I have been looking at dierent images about nature and I have decided to gather a few about overgrown places which are literally like jungles. While researching the general term “Jungle” I came across the term “Concrete Jungle” and from that I thought maybe of how a jungle grows and thrives no matter what sort of situation it is put in.

After my previous idea about the atoms I was thinking about what happens when they are split and what sort of outcome is achieved when that happens generally somethin bad. But when they divide and multiplay something amazing normally happens like cell division which will divide and divide and eventually create a living being.

City In Flux: Atoms Collide Idea

I think just the process that happens is amazing and the amount of I think this idea would be very good especially if it is set in a dense ideas and general information I can gather about this one topic is city with long straight roads like New York or paris because of all the vast. The main focus of this idea will be about the atom colliding with really long roads so things can go fast and slow to collide with each another atom and then that becoming a molecule and releasing an- other. other atom like how to parents create a child and then two cells can go together to create a tissue and release a cell sort of thing and so on and so on.

I was looking at certain images of animations moving and I came across a animation of an atom just like the one above and I started thinking just generally about atoms and then I remembered a Simpsons episode that I have watched multiple times where it starts of zooming out of homers head then goes to atoms, to cells, to tissues, two hair, (Pardon the pun) to a house etc. etc. and I want to do a similar thing.

City In Flux: Atoms Research

Flux is movement and no matter what we do we are always moving I want to show this by doing a few different animations or even just even when we are still. Electrons are always spinning, blood is alwaysashort video about it, just showing that everything is in a state of flux pumping and the earth is always spinning! So no matter what we are (Movement) no matter what is happening. doing we are always moving somehow.

This is the main idea that I have come up with, I want to combine the old images with the colours that are used in the new photos and try to bring them to life. If I do use this idea I will be using Photoshop and Illustrator which we are slowly being taught how to use each Thursday. I know how to add the colour now but I could use some other effects to try and mix it up with the images.

I was thinking about creating several posters for the nal product then I do not know how I am going to do this but I am looking forward to I am not thinking too far ahead and then I still have time to do all the learning how to do the idea that I want. I will probably look at some posters I want. I have another idea about putting a slider in the image YouTube tutorials to gure out how to do it because that is the sort of showing the transition between black and white images to the new thing that I like to do in my spare time. image with the colours.

Michael Kelly is a photogrpaher who is based mainly in America and has done a mini project on photography by taking pictures of buildings and sets in the morning and then at night when the lighting on the scene is different and it shows a different side or story that the lighting helps potray.

I want to do the same as this and because he has included a slider I could even show the change with several sliders and each one so you can move it from left to right to see the two different images, slowly shows the evolution of the city over a certain amount of time but I want to do is use a black and white images and then move themand each one shows the next stage of the city building process. left and right and then the image on the right is going to be colored in by myself and then I will use the slider to show the change between the images.

This idea for the project City of Flux is based on how the stars have been mapped out over the past few thousand years, I want to link this into a city showing how someone is moved around a city throughout their life. The idea came to me when I was thinking about dierent quotes that people use and I came across one, which says, “Destiny is written in the stars. So from that I thought well what if I create a 3D model of a city using Cinema 4D to create it.

City In Flux: Star Research

I got the idea from the different star maps that I have gathered from various websites around the internet of different stars being put together to make dierent shapes and then them combined with a model of a city that I can place these star maps above each of the specic buildings to show how someone’s life has been played out in this concrete jungle. I am hoping to use Cinema 4D for the design of the city.

I currently do not know how to use this program but I am hoping to slowly teach myself by watching dierent tutorial series that are on YouTube/vimeo etc. Until we are learning about the programs and processes that I could use on these projects. Hopefully I can create a dense city to use for this project, which will most likely be a dicult job, but I am looking forward to the challenge that it is going to provide.

Futurism started in Italy in the early 20h century and from then it grew I would love to incorporate this into my ideas but I do not think I and slowly evolved to what it is today. Futurism is mainly composed would be able to do it without making the end product to simple and of straight lines arranged in a way to create a that would compromise on the design stages of layered effect. the project. I like Futurism because it is still being used today and even back in the 20th century they was using the straight lines to create beautiful pieces of artwork and adding dierent layers to make it look 3D.

City In Flux: Futurism Research

Futurism was largely based in Italy but along side the other two movements in Britain and Russia it slowly help transform the way alot of the industry saw and designed things in the future, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, industrial design and alot more.

Constructivism was an artistic and architectural movement that start- It was mainly used for political propaganda in lms and posters in I could combine this with an Art Deco posters of Rochdale and turn ed in russia in 1919 just after world war one. Art Deco has been something that I have not really bothered with before and since learning about modernism and the development of art after the rst world war Art Deco has popped up quite a few times. Since then it has slowly been one of the many types of art that I have been looking forward to incorporating into my work.

City In Flux: Art Deco Research

I really like the simplistic colours and shapes that are used in the design of the posters from the Art Deco era, I wouldn’t mind working on the seven sisters of Rochdale and turning them into some sort of iconic poster series and maybe doing the same for other iconic places that have played a role in the development and history of the town.

The idea of a series of Art Deco posters based on Rochdale might be too basic of an idea so maybe if I combine the art deco design with a bit of animation, quite alot of the posters make use of spotlights in the background maybe I could animate them turning each of them from a poster into a small stop motion animation with just a few frames and then loop it to create a small gif.

This is some futurism artwork that I designed by looking at images from the internet.... I found the basic light shapes very interesting and then I wanted to do my own so I decided to go back onto youtube and learn how to do it myself which in the end I did and I managed to create these two different ones based on the light boxes around the seven sisters.

Most of the fonts for art deco posters and similar posters from that time have the type layout all over the place and do not have a certain place that the text will be every time. From what I can tell the placement of the text depends on the placement on the image and then the text is placed in a corresponding area on the poster that is not stopping someone from seeing the image that is the main thing for the poster.

I am going to place the type on my posters in certain areas depending on where the main attention point of the poster is then I can put it in the opposite spot to make sure it doesn’t obscure anything on the image and to make sure the text is not stopping someone from seeing the poster and to make sure it doesn’t interfere with the message that is going to be sent by the posters when they are placed around Rochdale.

City In Flux: Type Layout Research

These are a few different Art Deco or font from a similar time to when The only one that I am definetly not going to use is the bottom left it was around. I am currently looking towards using the very top left one because it is more of a retro American diner font or something one but I am going to ask a few people and see which one of these and I do not want to create a poster using a font like that unless the fonts would look the best to be placed onto a promotional poster. buildings that are in it are based around an Retro-American design.

City In Flux: Type Experimentation

Once I get some consumer research on these fonts I will make my decision on which one/s I am going to use and then further experiment with them to see what sort of thing I can come up with in the end.

There isn’t any I don’t really like I just prefer the ones that I have statThese are some of the typography designs that I am going to use on I kinda am favoured towards the one at the top left with the lights inside it and the outline so it is easy to read and then it also incorpoed above and the only one that might have a problem with the color my posters depending on what colors are used on the poster im gobut other than that it should be fine. ing to change them and maybe invert the type or I could even make rates the lights that are going to be used in each of my posters. the type out of the lights that I am going to be putting into the image to highlight some of the areas like I have done at the top right but I will have to be careful due to the color and make sure it stands out enough for people to see it and being easy to read.

City In Flux: Type Final

This is the final Type design that I am going to be using on all of my It also has an Art Deco look to it but also a Retrofuturism look as well I am going to create posters of the buildings that were created in posters that I am creating around Art Deco and Rochdale. Each one which will be really good on my posters if I do decide to go through the 20th century in an Art Deco style and then if I have the time I am of these titles can be changed color to match what ever background Iwith the modern poster Idea. going to take pictures of where these buildings used to be or where need to put it on. they are now and create modern posters that would be used to promote them in this time.

City In Flux: Type Final

These are some texts layouts that I’ve tried and as you can see some All of them but the bottom right one could work if I tweaked the text I think I might look at some more types of these posters and see of them work and some of them completely don’t, Most of them a bit more on each image to make it stand out more and with a little what other possible buildings or objects that I can base on my next just do not fit into the part of the image because of the colours that bit of magic I could place the text inside the tram maybe going into set of posters. are used in the bacground and some just don’t really fit into the slot the background of the image to try and make the incorporate the text because of the the center of attention on the iamges like the tram into the image a bit better and make it look a bit more streamlined and the tram station and some of the text placements just completely like Art Deco tries to do. blocks the main point of the image and it would not look very good if it was used like the one at the bottom left...

City In Flux: Type Properties

I think the font that I have chosen suits my posters since they are both based around an art deco theme and they will go well together and I really do like the effect that I have put onto the type to make it look like there is spotlights going over the text lighting it up like there is on my posters that I am going to create.

Once I had the image I went into Illustrator and started drawing basic Then it was time to add the background with the gradient tool and I recently created this Art Deco poster and I thought it would be a lines around the edges of the buildings but to make it so I could then I also added a rectangle to the bottom to hide the lower part good idea to take screenshots throughout the process of it being colour each of them individually I had to make sure they were all their of the building because I didn’t like how it looked. Then I added the designed so other people can see the stages I went in to create something like this. The First stage of the design process which I had own shape. Once I had the basic outline of the image done I had to lights with the pen tool and then set them to overlay and I had to reto do was go and get an image of a known building that is situated start adding colours making them darker on the sides where the sun duce the opacity because they was making it unrealistic bright. Once couldn’t light up to give it a 3D Art Deco effect as I have done in the I had that done I took the image into photoshop and added a Film in Rochdale, I have already done most of the well known ones so I Grain and Poster Edges effect to create the Old paper look and then had to do a bit of digging to find out that this is one of the most well screenshots. took it back into Illustrator and added the text back onto the image known religious buildings in Rochdale so I decided to do this. and thats how I reached the final design on this particular image.

City In Flux: Step By Step Experimental

This is my final poster design for the City In Flux project I have shown I had to do a simple line drawing of shapes round every single part So thought since it had links with Britain and our involvement in the the stages that I took to create it because I thought it would be good of the image that I wanted to be in a different colour since I was usingwar I thought it would be a good idea to attempt to use colours from as evidence to be used in my final overall project file so as usual I illustrator to stop it from going pixelated incase I needed to blow it up the British flag and then I thought why not make it look like the actual went and got a picture of the Memorial Gardens in Rochdale which or even make it smaller for any reason in the future. Once I had the flag itself, so I did. At first I didn’t think it would work but eventually was built in rememberance of the soldiers that participated in the basic outline done and the shapes in the middle it was time to start after a bit of experimentation and hoping that it would look good in two World Wars which were from the North-West of England and the adding a bit of colour my plan was to just make it different shades of the end and even if it didn’t I could use it as evidence to say why I Rochdale area. grey but in the end that was a bit to simple and boring. didn’t do something like this so it would of worked out in my favour either way. But in the end I think it looks quite good since it all links together and the Art Deco style.

City In Flux: Final Development

Memorial Gardens Rochdale

I feel like my selection of posters that I have created answers the brief because I am combining the art style of the time that they were built with how they look now and you can hardly tell the difference and this shows that most buildings are not in flux with the city unless they are knocked down and rebuilt, so once a building is finished it will not be in a state of flux untill it gets knocked down again and something is rebuilt in its place.
