prove that Bilderberg members were pushing for its introduction nearly 40 years earlier. “A European speaker expressed concern about the need to achieve a common currency, and indicated that in his view this necessarily implied the creation of a central political authority,” states the summary document. True to form, the single European currency, the Euro, was not introduced until after the creation of a central political authority – the EU itself. The document also stresses, “The necessity to bring the German people into a common European market as quickly as possible,” adding that the future was in danger without a “United Europe”. These proven examples of Bilderberg formulating some of the biggest policies of the 20th century do not even come from leaks obtained by journalists from within the meetings, they come directly from the mouth of Bilderberg’s chairman and Bilderberg’s own internal documents. However, leaks from inside the meetings uncovered by independent journalists have also proven routinely accurate in confirming that Bilderberg has a massive impact on policy decisions. In spring 2002, when war hawks in the Bush administration were pushing for a summer invasion of Iraq, Bilderbergers expressed their desire for a delay and the attack was not launched until March the following year.

June/July 2010 In 2006, journalists who got leaked information from inside Bilderberg predicted that the U.S. housing market would be allowed to soar before the bubble was cruelly popped, which is exactly what transpired. In June 2008, we learned that Bilderberg were creating the conditions for a financial calamity, which is exactly what began a few months later with the collapse of Lehman Brothers. Bilderberg has habitually flexed its muscles in establishing its role as kingmaker. The organization routinely selects presidential candidates as well as running mates and prime ministers. Despite widespread expectation that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair would be announced as the first European Union President, the former Prime Minister of Belgium, Herman Van Rompuy, was picked for the role just days after he attended a Bilderberg Group dinner meeting. Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were both groomed by the secretive organization in the early 1990’s before rising to prominence. Barack Obama’s running mate Joe Biden was selected by Bilderberg luminary James A. Johnson, and John Kerry’s 2004 running mate John Edwards was also anointed by the group after he gave a glowing speech at the conference in 2004. Bilderberg attendees even broke house rules to applaud Edwards at the end of a speech he gave to the elitists about American politics. The choice of Edwards was shocking to media pundits who had fully expected Dick Gephardt to secure the position. The New York Post even reported that Gephardt had been chosen and “Kerry-Gephardt” stickers were being placed on campaign vehicles before being removed when Edwards was announced as Kerry’s number two.

A 2008 Portuguese newspaper report highlighted the fact that Pedro Santana Lopes and Jose Socrates attended the 2004 meeting in Stresa, Italy before both going on to become Prime Minster of Portugal. Several key geopolitical decisions were made at the 2008 Bilderberg meeting in Washington DC, again emphasizing the fact that the confab is far more than an informal get-together. As we reported at the time, Bilderberg Herman Van Rompuy

were concerned that the price of oil was accelerating too fast after it hit $150 a barrel and wanted to ensure that “oil prices would probably begin to decline”. This is exactly what happened in the latter half of 2008 as oil again sunk below $50 a barrel. We were initially able to predict the rapid rise in oil prices in 2005 when oil was at $40, because Bilderberg had called for prices to rise during that year’s meeting in Munich. During the conference in Germany, Henry Kissinger told his fellow attendees that the elite had resolved to ensure that oil prices would double over the course of the next 1224 months, which is exactly what happened. Also at the 2008 meeting, former U.S.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice formalized plans to sign a treaty on installing a U.S. radar base in the Czech Republic with Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg. Rice was joined at the meeting by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who reportedly encouraged EU globalists to get behind an attack on Iran. Low and behold, days later the EU threatened Iran with sanctions if it did not suspend its nuclear enrichment program. For the first time, the majority of Bilderberg members expressed their support for an attack on Iran during this year’s meeting in Sitges. There was also widespread speculation that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama’s “secret meeting,” which was accomplished with the aid of cloak and dagger tactics like locking journalists on an airplane to keep them from tracking the two down, took place at the 2008 Bilderberg meeting in DC. So as we can see, there are a plethora of examples of Bilderberg setting a consensus on a particular policy area which later comes to pass at both the national and international levels. To claim otherwise is to be completely ignorant of the manifestly provable fact that Bilderberg has immense power in setting agreements on policy and exercises that power on a regular basis. In light of this, Berlet and Hollingshead are either shoddy journalists who have done no research whatsoever and are merely phoning it in, or they are being paid to deliberately spew biased and completely inaccurate information by the establishment they work for in a futile attempt to convince people that Bilderberg has no power, presumably in an effort to halt growing numbers of protesters who descend on Bilderberg each year, whom Bilderberg members now class as a “threat” to their agenda and secrecy.

Say ‘No’ to that doggie in the window—adopt instead! By Lindsay Pollard-Post If you are considering adding a dog to your family, there are lots of choices to ponder. Will your new family member be large or small? Long-haired or short-haired? Male or female? One of the most important decisions, though, is where you should get your new friend. That cute puppy in the pet store window may be hard to resist, but buying a puppy from a pet store steals a home from a dog in an animal shelter whose life depends on adoption. It also supports the hideously cruel puppy mill industry. Puppies sold in pet stores come from mass-breeding facilities in which dogs are deprived of everything that is natural to them. Dogs in puppy mills are treated like puppy-producing machines and are never given any love, attention or even a chance to roll in the grass. They are typically confined to outdoor hutches or stacked in small crates or wire cages. Many of these dogs are sickly. They often have crusty, oozing eyes and suffer from ear infections, swollen teats, gangrenous skin and foot abscesses caused by constantly standing on the wire floors of their cages. Many dogs who suffer from pneumonia, kennel cough, mange, ringworm and other diseases will never see a veterinarian. Female dogs who are used for breeding may spend their entire lives in these hellish conditions. They are typically bred every time they go into heat. When they are no longer “producing,” they are killed or sold for a few dollars in massive auctions. The intense confinement, lack of exercise and boredom of life in a cage drives dogs crazy. They spin maniacally, cower in fear or slump in

severe depression. For months, a PETA investigator worked at Nielsen Farms—a puppy mill in Kansas—where he witnessed terrible suffering. The investigator saw an Australian cattle dog with a palm-sized sore on her back who was never seen by a veterinarian and whose wound did not heal properly; dogs who became caught in the wire of their cages, injured their feet and hobbled around painfully, struggling to stand and balance; and a Labrador retriever whose collar became embedded in his flesh because it had not been adjusted as he grew. Even though the gangrenous skin fell away as the collar was removed, it was treated with nothing but a worm-repellant spray. For an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah’s correspondent Lisa Ling and

Main Line Animal Rescue founder Bill Smith visited several mills in Lancaster County, Pa., the puppy mill capital of the East. According to Oprah.com, they went into one building that was full of cramped wooden crates that were stuffed with dogs. “The spaces are so small,” says Ling, “the mothers are stepping all over their babies.” In another building, dogs were packed inside wire “rabbit cages” that were stacked to the ceiling. The dogs’ fur was

soaked with urine and covered with feces from the dogs above them. These cruel operations can only continue to stay in business because people support them financially by buying the puppies they produce. That’s why—if you have the time, money, energy, patience and love to care for an animal for the rest of his or her life—it’s so important to go to an animal shelter, visit PetFinder.com or contact a reputable breed rescue group. Animal shelters everywhere are overflowing with lovable, friendly, healthy dogs who would make wonderful companions but who face euthanasia if they aren’t adopted. Puppy mills, breeders and people who don’t spay or neuter their animals are to blame for the dog and cat overpopulation crisis that makes euthanasia a tragic necessity. Dogs in shelters are victims of circumstances beyond their control, such as getting lost or being turned over to shelters following a divorce or because their guardian has allergies. The recession and the foreclosure crisis have flooded shelters with dogs who were given up by people who could no longer afford to care for them or who moved into living situations where dogs aren’t welcome. Others were surrendered because their guardians acquired them on a whim and lost interest in caring for them once they discovered that veterinarian visits cost money, that dogs need exercise and something interesting to do and that cute little puppies chew and soil things and quickly grow up to be big, rambunctious dogs. Many have ended up homeless simply because someone didn’t spay or neuter his or her dog and an unwanted litter was born. Adopting a dog from a shelter has many

advantages. The dog is likely to be housetrained, a pro at basic skills such as walking on a leash and familiar with good behavior and proper canine etiquette. And while most animal shelters have plenty of adorable puppies who need homes, with adult dogs, “what you see is what you get” when it comes to the dog’s size, grooming needs, energy level and personality. Those whose hearts are set on a pedigreed pup should know that approximately 25 percent of shelter dogs are purebreds and that Web sites such as PetFinder.com make it possible for adopters to find the breed of their choice and still rescue a dog. Of course, mixed-breed dogs make equally great companions, and they don’t suffer from many of the genetic health problems that plague purebreds. Another reason to visit your local animal shelter: Dogs in shelters are usually screened for health and temperament issues, and for a nominal adoption fee, most animals go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, dewormed and vaccinated. Trained adoption counselors at animal shelters can help match potential adopters with the dog who will be the best fit for their personality and lifestyle. Many shelters also offer free training classes and follow-up support to help make the dog’s transition to a new home successful. Pet stores are about profit, period. They offer no such services, and many puppies who are purchased from pet stores are abandoned within weeks or months by frustrated buyers because the animals are unhealthy, expensive and difficult to socialize. If you’re ready to add a canine companion to your family, please “fetch” a dog from your local animal shelter, and be sure to have your new friend spayed or neutered. You’ll be saving a life—and making a best friend for life as well. Inside The LC: The Strange but Mostly True Story of Laurel Canyon and the Birth of the Hippie Generation Part II

own celebrity reprogramming rehab facility named, as you may have guessed, the Wonderland Center. During its heyday,

Abbie Hoffman

By Dave McGowan

Dave McGowan Center for an Informed America “He was great, he was unreal - really, really good.” “He had this kind of music that nobody else was doing. I thought he really had something crazy, something great. He was like a living poet.” [Today’s first trivia question: both of the above statements were made, on separate occasions, by a famous Laurel Canyon musician of the 1960s era. Both quotes were offered up in praise of another Laurel Canyon musician. Award yourself five points for correctly identifying the person who made the remarks, and five for identifying who the statements refer to. The answers are at the end of this post.] In the first chapter of this saga, we met a sampling of some of the most successful and influential rock music superstars who emerged from Laurel Canyon during its glory days. But these were, alas, more than just musicians and singers and songwriters who had come together in the canyon; they were destined to become the spokesmen and de facto leaders of a generation of disaffected youth (as Carl Gottlieb noted in David Crosby’s co-written autobiography, “the unprecedented mass appeal of the new rock ‘n’ roll gave the singers a voice in public affairs.”) That, of course, makes it all the more curious that these icons were, to an overwhelming degree, the sons and daughters of the military/intelligence complex and the scions of families that have wielded vast wealth and power in this country for a very long time. When I recently presented to a friend a truncated summary of the information contained in the first installment of this series, said friend opted to play the devil’s advocate by suggesting that there was nothing necessarily nefarious in the fact that so many of these icons of a past generation hailed from military/intelligence families. Perhaps, he suggested, they had embarked on their chosen careers as a form of rebellion against the values of their parents. And that, I suppose, might be true in a couple of cases. But what are we to conclude from the fact that such an astonishing number of these folks (along with their girlfriends, wives, managers, etc.) hail from a similar background? Are we to believe that the only kids from that era who had musical talent were the sons and daughters of Navy Admirals, chemical warfare engineers and Air Force intelligence officers? Or are they just the only ones who were signed to lucrative contracts and relentlessly promoted by their labels and the media? If these artists were rebelling against, rather than subtly promoting, the values of their parents, then why didn’t they ever speak out against the folks they were allegedly rebelling against? Why did Jim Morrison never denounce, or even mention, his father’s key role in escalating one of America’s bloodiest illegal wars? And why did Frank Zappa never pen a song exploring the horrors of chemical warfare (though he did pen a charming little ditty entitled “The Ritual Dance of the Child-Killer”)? And which Mamas and Papas song was it that laid waste to the values and actions of John Phillip’s parents and in-laws? And in which interview, exactly, did David Crosby and Stephen Stills disown the family values that they were raised with?

In the coming months, we will take a much closer look at these folks, as well as at many of their contemporaries, as we endeavor to determine how and why the youth ‘counterculture’ of the 1960s was given birth. According to virtually all the accounts that I have read, this was essentially a spontaneous, organic response to the war in Southeast Asia and to the prevailing social conditions of the time. ‘Conspiracy theorists,’ of course, have frequently opined that what began as a legitimate movement was at some point co-opted and undermined by intelligence operations such as CoIntelPro. Entire books, for example, have been written examining how presumably virtuous musical artists were subjected to FBI harassment and/or whacked by the CIA. Here we will, as you have no doubt already ascertained, take a decidedly different approach. The question that we will be tackling is a more deeply troubling one: “what if the musicians themselves (and various other leaders and founders of the ‘movement’) were every bit as much a part of the intelligence community as the people who were supposedly harassing them?” What if, in other words, the entire youth culture of the 1960s was created not as a grass-roots challenge to the status quo, but as a cynical exercise in discrediting and marginalizing the budding anti-war movement and creating a fake opposition that could be easily controlled and led astray? And what if the harassment these folks were subjected to was largely a stage-managed show designed to give the leaders of the counterculture some much-needed ‘street cred’? What if, in reality, they were pretty much all playing on the same team? I should probably mention here that, contrary to popular opinion, the ‘hippie’/’flower child’ movement was not synonymous with the anti-war movement. As time passed, there was, to be sure, a fair amount of overlap between the two ‘movements.’ And the mass media outlets, as is their wont, did their very best to portray the flower-power generation as the torch-bearers of the anti-war movement - because, after all, a ragtag band of unwashed, drug-fueled long-hairs sporting flowers and peace symbols was far easier to marginalize than, say, a bunch of respected college professors and their concerned students. The reality, however, is that the anti-war movement was already well underway before the first aspiring ‘hippie’ arrived in Laurel Canyon. The first Vietnam War ‘teach-in’ was held on the campus of the University of Michigan in March of 1965. The first organized walk on Washington occurred just a few weeks later. Needless to say, there were no ‘hippies’ in attendance at either event. That ‘problem’ would soon be rectified. And the anti-war

Vietnam War “Teach-In”

crowd - those who were serious about ending the bloodshed in Vietnam, anyway would be none too appreciative. As Barry Miles has written in his coffee-table book, Hippies, there were some hippies involved in anti-war protests, “particularly after the police riot in Chicago in

1968 when so many people got injured, but on the whole the movement activists looked on hippies with disdain.” Peter Coyote, narrating the documentary “Hip-

Chicago Summer of 1968 pies” on The History Channel, added that “Some on the left even theorized that the hippies were the end result of a plot by the CIA to neutralize the anti-war movement with LSD, turning potential protestors into

Peter Coyote

self-absorbed naval-gazers.” An exasperated Abbie Hoffman once described the scene as he remembered it thusly: “There were all these activists, you know, Berkeley radicals, White Panthers ... all trying to stop the war and change things for the better. Then we got flooded with all these ‘flower children’ who were into drugs and sex. Where the hell did the hippies come from?!” As it turns out, they came, initially at least, from a rather private, isolated, largely self-contained neighborhood in Los Angeles known as Laurel Canyon (in contrast to the other canyons slicing through the Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon has its own market, the semi-famous Laurel Canyon Country Store; its own deli and cleaners; its own elementary school, the Wonderland School; its own boutique shops and salons; and, in more recent years, its

the canyon even had its own management company, Lookout Management, to handle the talent. At one time, it even had its own newspaper.) One other thing that I should add here, before getting too far along with this series, is that this has not been an easy line of research for me to conduct, primarily because I have been, for as long as I can remember, a huge fan of 1960s music and culture.

Though I was born in 1960 and therefore didn’t come of age, so to speak, until the 1970s, I have always felt as though I was ripped off by being denied the opportunity to experience firsthand the era that I was so obviously meant to inhabit. During my high school and college years, while my peers were mostly into faceless corporate rock (think Journey, Foreigner, Kansas, Boston, etc.) and, perhaps worse yet, the twin horrors of New Wave and Disco music, I was faithfully spinning my Hendrix, Joplin and Doors albums (which I still have, or rather my eldest daughter still has, in the original vinyl versions) while my color organ (remember those?) competed with my black light and strobe light. I grew my hair long until well past the age when it should have been sheared off. I may have even strung beads across the doorway to my room, but it is possible that I am confusing my life with that of Greg Brady, who, as we all remember, once converted his dad’s home office into a groovy bachelor pad. Anyway ... as I have probably mentioned previously on more than one occasion, one of the most difficult aspects of this journey that I have been on for the last decade or so has been watching so many of my former idols and mentors fall by the wayside as it became increasingly clear to me that people who I once thought were the good guys were, in reality, something entirely different than what they appear to be. The first to fall, naturally enough, were the establishment figures - the politicians who I once, quite foolishly, looked up to as people who were fighting the good fight, within the confines of the system, to bring about real change. Though it now pains me to admit this, there was a time when I admired the likes of (egads!) George McGovern and Jimmy Carter, as well as (oops, excuse me for a moment; I seem to have just thrown up in my mouth a little bit) California pols Tom Hayden and Jerry Brown. I even had high hopes, oh-so-many-years-ago, for (am I really admitting this in print?) aspiring First Man Bill Clinton. Since I mentioned Jerry “Governor Moonbeam” Brown, by the way, I must now digress just a bit - and we all know how I hate it when that happens. But as luck would have it, Jerry Brown was, curiously enough, a longtime resident of a little place called Laurel Canyon. As readers of Programmed to Kill may recall, Brown lived on WonContinued next page

derland Avenue, not too many doors down from 8763 Wonderland Avenue, the site of the infamous “Four on the Floor” murders, regarded by grizzled LA homicide detectives as the most bloody and brutal multiple murder in the city’s very bloody history (if you get a chance, by the way, check out “Wonderland” with Val Kilmer the next time it shows up on your cable listings; it is, by Hollywood standards, a reasonably accurate retelling of the crime, and a pretty decent film as well). As it turns out, you see, the most bloody mass murder in LA’s history took place in one of the city’s most serene, pas-

Val Kilmer in Wonderland toral and exclusive neighborhoods. And strangely enough, the case usually cited as the runner-up for the title of bloodiest crime scene - the murders of Stephen Parent, Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frykowski and Abigail Folger at 10050 Cielo Drive in Benedict Canyon, just a couple miles to the west of Laurel Canyon - had deep ties to the Laurel Canyon scene as well. As previously mentioned, victims Folger and Frykowski lived in Laurel Canyon, at 2774 Woodstock Road, in a rented home right across the road from a favored gathering spot for Laurel Canyon royalty. Many of the regular visitors to Cass Elliot’s home, including a number of shady drug dealers,

were also regular visitors to the Folger/ Frykowski home (Frykowski’s son, by the way, was stabbed to death on June 6, 1999, thirty years after his father met the same fate.) Victim Jay Sebring’s acclaimed hair salon sat right at the mouth of Laurel Canyon, just below the Sunset Strip, and it was Sebring, alas, who was credited with sculpting Jim Morrison’s famous mane. One of the investors in his Sebring International business venture was a Laurel Canyon luminary who I may have mentioned previously, Mr. John Phillips. Sharon Tate was also well known in Laurel Canyon, where she was a frequent visitor to the homes of friends like John Phillips, Cass Elliott, and Abby Folger. And when she wasn’t in Laurel Canyon, many

Dyke Parks, for example, dropped by for a visit on the very day of the murders. And Denny Doherty, the other “Papa” in The Mamas and the Papas, has claimed that he and John Phillips were invited to the Cielo Drive home on the night of the murders, but, as luck would have it, they never made it over. (Similarly, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, a regular visitor to the Wonderland death house, had set up a drug buy on the night of that mass murder, but he fell asleep and never made it over.) Along with the victims, the alleged killers also lived in and/or were very much a part of the Laurel Canyon scene. Bobby “Cupid” Beausoleil, for example, lived in a Laurel Canyon apartment during the early months of 1969. Charles “Tex” Watson, who allegedly led the death squad responsible for the carnage at Cielo Drive, lived for a time in a home on - guess where? - Wonderland Avenue. During that time, curiously enough, Watson co-owned and worked in a wig shop in Beverly Hills, Crown Wig Creations, Ltd., that was located near the mouth of Benedict Canyon. Meanwhile, one of Jay Sebring’s primary claims-to-fame was his expertise in crafting men’s hairpieces, which he did in his shop near the mouth of Laurel Canyon. A typical day then in the late 1960s would find Watson crafting hairpieces for an upscale Hollywood clientele near Benedict Canyon, and then returning home to Laurel Canyon, while Sebring crafted hairpieces for an upscale Hollywood clientele near Laurel Canyon, and then returned home to Benedict Canyon. And then one crazy

day, as we all know, one of them became a killer and the other his victim. But there’s nothing odd about that, I suppose, so let’s move on. Oh, wait a minute ... we can’t quite move on just yet, as I forgot to mention that Sebring’s Benedict Canyon home, at 9820 Easton Drive, was a rather infamous Hollywood death house that had once belonged to Jean Harlow and Paul Bern. The mismatched pair were wed on July 2, 1932, when Harlow, already a huge star of the silver screen, was just twenty-one years old. Just two months later, on September 5, Bern caught a bullet to the head in his wife’s bedroom. He was found sprawled naked in a pool of his own blood, his corpse drenched with his wife’s perfume. Upon discovering the body, Bern’s butler

promptly contacted MGM’s head of security, Whitey Hendry, who in turn contacted Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg. All three men descended upon the Benedict Canyon home to, you know, tidy up a bit. A couple hours later, they decided to contact the LAPD. This scene would be repeated years later when Sebring’s friends would rush to the home to clean up before officers investigating the Tate murders arrived. Bern’s death was, needless to say, written off as a suicide. His newlywed wife, strangely enough, was never called as a witness at the inquest. Bern’s other wife - which is to say, his common-law wife, Dorothy Millette - reportedly boarded a Sacramento riverboat on September 6, 1932, the day after Paul’s death. She was next seen floating belly-up in the Sacramento River. Her death, as would be expected, was also ruled a suicide. Less than five years later, Harlow herself dropped dead at the ripe old age of 26. At the time, authorities opted not to divulge the cause of death, though it was later claimed that bad kidneys had done her in. During her brief stay on this planet, Harlow had cycled through three turbulent marriages and yet still found time to serve as Godmother to Bugsy Siegel’s daughter, Millicent. Though Bern’s was the most famous body to be hauled out of the Easton Drive house in a coroner’s bag, it certainly wasn’t the only one. Another man had reportedly committed suicide there as well, in some unspecified fashion. Yet another unfortunate soul drowned in the home’s pool. And a maid was once found swinging from the end of a rope. Her death, needless to say, was ruled a suicide as well. That’s a lot of blood for one home to absorb, but the house’s morbid history, though a turn-off to many prospective residents, was reportedly exactly what attracted Jay Sebring to the property. His murder would further darken the black cloud hanging over the home. As Laurel Canyon chronicler Michael Walker has noted, LA’s two most notorious

9820 Easton Drive

mass murders, one in August of 1969 and the other in July of 1981 (both involving five victims, though at Wonderland one of the five miraculously survived), provided rather morbid bookends for Laurel Canyon’s glory years. Walker though, like others who have chronicled that time and place, treats these brutal crimes as though they were unfortunate aberrations. The reality, however, is that the nine bodies recovered from Cielo Drive and Wonderland Avenue constitute just the tip of a very large, and very bloody, iceberg. To partially illustrate that point, here is today’s second trivia question: what do Diane Linkletter (daughter of famed entertainer Art Linkletter), legendary comedian Lenny Bruce, screen idol Sal Mineo, starlet Inger Stevens, and silent film star Ramon Novarro, all have in common? If you answered that all were found dead in their homes, either in or at the mouth of Laurel Canyon, in the decade between 1966 and 1976, then award yourself five points. If you added that all five were, in all likelihood, murdered in their Laurel Canyon homes, then add five bonus points. Only two of them, of course, are officially listed as murder victims (Mineo, who was stabbed to death outside his home at 8563 Holloway Drive on February 12, 1976, and Novarro, who was killed near

the Country Store in a decidedly ritualistic fashion on the eve of Halloween, 1968). Inger Steven’s death in her home at 8000 Woodrow Wilson Drive, on April 30, 1970 (Walpurgisnacht on the occult calendar), was officially a suicide, though why she opted to propel herself through a decorative glass screen as part of that suicide remains a mystery. Perhaps she just wanted to leave behind a gruesome crime scene, and simple overdoses can be so, you know, bloodless and boring. Diane Linkletter, as we all know, sailed out the window of her Shoreham Towers apartment because, in her LSD-addled state, she thought she could fly, or some such thing. We know this because Art himself told us that it was so, and because the story was retold throughout the 1970s as a cautionary tale about the dangers of drugs. What we weren’t told, however, is that Diane (born, curiously enough, on Halloween day, 1948) wasn’t alone when she plunged six stories to her death on the morning of October 4, 1969. Au contraire, she was with a gent by the name of Edward Durston, who, in a completely unexpected turn of events, accompanied actress Carol Wayne to Mexico some 15 years later. Carol, alas, perhaps weighed down by her enormous breasts, managed to drown in barely a foot of water, while Mr. Durston promptly disappeared. As would be expected, he was never questioned by authorities about Wayne’s curious death. After all, it is quite common for the same guy to be the sole witness to two separate ‘accidental’ deaths. Art also neglected to mention, by the way, that just weeks before Diane’s curious death, another member of the Linkletter clan, Art’s son-in-law, John Zwyer, caught a bullet to the head in the backyard of his Hollywood Hills home. But that, of course, was an unconnected, uhmm, suicide, so don’t go thinking otherwise. I’m not even going to discuss here the circumstances of Bruce’s death from acute morphine poisoning on August 3, 1966, because, to be perfectly honest, I don’t know too many people who don’t already assume that Lenny was whacked. I’ll just note here that his funeral was well-attended by the Laurel Canyon rock icons, and control over his unreleased material fell into the hands of a guy by the name of Frank Zappa. And another rather unsavory character named Phil Spector, whose crack team of studio musicians, dubbed The Wrecking Crew, were the actual musicians playing on many studio recordings by such bands as The Monkees, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, and The Mamas and the Papas. To Be Continued ... [As for the trivia question, the person being praised, of course, was our old friend Chuck Manson. And the guy singing his praises was Mr. Neil Young.]

28 world June/July 2010 How Many Vaccines (At One Time) Are Too Many? By Dr Sherri Tenpenny www.drtenpenny.com

www.osteomed2.com

Of course, I think that any vaccine is one vaccine too many. But in his 2002 article published in the journal, Pediatrics, Dr. Paul Offit, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Director Vaccine Education at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, used a mathematical formula to demonstrate that children can be simultaneously vaccinated with thousands of vaccines without harm. “Each infant would have the theoretical capacity to respond to about 10,000 vaccines at any one time.” Dr. Offit should go back to school and review human immunology. The idea that 10,000 doses of chemicals, heavy metals, bits of viruses and cells of bacteria could uneventfully be deposited into the blood stream of an infant, young child or even an adult without consequence defies medical logic. The direct injection of pathogens into the body bypasses the first four lines of immune defense: the skin, mucous membranes, intestinal tract and lymphatics. Unlike the claims of safety by the pharmaceutical companies and the government, introducing germs and chemicals into the blood stream does not “trick” the immune system into protecting us from a disease. Vaccines contaminate it. In fact, children are contaminated with up to 69 doses of 16 vaccines by the time they are 18 years of age. That breaks down to a nearly 156 separate vaccine antigens –and over 35 shots. Each shot contains measurable amounts of formaldehyde, aluminum, calf serum, gelatin and other chemical aliquots injected with each vaccine. Not exactly a slurry most would want injected into their children. The potential for disaster looms as a mixture of live and attenuated (killed) viruses are injected on the same day. A study document-

ing these very real hazards was published in 1986 in Science Magazine, sounding an alarm more than twenty years ago. The study consisted of injecting two different avirulent (benign) herpes viruses, Virus A and Virus B into the footpads of mice. If a mouse received 100 particles of either Virus A or Virus B, none of the mice died. However, if a mouse received only one particle of both Virus A and Virus B, 62 percent of the mice died. In addition, eleven newly created viruses, called recombinants, viruses were isolated from the dead mice. When these new viruses were injected into the next set of mice, three of these newly created viruses were found to be deadly. This study demonstrates that the simultaneous injection of two benign viruses can recombine with

deadly results.1 Offit claims that 10,000 vaccines could be injected simultaneously without consequence. If only two different viruses can lead to death in mice, what would be potential result of injecting thousands? Children are routinely injected with four viruses are the same time when vaccinated with the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella) and the chickenpox vaccine) on the same day. Clearly the risk for complications is more than a theoretical possibility. Offit’s study was espoused to be “ground breaking” and drew substantial media attention when it was released. His intent was – and remains – to allay the fears of parents who were questioning vaccines and chal-

lenging the need to inject so many vaccines at the same time. This is the same Dr. Paul Offit, vaccine entrepreneur and public health spokesperson, who earned approximately $10 million in income from Rotateq® royalties through 2009 and stands to earn a total of between $13-35 million over the life of his rotavirus vaccine patents. His vaccine is the one found to contain porcine circoviruses, known to cause a wasting illness in baby pigs. The FDA ruled to keep Offit’s Rotateq vaccine on the market despite being contaminated with two pig viruses known to cause fatal wasting disease. Go figure. According to a May 11, 2010 post on AgeofAutism.com, few countries require a rotavirus vaccine for their children. Of 30 first world countries, only three—USA, Canada, and Austria—recommend the Rotavirus vaccine. “If the FDA is so sure the “benefits outweigh the risks” of keeping Offit’s vaccine in circulation, why have 27 first world countries like the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway never even bothered to add a rotavirus shot to their immunization schedules?” Regulators seem to believe that a little vaccine is good, but a lot increases sales. And Rotateq totaled $522 million in 2009, a boom to the Merck’s bottom line. Using a mathematical formula to insist that infants have a large capacity to be repositories for a pharmaceutical product will not eliminate doubts of safety, efficacy and necessity by investigative parents. “Thinking doctors” should recognize this study for what it is: an opportunity to push more vaccines. However, a “thinking parent” might conclude, “If the immune system is that strong, why do we need to vaccinate at all?”

EU banned heated family houses built from 2020 http://motls.blogspot.com/

The European Union has adopted a regulation that will ban the construction of ordinary family houses, starting from 2020. Only the so-called passive houses will be allowed. For example, page 33/71 of the PDF document above says that all new buildings have to be “nearly zero-energy buildings” by the end of 2020. It has to be true by the end of 2018 for all new buildings occupied by public authorities.

At this moment, there only exist 15,000 of passive houses in the world, mostly in Germany, Austria, and Scandinavia. But they should suddenly become a majority. The construction of such an “passive house” is 10-15 percent more expensive than the construction of a “proper house”. So what would you expect before 2020?

price that the buyers will be ready to pay will increase, too. However, don’t expect that the existing owners will be completely protected against the new insane policies. Evidence mounts on links between cell phones and brain tumors by David Gutierrez

(NaturalNews) A growing body of evidence, dating back to the 1960s, suggests that brain tumors may be only one of the many health problems produced by our new wireless society will produce. Cell-phone technology “could lead to a health crisis similar to those caused by asbestos, smoking, and lead in petrol,” warned the European Union’s environmental watchdog agency in 2007. The most ambitious attempt to catalogue the health risks of cell phones to date is the industry-funded Interphone study, carried out by researchers from 13 different countries (not including the United States). Although the study has been criti-

cized for selecting data in a way designed to play down the risks of cell phone use, it continues to turn up alarming findings nonetheless. Among the findings so far are a 40 percent increase in brain tumor risk among adults who use a cell phone for 10 years (especially on the side of the head where the phone is held); a 300 percent increased risk of acoustic nerve tumors; and an increased risk of tumors of the parotid gland. The risk of a brain tumor increases by 400 percent in people who start using a cell phone before the age of 20. Other studies, mostly out of Europe, have linked mobile phone and personal digital assistant (PDA) use to DNA damage, sperm death, and brain damage including early-onset dementia. These findings regularly make big news in the international press, but are by and large played down in U.S. media. The United States has a long history of hostility toward the claim that the microwave radiation used by microwave ovens, cell phones, cell phone towers and wireless internet (Wi-Fi) can be harmful to human health. U.S. law prohibits challenging the placement of cell phone towers on health grounds, and an industry group (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is highly influential in setting exposure standards. The first research on the risks of microwave radiation was actually uncovered by a U.S. researcher, Allan Frey, in the 1960s. Frey discovered that “nonionizing” electromagnetic radiation -- previously thought to be harmless -- could still produce biological effects. For example, radar waves can pro-

Moving Pictures by Naomi Wolf Naomi Wolf is a political activist and social critic whose most recent book is Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries. CANNES – This year’s Cannes Film Festival was marked by a profound contrast between what unfolded along La Croisette, the palm-lined sweep of pedestrian walkway that stretches between swathes of luxury hotels and the azure Mediterranean, and the films debuting onscreen. Outside all was glitter, excess, posturing, and brand names. Young women in fiveinch heels and revealing clothing prowled for wealthy men – or were imported by them to decorate boats and premiere parties. Every night, the parade of stars up the red carpet, flanked by photographers, played out like a relic of a more ritualistic time. Inside the Palais, the hulking brutalist structure where the films are screened, this year’s lineup was filled with tales of ordinary people, or poor people, struggling with the fallout of the global issues that increasingly unite us – or confronting painful political conflicts that official histories had laid to rest. If in the past Cannes showcased films telling a hundred different kinds of stories, this year’s offerings made clear that in an increasingly flattened and wired world, there is really only one story – with a hundred different inflections. Thai cinema’s gifted young director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s film, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, won the Palme d’Or. It is a Spanish-German-French-British-Thai coproduction, the kind of international collaborative effort we are increasingly seeing in film – a form of cross-border collaboration that should point the way to other

forms of global civil-society projects. The film, whose production was slowed by the “red shirt” revolt in Thailand, deals in part with themes of past violence. At one point, the project – which is also part of a massive art installation – refers to the history of a village: local teenagers recount that, “Soldiers once occupied this place. They killed and tortured villagers and forced them to flee to the jungle.” Poetry, by South Korean director Lee Chang-Dong, also deals with a family reconciling themselves through pain to a prior conflict. It tells the story of an elderly woman who is forced to face her past as a torturer. Other films address a conflict that is closer to home here in France. Outside the Law, directed by Rachid Bouchareb, narrates the story of the massacre at Setif, Algeria, in May 1945. The film tracks the events surrounding three Algerian brothers over a 35-year period, and brings to light aspects of the massacre that had been considered taboo in France. Strikingly, Outside the Law is a Franco-Algerian production, and it has already caused political controversy: it was denounced by Lionnel Luca, a French deputy who is, as one French periodical put it, “nostalgic for a French Algeria.” The film actually sparked a noisy protest along La Croisette, with French veterans defensively and aggressively singing “La Marseillaise,” even as couples dressed in black tie and gowns swept in a parallel path to the evening’s festivities.

duce “sound” even in the absence of actual sound waves by interfering with the brain’s own electromagnetic signals. Frey found that microwaves could damage the organs of lab animals, even stopping their hearts completely. Yet when Frey published a paper showing that microwave radiation could disrupt the functioning of the blood-brain barrier, the Office of Naval Research ordered him to conceal the work or lose funding. Pentagonfunded scientists claimed they had refuted his work, but refused to share any information on their data or methods. Frey found that while the primary (or “carrier”) wave of microwave radiation can cause health problems, the secondary wave that carries the actual data -- whether sound, text, pictures or other information transmitted via cell phones or Wi-Fi connections -- is far more dangerous. The more data streams carried, the higher the danger. Modern research supports these early findings, with 75 percent of indepenIn response, the mayor of Cannes organized a ceremony to commemorate all victims of the French-Algerian conflict. Still another film reawakens not-sodistant American history and casts it in a radically altered light: Doug Liman’s Fair Game reinterprets the Valerie Plame/ Joe Wilson scandal of 2003, and reveals that Plame was far from being a glorified secretary, as the Bush administration had portrayed her. On the contrary, she led a team that intercepted components of nuclear weapons at their source, whisked them away to the United States, altered them slightly so that they would not work, and replaced them. So the Bush administration’s leak of her identity ended not just her career, but also a sensitive program that had kept us all safe. Other films simply tell stories of people who are not usually portrayed by film. Los Labios, an Argentine project directed by Santiago Loza and Ivan Fund, simply follows three government-funded nurses who go to a rural area to serve the needs of the impoverished local population. It humbly tracks their accounting of cases of malnourishment, alcoholism, diseases of poverty, and the ravages of unemployment and inadequate medical care. Similarly, Sergei Loznitsa’s My Joy simply explores the life of a Ukrainian truck driver named Georgy, who gets lost and finds himself in an archetypal Russian village, where he is drawn into daily life. This is a real cinema of humility – the directors again and again have chosen to take seriously the dramas and struggles of ordinary people and find the heroism or tragedy therein. What does it all mean? The many movies that critically revise settled national narratives suggest that people are no longer willing to accept history that has been crafted by elites for their own purposes. In most cases, the directors researched their own films by interviewing

dently funded studies showing health risks from cell phone radiation (in contrast with only 25 percent of industry funded studies). Researchers have also documented dramatic rises in the rate of numerous health problems immediately following the introduction of widespread Wi-Fi and cell phone networks across Europe. Such concerns have led European governments to consider banning Wi-Fi in government facilities, and to the Austrian Medical Association’s call for a ban on Wi-Fi in schools. The national library of France has already removed all Wi-Fi connections due to health concerns. In certain segments of the U.S. population, awareness is also growing. According to an anonymous investment banker speaking to a GQ reporter, rates of brain tumors among financial executives are shockingly high, a fact more and more people are attributing to constant cell phone use. “I knew four or five people just at my firm who got tumors,” the banker said. “Each time, people ask the question. I hear it in the hallways.”

sources who were close to the action, or close to the main events at a grassroots level. That is an exciting development, though initially it implies a messier historical narrative. In Bouchareb’s film, for example, there is not a unified story of the occupation of Algeria, but many points of view that a young French teenager (or French-Algerian teenager) can witness and draw from. That is surely good, especially in an open society. So is the focus of other films on the struggles of ordinary people. To be sure, simply championing populism for its own sake – a Stalinist or New Left reflex – makes for bad art. But the flattening of the world has led to a flattening of the kinds of people who can be seen as heroes or seekers. By bringing these subjects into focus, great film directors have gained a larger and more representative world of stories from which to work their magic. BP Commands Government to Strangle Off Media Coverage of Oil Gusher Kurt Nimmo reports for Infowars.com: On Saturday, the Associated Press reported that the government is strangling off access to areas of the Gulf of Mexico impacted by what is now admitted to be the worst oil spill in U.S. history. “The Associated Press, CBS and others have reported coverage problems because of the restrictions, which officials say are needed to protect wildlife and ensure safe air traffic,” the AP reported. “A CBS news story said one of its reporting teams was threatened with arrest by the Coast Guard and turned back from an oiled beach at the mouth of the Mississippi River.” Officials said the denial of access was under “BP rules.” BP and other leviathan transnational corporations own Congress and the White House. Obama’s apparent disinterest in the oil gusher until very recently is not because he does not believe the situation merits attention. The federal government has done little beyond engage in public relations management because transnational corporations and bankers rule (and own) the political process. BP continues to insist it is in control of the situation and the government continues to defer. BP does not want the media poking around and reporting the severity of the disaster to the American people.

Summer Streets Of Rage Predicted For Europe & U.S Paul Watson reported for Infowars.com:

Britain will also be a flash point for riots due to the new government pushing through the most severe budget cuts since world war two. Indeed, authorities are already preparing for the fallout if Britain begins to go the way of Greece, with the chairman of the Police Federation recently warning that the country is heading for scenes last witnessed during the economic and social turmoil of the late 1970’s. “I have real fears we might go back to something like that … history tells us it happens again and again,” Paul McKeever told the federation’s annual conference in Bournemouth, adding that “distress on the streets” was a distinct possibility this summer. As Chris Marsden outlines in his article, several other prominent voices in the media are also forecasting that tensions could boil over into the streets, particularly if the euro region disintegrates as a result of the collapse of the single currency. A Deutsche Welle piece on May 26 cautioned that social unrest was “closer today than at any other time since this current financial crisis—the worst since 1929—began.” The report cites US director of national intelligence, Dennis C. Blair, who said that the riots could lead to “regime-threatening instability,” from which “the United States would not be immune.” The report also names Portugal, Spain and Italy as being under threat from social discontent, and even goes so far as to claim that the unrest will end in war, quoting Marie-Hélène Caillol, the president of the European Laboratory of Political Anticipation think-tank. Although analysts say that such discontent would be an organic reaction of the people in response to enforced financial hardship, unemployment and reduced living standards, one has to wonder whether the globalists who engineered the economic crisis are not lying in wait with their preordained solution of world government once the situation gets really bad. There also exists the possibility that the crisis is now so deep that it is even out of their control, which means that no one can now predict the ultimate outcome of the mass social unrest set to hit the streets this summer.

Although many predicted that last summer would be a period of social unrest, British historian Simon Schama notes that there is usually a lag between economic hardship and the subsequent social fury it engenders. “Far be it for me to make a dicey situation dicier but you can’t smell the sulphur in the air right now and not think we might be on the threshold of an age of rage,” wrote Schama in his Financial Times column. Schama forecasts that not just Europe but America too faces “a distinct possibility of a long hot summer of social umbrage,” making comparisons to how rich plutocrats bore the brunt of the common man’s rage during the French Revolution. A Reuters report echoes similar fears, noting that the level of violence will take a backseat to the amount of coverage it receives on television, and that this will dictate how badly the turmoil affects markets. “Insurers say they have seen a notable uptick in enquiries about political risk cover — which protects against expropriation, political violence and exchange controls — particularly for Portugal and Spain as they face stringent cuts,” states the report, adding that

COMING SOON: Unmanned Aircraft All Over U.S. Skies Greg Ericson reported for FreePressInternational.com: “The Federal Aviation Administration has been asked to issue flying rights for pilotless planes of all sizes. They range in size from an airliner to a bee, believe it or not.” “There are two types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s): Drones, which are automated planes pre-programmed to fly and UAV’s that are remotely controlled by someone on the ground.” “Some of the uses include Tornado research, monitoring pipelines, and search and rescue.” “State police hope to send them up to capture images of speeding cars’ license plates and tracking fleeing suspects. This is where UAV’s could be easily abused by government.” “Another concern is lost communication between unmanned aircraft and the operators who remotely control them.” “Planes entering low flying areas are not required to have warning systems or transponders. It’s done visually” “UAV’s are already being used for border patrol and can fly for 20 hours without refueling. Which begs the question, Why do we need a fence if we have UAV’s. Something not quite right there?”

Central Bank Hid Housing Market Crash Forecast Paul Joseph Watson of Prison Planet. com reported:

Investment Banker: It’s Going To Get Nasty — “Buy Land, Barbed Wire And Guns” Paul Joseph Watson reported for PrisonPlanet.com: A top investment banker has warned that the economic fallout of the sovereign debt crisis could get so nasty over the next five years that people would be wise to abandon the markets and instead buy land, barbed wire and guns. With gold smashing through its all time record high this morning on the back of fears over a double dip recession, analysts are turning increasingly bearish on the markets. Anthony Fry, senior managing director at Evercore Partners, told CNBC that the bond markets could turn nasty over the next few months and said that the current problems created by the European debt crisis could be with us for at least five years. The massive Foxconn factory in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen is known for assembling famous electronic goods like Apple’s iPhone and iPad. But in recent months it has gained a darker image, as a place where distraught workers regularly throw themselves to their deaths. The latest fatality came on Tuesday morning, when a 19-year-old employee died in a fall in the company’s Shenzhen compound, according to the state-run Xinhua news service. He was the ninth worker this year to have died in a fall from factory buildings on Foxconn’s properties in Shenzhen; two have survived suicide attempts, according to state-media reports. Another teenager, who the company revealed this month died after jumping from a company building in Hebei province in January, brings the total employee death toll from falls to 10 this year.

New revelations concerning how the Irish Central Bank hid data in a 2006 report indicating that a housing market crash was imminent underscores once again how financial elites covered-up signs of the coming economic turmoil in order to exploit the crisis at the expense of the people. Months before the Irish housing market started to crumble in early 2007, which was followed by a wider collapse in the UK property market, the Irish Central Bank buried data from a crucial report which suggested that a 15 per cent fall in house prices was around the corner.

have been underway for several decades. However, the issue of triclosan in antibacterial consumer products has been virtually ignored. [...] The research team has found that over the last 30 years, while levels of all the other dioxins have dropped by 73 to 90 percent, the levels of dioxins derived from the antibacterial soap ingredient triclosan have risen by 200 to 300 percent.” “In addition to the environmental danger that arises from triclosan’s ability to morph into dioxin, the chemical has also been linked to disruptions of hormonal function and may play a role in the evolution of bacterial resistance to antibiotics -- yet the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has done little to address these concerns. In April, the FDA announced it would finally at least study the triclosan situation.”

BP was aware of cracks appearing in the Macondo well as far back as February, right around the time Goldman Sachs and BP Chairman Tony Hayward were busy dumping their stocks in the company on the eve of the explosion that led to the oil spill, according to information uncovered by congressional investigators.

Kurt Nimmo reported for Infowars.com: Iran’s parliament has warned it will respond in kind to inspection of its ships under a fourth round of sanctions imposed on the country by the UN Security Council. A new round of sanctions are being drafted by the United States and the European Union. Sanctions imposed by the United Nations call for the inspection of all ships coming and going from Iran. “We warn the US and certain adventurist countries that if they are tempted to inspect Iranian air and ship cargos, we will take tough action against their ships in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman,” said Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday. Larijani said any retaliatory move would be part of the country’s policy to defend national interests, according to the Fars News Agency.

“Spanish banks are borrowing record amounts from the European Central Bank.” “This is nothing but a sign of a run on Spanish banks. They can’t get funding in the markets and there is a steady withdrawal of funds from the banks. For all practical purposes, the ECB is supporting the Spanish banking system with life support measures. This means that the ECB will have to drain funds from elsewhere in the system to sterilize this rescue operation. Without sterilization the effort becomes very inflationary, with sterilization the effort distorts the entire EU economy. It’s all destabilizing. “
