Meaning Of Earth:

Meaning Of Artifact:

Meaning Of Earth Artifacts:

• Earth is in the Milky Way galaxy in its small corner in the Sol systemwhich is also inhabited by several other planets but Earth is the only one which is able to support the Human species aswell for thousands of others.

• An artifact is a object or an item from the past it could be damaged over the years it had been hidden or it could be perfectly preserved.

• A Earth Artifact is only classed as a “Earth” Artifact if it is produced or created by the Human race, such as tools, ruins of buildings and pottery as what has been mainly found in our time

• There are many different versions of artifacts: > Tools, Digital Artifacts and Technological ones

• Fossils for example are not Earth Artifacts, although they are found on Earth it does not make them a Earth Artifact since they were not created by Humans they are literally remains of animals and creatures of a wide range of species from the past several million years of Earth’s lifetime.

• The majority of the surface of the Earth is covered by an ocean of water (H2O) and several huge continents covering the rest. • The Earth is billions of years old and has gone through several ages where other creatures have inhabited the Earth and over time the huge landmass which was once one known as Pangaea which has now split up into the seven continents that we know today.

Earth Artifact

• Artifacts are from history or the past from Ancient Empires which ruins of their cities and culture that have been forgotten and the Earth has swallowed their civilization whole and we have to literally go digging to find out about the forgotten empires.

Mission Objective:

Mission Characteristics:

Current Trajectory:

The mission objective of the Voyager Interstellar Mission (VIM) is to extend the NASA exploration of the solar system beyond the neighborhood of the outer planets to the outer limits of the Sun’s sphere of influence, and possibly beyond. This extended mission is continuing to characterize the outer solar system environment and search for the heliopause boundary, the outer limits of the Sun’s magnetic field and outward flow of the solar wind.

The VIM is an extension of the Voyager primary mission that was completed in 1989 with the close flyby of Neptune by the Voyager 2 spacecraft. Neptune was the final outer planet visited by a Voyager spacecraft. Voyager 1 completed its planned close flybys of the Jupiter and Saturn planetary systems while Voyager 2, in addition to its own close flybys of Jupiter and Saturn, completed close flybys of the remaining two gas giants, Uranus and Neptune.

Voyager 1 is escaping the solar system at a speed of about 3.6 AU per year, 35 degrees out of the ecliptic plane to the north, in the general direction of the Solar Apex (the direction of the Sun’s motion relative to nearby stars). Voyager 2 is also escaping the solar system at a speed of about 3.3 AU per year, 48 degrees out of the ecliptic plane to the south.

Early Probe Achievements:

Golden Record Creator Carl Sagan:

Carl Sagan Quote Continued:

In 1990 thirteen years after the launch an image was sent back from the probe of the earth as it hit a milestone and became the furthest man made object from earth and on the image the Earth appeared as a little blue dot.

Carl Sagan said “Consider again that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward. - Continued in next box.

every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam”.

Voyager Original Purpose:

Voyager Probe Primary Mission:

Voyager Probe Physical Properties

The original mission of the Voyager probes were to be deep oceanic probes to find out more about the oceans but then the plan was changed since the probes design would be better suited for them to be turned into deep space probes which then had the program changed from mariner to the “Voyager missions.

The Voyager probes primary missions completed with voyager 2 on a close fly by of Neptune, the actual Voyager Interstellar Mission is actually an extension of the original mission since 2003 they have both been deactivated to preserve power since they are both running adrift in space flying at high speed after their slingsshot flightpaths that took them aruond a planet to gain speed before they ran out of power.

Golden Record:

Golden Record Success Chances:

Golden Record Purpose:

The Golden Record is a vinyl disk that has all the information on it about the human race and what they have done including messages and especially images and sounds of things from Earth and of human creation which have been put onto the Golden Disk and put onto the Voyager probes for other civilizations to find.

These have been sent out to the galaxy but since there is only two of them the chances of these images, sound and information being found and being put to good use is very slight and even the chances of it being found before the signal from the probe has been depleted is even smaller.

All the information on the disks could eventually be used against the human race if another race has hostile intentions considering the amount of information that is on the two disks and they could then use that to invade or become friends with because thats what the disk is made for and it is made with the good will of all humans on earth in hope for peace and being able to learn from each others cultures.

Golden Record Contents:

The Voyager Golden Records are phonograph records which were included aboard both Voyager spacecraft, which were launched in 1977. They contain sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them. - See more at: http://webodysseum.com/art/116-images-of-the-voyager-golden-record/#sthash.Fge1FEB0.dpuf

As the probes are extremely small compared to the vastness of interstellar space, the probability of a space-faring civilization encountering them is very small, especially since the probes will eventually stop emitting any kind of electromagnetic radiation. If they are ever found by an alien species, it will most likely be far in the future as the nearest star on Voyager 1′s trajectory will only be reached in 40,000 years. - See more at: http://webodysseum.com/art/116-images-of-the-voyager-golden-record/#sthash.Fge1FEB0.dpuf

Earth’s Location:

What is Earth:

Earth’s History:

Earth, also known as Gaia or Terra is a planet in the Sol system of the Milky way galaxy in the gigantic universe we inhabit, the Sol system which it calls home is also shared with Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune and Pluto which has recently been reduced to a planetoid instead of a planet because of its size.

it is also home to a star or the sun. It is also home to a race of humanoids that inhabit the third world from the sun they have put quite a few things in orbit and placed several things there they have also sent out probes to explore and communicate with the rest of the universe. The planet they inhabit is mainly water with some parts being landmass and the two poles at the top and the bottom covered in ice.

Earth now has seven continents which have slowly spread out over several million or billion years when the Earth was first populated many centuries before man the continents on Earth were one and it was known as Pangaea which then over a huge amount of time split into two more smaller continents known as Laurasia and Gondwana then that slowly started to split into the continents we know today: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Antarctica.

Meaning Of Artifacts Extended:

Artifacts:

The word Artifact has several difference meaning connected to it there are six of them and they are: • Archaeology Artifacts • Softwere Development Artifacts • Cultural Artifacts • Virtual Artifacts • UML Artifacts • Educational Learning Artifacts.

Out of the six of them they all have the same sort of properties just they are created using different things, here is an list of what they are: Artifact (archaeology), an object formed by humans, particularly one of interest to archaeologists, Artifact (software development), one of many kinds of tangible byproducts produced during the development of software, Cultural artifact, anything created by humans which gives information about the culture of its creator and users,Virtual artifact, an object in a digital environment, Artifact (UML), a term in the Unified Modeling Language, Learning artifact (education), an object created by students during the course of instruction.

Artifacts also are know as errors in digital devices, programs and even medical treatments, in business they are a technology product design company and they are used in quite a wide range of things in popular modern culture in such things like computer games, tv shows and films. The word Artifact is also used by a hip-hop group, ballet and an music album.

Voyager Public Views:

If Voyager Was To Be Launched Today:

Differences From Then And Now:

I thought since there was no information on any protests about the Voyager missions which I have put down to the lack of knowledge about the consequences of the probes so I thought I might do a bit of research on some movies and stories about what happens after the new civilization arrives at earth to become friends or they arrive and they are hostile. I am going to look at some films and maybe books about these encounters and looks at the positives and the negatives and the final outcomes at the end of them and see how they benefit or put a stop the Human Race and Earth.

I am also going to do some research into what people would think if the Voyager missions would be launched again in this day and age and see how people react and how goverments and companies around the world react considering the mass hysteria that is instilled into the Human race when a spaceship full of aliens appear over one of our cities the only reason we know this is because of how movies and tv shows have portrayed the arrival of extra terrestials on Earth and each of them show how differently something like that ends up in the end. I think this would have had a massive effect on the way we will act since we have seen these films showing the mass destruction of Earth...

The people who lived back when the Voyager probes were first launched would not of had a idea of what sort of consequences that it might have in the future of our planet but now because of all the films that has shown quite a lot of possible scenarios with aliens coming to Earth I believe would put a lot more fear into the population than it would of done maybe in the 1960s-70s. There are quite a lot of films showing these sort of scenarios which I will research further on in this project.

Alien Advancements:

Alien Advancements:

Alien Advancements:

If Aliens to come Earth and they are friendly there could be countless possbilities where they could help us on Earth one of the major problems our entire world is facing at the moment is Global Warming aliens could provide new technology to help stop this or even provide us with a new source of energy which is clean and does not release and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, they could help us with building designs city designs help us rennovate the urban areas of our countries and turn them into nice places to live.

Another of the many advancements that they could give us is in medical technology if we just got a hold of some sort of advancement it could help cure many of the dieases that are killing people around our world, with something like that we could solve most of the worlds medical issues and people can live in perfect health and focus on doing what they want to do in life.

They could even provide us with advancements in our own technologies creating far superior computers and mobile devices for us to use, even help us create our own super computer network, help us get into space ourselves the amount of possibilities with advanced aliens helping us is massive if they want to help us they could change our world.

Negative Alien Interaction:

Negative Alien Interaction:

Negative Alien Interaction:

I was trying to find different information about the Voyager missions but I could not see if anyone protested against sending the probes at the time after a while of searching I came up with nothing and thinking about it I doubt the mission would of been stopped since it was by the United States and Nasa, then it came to my mind that people would not know the consequences of such an action since the whole alien invasion idea had only came about in 90s in movies and a bit earlier in books so it wouldn’t of been on peoples mind about the extinction of the Human race over the launch of a probe to find other civilizations in the stars.

Like many films that have been created aliens that come to Earth come to earth for our natural resources and do not care for our existence they come in ships to destroy our world so they can easy gather the materials they need to carry on with their civilization.

In some movies the entire Human race is completely wiped out and the only remains of our civilization is the ruins of our cities, maybe the aliens might take some Humans as slaves so part of our race will survive but will not be free as we live on Earth.

In some films they even go as far as destroying our moon to further gather their gain from assaulting our world which in the long run will damage our planet even further in the long run because of the moons gravitational pull on the Earth.

There are several films that shown a destroyed Earth with barely any Human inhabitants or none at all with the remnants of what is left.

Protest:

We Go to Them:

They Come To Us:

There are many different arguements putting forward the positive effects of extra terrestial contact and all the benefits it could bring. It is just making the contact first is the hard part, the main Mission of the Voyager probes is to make contact with other civilizations so we can come together and share technology, cultures and become united in this huge universe. These are the main reasons that people and the goverments around the world want to make contact with other worlds to help betters ourselves and help us understand the world that we live in.

On a less positive note the Aliens we make contact with could be the less advanced species and we end up taking advantage of them or taking over their planet like just what happened on the film Avatar or in North-America with the native Americans and it will be another stain on the history of man kind, or on a positive note we could share technology and culture like we would expect from higher beings and help the less advanced species become better and help them understand the universe.

Things could play out massively different depending on who ever goes to who first, no matter what happens one civilization will be changed for ever maybe even both depending on how diplomatic relations go either way the gain or loss in technology could set a chain of events into motion that could shape the rest of the galaxy....

Views On Alien Visiting Earth:

Views On Alien Visiting Earth:

Views On Alien Visiting Earth:

There are many different views on aliens visiting Earth many of them is what would happen if we did make contact with another civilization most think it will be like the colonisation of America some think it will be like the movie District 9.

Some even think it will we be like Avatar were we will be the ones to make first contact... Look how that ends up, most of the arguements for against are basically just the more advanced becoming the stronger one and conquering the less advanced civilization and turning them into slaves or even turning it into a mass extinction of the Human race.

Hopefully it wont turn our like that and it will go well and both of the races can work together to gather new technology and learn about the universe we live in.

Protest Against

Avatar:

Divergent:

Independence Day:

Avatar is one of the films that i mentioned in the previous research sheet and I have used this as one of the points against and could be for the argument depending on peoples morales. The story is Humanity meets an alien race on another planet and they are not very advanced technologically and at first relations between our two people went well in this story but then we found a metal in the planet that we wanted and then our intentions went from peaceful and friendly to deceptive to try and find a way to get hold of the metal without them knowing which then slowly turns into an all out war between our two people for this expensive metal.

Divergent is a Novel/Movie created in the futuristic post-apocolyptic city of Chicago, I chose this movie as part of one of my positives and negatives which could come about since the launch of the Voyager Interstellar Mission. I have decided to start with Divergent since it is a movie after a catastrophic event has changed the world and the city of Chicago has the last group of humans that they know of and it is their only hope to survive, they have been divided into four faction which help the city run which range from farmers to the police to help increase their chances of survival.

I have chosen Independence Day to prove a point that if the voyager probes did meeet an advanced civilisation this is how it could turn out if the aliens are not friendly and if they come to Earth for water and they do not want to talk so it might go the way that Independence Day shows it happening and they try to wipe out the Human race to take the water for themselves and move onto the next planet.

This is just one of the many possible outcomes that could come from meeting up with aliens and it could be different but this is a good example because there is visual aspects that i can show by using this film to help people understand what I am trying to put across.

Edward Tufte:

Edward Tufte is a statistician and artist, and Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Statistics, and Computer Science at Yale University. He wrote, designed, and self-published 4 classic books on data visualization. The New York Times described ET as the “Leonardo da Vinci of data,” and Business Week as the “Galileo of graphics.” He is now writing a book/film The Thinking Eye and constructing a 234-acre tree farm and sculpture park in northwest Connecticut, which will show his artworks and remain open space in perpetuity. He founded Graphics Press, ET Modern gallery/studio, and Hogpen Hill Farms LLC.

Edward Rolf Tufte was born in 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Virginia Tufte and Edward E. Tufte. He grew up in Beverly Hills, California, and graduated from Beverly Hills High School.[3] He received a BS and MS in statistics from Stanford University and a PhD in political science from Yale. His dissertation, completed in 1968, was entitled The Civil Rights Movement and Its Opposition. He was then hired by Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, where he taught courses in political economy and data analysis while publishing three quantitatively inclined political science books.

Tufte’s writing is important in such fields as information design and visual literacy, which deal with the visual communication of information. He coined the word chartjunk to refer to useless, non-informative, or information-obscuring elements of quantitative information displays. Tufte’s other key concepts include what he calls the lie factor, the data-ink ratio, and the data density of a graphic.

Earth Artifact

Edward Tufte

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

He uses the term “data-ink ratio” to argue against using excessive decoration in visual displays of quantitative information. In Visual Display, Tufte explains, “Sometimes decorations can help editorialize about the substance of the graphic. But it’s wrong to distort the data measures—the ink locating values of numbers—in order to make an editorial comment or fit a decorative scheme.”

Benedikt Taschen:

Benedikt Taschen:

Benedikt Taschen:

It began as Taschen Comics publishing Benedikt’s extensive comic collection. Taschen has been a noteworthy force in making lesser-seen art available to mainstream bookstores, including some fetishistic imagery, queer art, historical erotica, pornography and adult magazines (including multiple books with Playboy magazine). Taschen has helped bring this art into broader public view, by publishing these potentially controversial volumes alongside its more mainstream books of comics reprints, art photography, painting, design, fashion, advertising history, film, and architecture.

Taschen’s publications are available in a variety of sizes, from large tomes detailing the complete works of Leonardo da Vinci, to surprisingly uncommon middle-sized books, to their “Icons” series of small, flexicover volumes which encapsulate themes of everything from old ads of Las Vegas, Nevada to male nudes. The company has also produced calendars, address books, and postcards of popular subjects.

Another popular series is their ‘Basic Art’ series, which has around 50 volumes, each about a separate artist, ranging from artists such as Michelangelo to more contemporary artists such as Norman Rockwell. They also publish a ‘Basic Architecture’ series in the same style as ‘Basic Art’ that covers some of the most prominent architects in history, such as Frank Lloyd Wright. Taschen has published one of the most expensive books in publishing history, the $15,000, 75 pound, 700 page GOAT (Greatest of All Time), a tribute to the American boxer Muhammad Ali which Der Spiegel called “the biggest, heaviest, most radiant thing ever printed in the history of civilization.” They have also published the $15,000 Helmut Newton retrospective Sumo and a $4,000 limited edition Araki volume.

The company’s stated mission has been to publish innovative, beautifully designed art books at popular prices. The Icons series, for example, has several new volumes published a year, and retailing for about $10 are inexpensive for published collections of art.

Welcome to Earth Idea

Blending in What to do What not to do Basic information on Earth

Source of information • Films • Stories • Previous “Encounters”?

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

General Idea:

Information and Sources:

Media and Alignment:

The general idea for this is to create some sort of piece of advertising media which would be used by a extra-terrestrial which had moved to Earth to blend into Human society and live the remainder of their lives with us, obviously they will have to try to blend in a much as they can and act like us Humans do in public. If Humans found out that there was an alien moving around just like us there would be wide-spread panic and mistrust amongst the public and things would deteriorate quite rapidly and this is why I think something like this would be good for an alien because it could include information on Earth kind of like a mini version of the Golden Record that you can fit in your pocket.

There are many things that will need to be included in this guide to blending in with the Human race: what to do, what not to do and images of what certain things are so they will have a basic understanding of what is normal and what isn’t. I will also be including basic information about the Earth like languages, locations and people.

I am hoping to either create a booklet, leaflet or a series of posters if I decide to follow this idea all the way I want to create something creative and unique like something from the two images above the top one with the sunglasses is very very simplistic but I like that because it still gets the message across and the one at the bottom is even cooler literally... The heat from the city will rise and begin to melt the ice which is above it which will eventually flood the city and destroy it which is kind of like a metaphor for Global warming which is happening around the world.

Earth Artifact

I will be getting this information from other science fiction media programs that have been aired over time like Men in Black which has helped aliens migrate to Earth and helping them to fit in.

What is in the Message?:

Probe/Misc:

Idea - A message in a bottle are sent out and no one really knows where the ocean will take the bottom and where it will land or who will recieve it.

Inside the message - The information inside the bottle will be the same as the original Golden Record just updated since the gain of knowledge since the time the first one was launched.

The probes design and aesthetic look - possible encounters.

Message In A Bottle Idea

• The probe could be a smaller version of Earth with all the information being linked to the countries around the world • Or some other design that could be used to show it is from Earth or maybe something else. • The probe could possibly be destroyed if it is somehow delayed or the trajectory is change by something in space • It could be found by aliens or even reach a planet and it not be found at all.

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

General Idea:

Information & Sources:

Media:

The general idea for this message in a bottle is to create a literal message in a bottle ofcourse since technology has come a long way since then if I want to set it in our time I could use a USB or some other form of device that could hold all the information that is on the Golden Record original and more since there will be a lot more room for additional information.

The information which will be stored on the new design could be the same as that was on the original or I could try to gather more information which could be vital in helping an alien civilization to understand who and what we are,

I am thinking a series of promotional posters would be a good outcome for this idea, they could be showing the new design of the probe and Golden Record or even promoting the new technology that is inside it which could help us communicate the information inside the an alien civilization.

Or I could even set it in the future where the Golden Record could just be a glass orb with the information carved into it or maybe it could be a form of technology that holds the information and engraved on it could be a way to access it.

Earth Artifact

There could even be additional technology stored in the artifact which could let us track it and even tell us when it has been found or accessed or even destroyed so we know what the fate of it is.

Message In a Bottle

I could even create a short promotional animation which could highlight the new re-designed Golden Record with our or even future technological designs.

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

Origami/Polygon Aesthetic:

How will it work:

Possible Outcomes:

The reason I want to do this sort of look is because I have not done it before and I have always been into origami but I have never thought of linking it together with a low polygon image that I can create on a computer, because of this it opens up a range of oppotunities for the physical and digital design of this idea.

I am thinking it will be the same Golden Record inside just an updated more modern design containing more information and then the “probe is what I am going to give a complete overhaul to and make it like a gift that we could give to other civiliazations if we meet them.

I have been thinking about the possible different outcomes to this idea either it will be a 3D model animation that opens up and you can see inside so kind of like a digital prototype which I will most likely end up creating on Cinema 4D.

Low Polygon - is a polygon mesh in 3D computer graphics that has a relatively small number of polygons. Low poly meshes occur in real-time applications (e.g. games) and contrast with high poly meshes in animated movies and special effects of the same era.

Earth Artifact

This will make it a lot smaller than the original Golden Record Voyager Probe but I think a smaller package like this would allow us to send even more out into the never ending depths of space.

The other possiblity is that I create another series of posters promoting the new design I could encorporate the new design poster as an animation so it can be displayed on big screens on buildings like the ones in New York.

Origami/Polygon Aesthetic Design

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

General Idea:

Information & Sources:

Media:

This idea is basically a complete overhaul of the Golden Record completely and it to be redesigned in a origami paper kind of look I think I could use the origami folding to slowly uncover parts of the information and sections that are on the Golden Record, on the side of looking at the sounds that are on the Record I could use soundwaves to imitate the sounds that are on Earth and have instructions showing how to hear the sound waves.

The information will be the exact same from the Golden Record with only some slight additions just updating it to our time other than that it will just be a complete aesthetic overhaul of the Probe and Message itself.

For this idea I could produce another series of posters which could show the new aesthetic design of the record and the probe.

Earth Artifact

The idea is to give it a low polygon or origami look which could unfold into many different sections which just starts off as Earth as a origami ball.

Origami/Polygen Aesthetic Idea

Or it could be an animation showing it either way it will just be a promotional poster to show the aesthetic changes that have been made.

Daniel Whitworth Graphic Design

Leaflet/Booklet:

Properties:

Unique Designs:

I have decided to look at different ways companies produce leaflets and booklets and I came across all of these they range from simple small posters to complex folding booklets with many pages, some of them have hard backs and some of them are just another piece of paper and are quite flimsy unlike the others.

I am thinking the leaflet/booklet should orignally be A4 size and then it is folded down into something smaller like the star shaped one to the right.

I want to create something which is quite unique in its aesthetic design so it is not something that you will see everyday but it will grab your attention and catch your interest if you saw it.

It should be made out of some sort of card so it is not flimsy but is quite durable, this would ofcourse increase the cost of the leaflet production but since it would be quite valuable I think it would be worth it in the long run.

I could focus on making an outer shell for it to be different and then just a standard leaflet/booklet design inside, I will look at different shapes to use and maybe even create a new 3d shape using a net which could hold the leaflet itself I will have to have a look later on.

I could also try using different colors of card for the final design if it comes that far.

Message In A Bottle:

Types of Bottle:

Types of Message:

I have decided to look at other types of messages in a bottles, most of them seem to have old designs with old pieces of paper in them I think everyone who has sent them out either did it a long time ago or wanted that sort of effect so no matter where it landed they could look at the message even if they did not understand it.

There are many types of bottle that I could use but there is nothing saying that it has to be an actual bottle it could be any sort of container that could fit the message or Golden Record inside...

The message inside the container could be anything really it could be a lot of paper or even just the same Golden Record inside but I’m thinking maybe something more modern would go better inside , maybe a usb stick or even something more high tech than that, it could be a screen with some sort of data storage on it and soon as it feels the touch of something it turns on and starts showing data about Earth.

Message In A Bottle Research

I am thinking maybe a glass ball might be a more suitable thing for me to look at so that people who discover it can see inside and what it is, I could even include information engraved on the outer shell of the glass explaining what it is and how to access it.

Origami Possiblities:

Origami-Polygon Earth:

Polygon Landscapes:

I could create things like this above out of paper myself and see what it could look like or I could even try to create a model of this on a program like Cinema 4D or something to see how it would react to holding something like the Golden Record and how it would have to be adjusted.

This sort of thing could be quite beneficial but it is also quite time consuming because I will have to get the materials colors and then learn how to create something like this physically and get it right within the first few goes since I dont want to sink to much time into a small experimentation part of the project.

I really like the Earth that has the white lines and dots around it and I think something like that would look really good as a promotional poster for this idea if I decide to go down the series of posters outcome.

I think something like the top image created in a modelling program would be a lot better and take less time to create.

Some of the images inside which are more memorable and well known I could create as low polygon images and use them as promotional posters or even sets for an animation, the more recognisable I make it the better I think since it is something that happened quite a while ago and not everyone will remember everything about it especially the youth of today and I think it is a good idea that they know about it and we get their input to what they think we should do and how they think it should look aesthetically.

Types Of Leaflets:

Types Of Leaflets:

Types Of Leaflets:

There are many different types of leaflets that I could create to use for this idea, I have got an image above of a few that I like and there is some there that I do not like.

I have picked out my favorite three ones from this image I have mainly chosen these ones because each of them have one side that can be hidden and I could put a map of the area where they are living on it or something like an image of the world or a world map, and then the rest of the information can be on the outside linking in with where they are living or something.

I do not really like the rest of them because they are either just too many pages or not enough and they do not provide enough segments for me to cover the wide range of things that I might have to cover in an What Not To Do On Earth Alien Immigration Booklet/ Leaflet.

Leaflet Aesthetic:

What will be inside it:

What sort of thing im looking for:

Ideally for this project I want to maybe create something like the one at the middle bottom which looks unique and it is going to be able to take a bit of a beating and most importantly have a slick modern design.

I want the leaflet to contain different things inside it so kinda like a package that can hold different things and important documents that they might of been given which could prove useful for them to keep hold of and this leaflet could doublt as a folder maybe where they could store that sort of information.

The other leaflets I think the Top Middle one is too small for me to even consider and would be too basic in the end and the one at the top right would not be very good for this project since it does not look modern, but on the other hand it could be a good image to use for my message in a bottle idea, since it is like an old letter rolled up and wrapped by a small string or ribbon.

Types of Bottles:

Bottle Design:

Bottle Design:

I have had a quick look at different bottles from ones that were some of the very first to be made and some of the more modern ones that are being designed and created today for my message in a bottle idea, I like the old bottles not like the old wine bottles but the more sleek and designed ones like the one at the bottom left which could be a possible candidate for me to use if I followed this idea all the way through.

I also like the more modern unique designs of glasses that are like the images above that have the embossed indented effect on them to create an intricate pattern to make them look like a bit more of a bottle but since the first golden record was in a probe I think if I went for the more modern design for a bottle like the one above and I could put the message in there and it would be sealed and maybe could even survive in space for quite a long time so it could be referred to as a probe or just a bottle of some type.

I am most likely going to use a more modern bottle if I do choose to use a bottle in the end but if not I will most likely be using some sort of hollow transparent sphere or cuboid, and the Golden Record.

Message Design:

I want to use some old type of paper like this if I use an old bottle but I will most likely will be using a modern bottle so I will use pure white paper or something to make it look more modern.

The paper will have folds in them and it will be creased but I am going to either create it myself of create it on cinema 4D and then animate it if i have enough time in the end. If I have to create it with paper I will get the right tools and measure it out and cut it where I need to try and make it look as professional as I can.

I would rather create it on after effects or Cinema 4D so it is perfectly measured out and the shapes are correct and it can be smooth I think this would be a better idea and work out alot better in the end.

Origami Types:

There are quite a few different types of origami balls that I can make for this project, I have gathered a few basic ones that I should be able to recreate myself there is one that I am going to attempt which is quite detailed and advanced which I do not know if I will be able to create it but I am going to give it a shot and see how it turns out in the end.

I am going to have to find a way to make it open so everything that can come out of it including all the information that is included in the discs and the Earth could keep unfolding showing all the information fold by fold, I know that the sounds are going to be hard to put onto paper so I am thinking if I use music notes and soundwaves to help translate the sounds that are on the golden disc so other civilizations can understand it.

Obviously some of these can’t be used since they will not be able to open in the middle to reveal the Golden Record I am either going to have to find another way for them to open or just create them as a 3D model on the computer and then split the middle so it can be done without creating the object physically and physics stopping me from doing so.

I am thinking about using animals which I have made out of paper and put them into a program and I might try to animate them and make them come out of the earth when the sounds of the animals are being shown or the genetics of them or even the history of the Earth hence why I have gathered images of paper dinosaurs.

I might even look at some music notes later on to see if I can put them in somewhere and some of some other objects from Earth and its history, each of them I am going to try and make myself using some sort of Origami process, I am going to have to look at video tutorials on things like youtube.com and see what I can learn from there to see what I can create for this project.

Hopefully I have enough time to create the final piece since I have quite an ambitious idea so far.

Different Polygon Types:

Types of Polygons:

Polygon Types:

Low Polygon - I like the look of a more polygon images since they are more in line with origami style objects which is kind of the idea that I want to go for in the redesign process.

There are all sorts of different polygons that I can use to create an image like this most of them would either use three or four sided shapes like squares and triangles in my eyes I think an image made of low polygon triangles look the best obviously I will try them both and see what they look like, I could even apply them to the final one and see what people think on which one is best...

There are two different types of low polygon art there is the 2D art like the landscape image about and the 3D side of it which is a object generally created on something like Cinema 4D, I am going to be aiming to create something that is 3D or even 4D on Cinema 4D, I don’t know how to do it yet but I am confident with the resources that I can access I can learn how to create a basic shape on it and create a basic animation to use for the final outcome if I don’t decide to create a series of posters.

High Polygon - As you can see there is a massive difference between low and high polygon images I think the high polygon trees do look good but I think for the effect that I am going for it would be better to use the low polygon style to help me progress in the redesign.

Why Low Polygon Triangles?:

Other Polygon Concepts:

Low Polygon Animals:

Polygon meshes are one of the major methods of modelling a 3D object for display by a computer. Polygons can, in theory, have any number of sides but are commonly broken down into triangles for display. In general the more triangles in a mesh the more detailed the object is, but the more computationally intensive it is to display. In order to decrease render times (i.e. increase frame rate) the number of triangles in the scene must be reduced, by using low poly meshes.

I could even start looking at giving the Golden Record a complete Low Polygon overhaul and begin to start changing the images of creatures and maybe even famour artworks or landscapes that are included in the Golden Record, I think maybe the best ones to create would be animals like the three above which have been created by Timothy Reynolds.

I think the challenge of Low Polygon animals would be a very good thing, and I believe that the accuracy of the final product really does resemble the animals in question likes the ones above and if I add a bit of color to them as well I think they will be able to be recognised really easy, I will just have to decide whether to create the animals in 2D or 3D....

Why I Like it:

Turnislefthome is the independent studio of 3D Illustrator Timothy J. Reynolds. Born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. Now currently living and working in Milwaukee, WI. Proud father of a Cockapoo puppy named Wembley. Yes, named after the Fraggle.

I have picked Timothy Reynolds as my first artist research since he has created a wide range of artworks from landscapes to animals to interiors using the Low Polygon style and he has created his own creations that look absolutely stunning and he is one of the reasons why I want to follow the Low Polygon style in this project.

I am going to use some of his style and apply it to the Golden Record and Voyager Probe, I am going to be looking at applying his style to a mainly 3D model which is going to contain the Probe and the Golden Record.

Who is Alexander Koshelkov?:

Why have I chosen Alexander?:

What Is My Interest In Alex’s Work?:

Alex, creative Graphic Designer, has 9 years of experience in Graphics and Web Designing. Expertise in providing effective online and print solutions for small businesses. Graphic artist. Conceptual thinker possessing high work ethics and standards. He has created advertising posters, stands, panels, banners, business card and other printing products.

I am using Alexander as one of my artist research because I want to create something in the same way he does and I hope that it will turn out just as good as he does his, I want to create a poster using Photoshop which includes my Origami ball and the Earth somewhere on the page maybe in space or something with the Golden Record just sat there waiting to be taken.

Alexander Koshelkov is a Creative Graphic Designer who has around 9 years of experience in the Graphics industry. I first started looking at Alex’s work on YouTube since he has got quite a few followers on there, Since the start of college I have always liked his work and I have to say that he has influenced quite a few of my projects since I like to do Photoshop Manipulations like he does on his YouTube channel. I some how want to link this in to my final outcome for this project if I choose to follow the poster series outcome.

Who Is Jo Nakashima?:

Jo Nakashima’s Style:

Why I like Jo Nakashima:

Jo Nakashima is a origami instrustor of a sort since he/she has uploaded quite a few videos to YouTube now which show people from beginners to experts on how to create unique and intricate origami models from a single piece of paper requiring very little other than a pair of hands to model the paper after how they do it in the video.

Jo Nakashima’s style is really based around everything and anything that is origami...

I have picked Jo Nakashima as one of my artist research because I think the way they show anyone how to create these simple or complex 3D models out of paper which could come in handy in the future.

Why I like Possytiv Designs:

He is called Felix but he is known as Possy on YouTube On his Channel you will find nearly only speedarts. there are many other videos but now he is mainly a 3D Graphic Designer. He started GFX after christmas 2012 and now he specialises on 3D modelling with Cinema4D.

Possytiv Designs is Graphic Designer and 3D Modelling student that I have found on YouTube I have mainly gone with artists on YouTube for the final outcome choice because I have noticed there is a lot of unseen talent on there with some people coming up with very simple ideas which could become quite interesting and the majority of artists that I have looked at have inspired me to try and create something of my own.

If I could I want to animate my 3D model that I might create later on If I do I will be using Cinema 4D and maybe After Effects to create this as a small Gif or something maybe I will have to see what I think off with developments further down the line, Possytiv Designs are one of the many people who have inspired me to look at a 3D modelling route and Cinema 4D.

Origami Poster:

Origami Poster:

Origami Poster:

If I decide to go with my origami poster idea I want to have the Earth in the middle of the image which is partially open that is why I have the image of the origami ball on both my animation and poster page I want to still use it if I can on the poster side of things, so I think I might create it and put the Earth skin on it as soon as possible and then I can use it if I need it.

Each of the images I have gathered are nearly the same just have different views on the Earth I want a kind of simple image maybe like the one which looks like the Earth is in a bubble or its own ball or protection, I could even move the Earth to the bottom right of a corner of the image and then have my Origami ball orbiting the Earth or something I will have to have a think about it in the future.

I think on the origami side of things I am going to have a think about it a bit more and decide whether or not I want to go down this route or change it to the Low Polygon idea and then follow that to the end instead since that I can do on the computer and I think I would enjoy doing that more in the long run which should keep my interest in the project high.

Origami Animation:

Origami Animation:

Origami Animation:

These are some animations that other people have created using different origami objects and I think they are all very effective, the one on the left I think is very good I like how it emerges and deconstructs itself back into a simple square on the ground I think something like this would be very good to use in my final idea if I did do an animation.

I could give this ball a “skin of the Earth to make it look like our planet and maybe even animate some clouds on our planet that move slowly before it collapses into half of its original size to reveal what is inside, I don’t know about making it turn into a square yet since I want it to be maybe held up by something inside the square.

If I have the time I want to try and create some smaller animations like the panda one which can start to come out of inside the Earth or off the Golden Disk/Record itself and they can be simple bits of paper first and then they slowly turn into the animal that it is supposed to be. I will be most likely using a combination of Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects to create this final piece in the end if I do decide to go down the route of an Earth Artifact Animation.

Low Polygon Poster:

Low Polygon Poster:

Low Polygon Poster:

If I decide to go with my Low Polygon style of poster it will be created digitally and not physically like the origami one and I think this is a good thing because it should make the end product look more professional and more in line with what I am hoping the end product is going to look like if I do go down the poster side of my idea.

I really think the Low Polygon style is a good idea to be used for the Golden Record since it was launched around the time computers were first coming into daily use and that is when Low Polygon art was created whether or not it was intended to be. It has slowly evolved over the years and has really come out of its shell in the past ten years or so.

For my final outcome I want to create two or three posters that are based on the Low Polygon style I am thinking one which is completely Low Poly and then maybe the other two have maybe 50% of the image is Low Poly and so on so I can get the best of both worlds and the best of none to see what it looks like before I work on the final fourth poster.

Low Polygon Animation:

Low Polygon Animation:

Low Polygon Animation:

I have gathered some different Low Polygon animations that are on the internet, I have picked this cloud one especially since the animation of the cloud is just going up and down which I thought would be an important option to consider since the direction of the animation or where the animation is going is a major part in the process and creating my own animation.

This animation is a simple and the 3D model just simply rotates in the same place which is kind of what I want in my end animation I think if I decide to go down that route the only thing is I want my final one to be a bit slower than that one since it is going quite quick and I want my animation to show off or advertise the new Aesthetic look of the Golden Record and Voyager Probe.

This is the sort of shape that I want to create so it can be opened in the middle to reveal what is inside which will be the Golden Record, I think this is a good way of doing it because this could be a smaller design so we can launch more of them into space or even just launch two again and save on costs in the long run.

Origami Rose-Cube:

I was thinking along the lines of what sort of things could come out of my Golden Disk/Record Earth ball and I thought what if I include things from nature that have grown on Earth along-side us since animals are included on the Golden Record but I don’t know if they included information about plant-life or nature on it.

I also thought it might be a good idea to include that this time by creating models of let’s say in this case a rose it can also turn into a cube which is what really attracted me to creating this one out of the many others that you can be shown how to create on YouTube.

I want to also include some animals that I have tried to create myself which I will show in another research sheet.

Origami Owl:

This is the Origami Owl that I spoke of in the previous Research sheet and I thought it would be a good one to create since it is quite a simple animal to create out of all the ones that are out there and it doesn’t require any cutting or sticking of any kind just specific folds which hold it all together.

The owl here does go a bit further and it looks more 3D at the end but because I did not have the correct materials to create the same final outcome as the video I had to stop here if I do manage to get hold of the materials to finish them off I will for the final one but if not I will have to work some design magic to make them look a bit more three dimensional.

I could have the owl flying out of the ball or something or just floating away since it doesn’t have any wings I will have to have a try with it and see how it goes.

Low Polygon Golden Record:

Low Polygon Golden Record:

Low Polygon Golden Record:

This is my attempt to create a Low polygon version of the Golden Record which I am most likely going to use in my final product. I originally watched several YouTube videos on different ways to create a Low Polygon image after seeing these different videos I picked the one that I thought was the least time consuming and the most effective and started to follow the procedure they did. The only difference between most of them was you would only turn half the image into Low Polygon and then reflect that onto the other side and the other process you would Low Polygon the entire image.

The process that I followed was pretty basic at first I would set up a 20x20 pixel grid over the image and enable snap to grid so when I first started drawing it would just the the intersections of the square so when I color it in later there wouldn’t be any gaps. To color each segment in instead of using specific colors from the Golden Record itself I would use a Average blur filter tool that is built into Adobe Photoshop to generate the correct color to go in the alloted segment of the shape.

I think overall this is a good effect even though it is quite time consuming since it does look like a simple style and is quite easy to do but it does take quite a bit of time to come up with the final image at the end since each of the triangles and shapes have to be created manually and linked together using the snap grid that I setup at the start of the process.

Eagle Low Polygon:

Eagle Low Polygon:

Eagle Low Polygon:

I decided to use the symmetry process for this Low Polygon Eagle since I used the non-symmetry process on the Golden Record Low Polygon that I created in the last experiment. This one was a bit more lengthy since I had to add a background to it to stop it from just being pointy at the top maybe it would of looked better if there was points at the top but I decided it would be more like the Low Polygon style if I did this.

I used pretty much the exact same process but I only had to draw triangles and color in half of the eagle itself and then I just reflected it to the other side, since I used a thicker outline than I did in the last one there are gaps inbetween the triangles on the eagle which is leaving a line between each shape which I think is good because it shows the differences between the two different processes.

I am not sure which one that I like the most out of the two processes I might try one or two more with each of these ways and then see what other people think I should go with in the end because I am at a loss with which process that I should go with.

Low Polygon Earth:

Low Polygon Earth:

Low Polygon Earth:

For this experimentation I went forward using all the pieces of information and processess that I have learnt and used in the previous experimentations. Since I am going to create some sort of Earth I thought it would be a good idea to begin looking at creating my own versions using Adobe Photoshop before I try to create my own in Cinema 4D

I have looked at different techniques and finishing that I could use I looked at keeping all the outlines around each shape on the experimentation then also looked at just having them around the major landmassess of Earth and then completely not having them at all, later on I added the space background into the image since it was appropriate.

I think I will be looking at other ways of creating a Low Polygon image and further refining my own skills at creating them, I am hoping to be able to include all of my experimentations in my final piece at the end I am thinking of creating a 3D Model and then using that in a animation for my final product.

Since this was my first attempt at using Cinema 4D since the workshop week I had been wanting to give the program another go and since the Low Polygon effect is created so well in Cinema 4D I went looking on YouTube to find some tutorials. I found a YouTube channel called Mt. Mograph and I followed their tutorial to create this effect above.

At first I had to open Adobe After Effects CC and then create a MAXON Cinema 4D file which then opened up Cinema 4D itself and I began to follow the tutorial, which led me through a series of different stages from creating a simple square to rotating it and applying a material texture and color to the cube to create the Low Polygon effect.

The hardest part of this tutorial was rendering just the simple image of the composition that I chose to use to I ended having to use the internet to find out how to do it turns out I had to just simple click Composition>Save Image As and then render it to my desktop as a JPEG image.

Deer 3D Model:

Deer 3D Model:

I followed a youtube tutorial to create this Deer model which was only fourty-five minutes long but for me to create this it took me a lot longer to create it. I followed the tutorial pretty much exactly how it shown me but because my version of Cinema 4D is a few updates behind the one he was using I encountered a few problems which stopped me from completing certain parts of the Deer and adding certain finishing effects to it. I will have to try and add these another time when I have the latest version of Cinema 4D.

To create this I had two reference images of Deer’s that the creator of the tutorial gave out to create an extensive stencil of the body and head using Loft effects without the phong effect so it gave it more of a ridgid body making it more like a Low Polygon Deer, I had to slowly go over the body with a n-Side shape slowly rotating, resizing and moving as it needed to be done.

Once this was done it was time to begin to create the legs and antlers these were pretty simple once I had created one of the legs correctly I just had to simply duplicate that one leg and then attempt to resize it and rotate it to make it look more realistic once that was done it was time to use another one of the reference images to see what the antlers looked liked and to help me make them look more realistic, once I had created one of them I used the Symmetry tool to move and create another one and it looked just as I had reflected the first one I made onto the other side of the Deer’s head and then it was complete other than adding a bit of color and reflection to make it stand out.

Low Polygon Island:

This is another attempt at creating a Low Polygon landscape that I did again following the tutorial from Matt at Mt. Mograph who does some really good Cinema 4D videos which are very good for people from beginners to experts. I wanted to create something that was on its own island since I thought that would be easer to intergrate into my hologram Idea.

Again I am not going to talk through the entire process of this 3D model since it would take just far too long and take up too much room on my research sheet so I will link the video that I followed below so you can see exactly what I did, he added some more things into this like some buildings and a aeroplane but I did not want to do this since I just wanted a basic landscape free of any sort of earth artifacts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjuD81GAmjQ <- Low Polygon Island Tutorial.

I think the Low Polygon island is very good and I am really looking forward to be working with it to turn it into a hologram I think I might have to go back and change the way the water is going off the edge to make the hologram look better and keep it inside the box that I am going to be putting round the hologram to keep it contained. Again I am going to be looking at Holograms and their projecters to see what sort of thing I can come up with because I think the combination of this with Low Polygon could really create something which looks really good and is very unique and I am especially up for putting in the time to create this as well.

Since the majority of designs that I have found have been based around circles, cylinders or spherical objects I think I am going to do the same since I want to create a more futuristic design and most depictations of futuristic technology show them as being balls or solid squares but I think I am going to follow the spherical option and see what sort of thing I can come up with.

I think I am going to create my own hologram projector and my own version of a holographic projection, I think this would be a good way of showing the difference between each section of information that is contained on the original Golden Record. The main reason why I believe this is the most viable option for me to do is because it provides a visual display of a whole range of objects that are contained on the Golden Record which I believe would be invaluable to any civilization that would come across this object.

Hologram Research:

A Hologram is a technique which enables three-dimensional images (holograms) to be made. It involves the use of a laser, interference, diffraction, light intensity recording and suitable illumination of the recording. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional.

I think looking at different types of holograms is a good idea to see what sort of things would look good as a hologram and things that would not look very good if I tried to recreate them as holograms. I am going to be looking at different colors to use in my design but my initial idea to to use something like Blue or Cyan for the color and then black and white for the actual projector.

I am going to be looking at creating a hologram for a few of the main sections of information that are contained in the Golden Record so like; Earth, Science, Medicene and a few more if I have the time... I want to try and cover some of the main parts of so people know what it is and I am either going to follow on with an animation of the hologram rotating and changing to the different sections or just create a series of posters showing different sections of information.

The holographic recording itself is not an image; it consists of an apparently random structure of either varying intensity, density or profile.

For this model I did not follow any tutorial I thought I had spent enough time in Cinema 4D to begin creating my own ideas on the program so I thought maybe going with my Hologram idea would be a good thing if I combined it with my Low Polygon idea as well... I really enjoyed creating the object and I have learned the easy part is creating the object the hardest part of all is finding the right materials and textures to make it look as it does in my head but after a while of thinking about it and a few more videos later I managed to come out with this.

The Hologram projector that I created here is just an experiment to see what sort of thing I could come up with if I did want to go with this idea which I am going to, I used several basic shapes mainly the taurus ring to create this and I even used a polygon editor tool to create the platform from the base circle at the bottom of the projector. At the end it needed something else so I thought maybe adding some lighting to the image would make it look even better I tried red then yellow and then finally settled with the color blue which I thought looked the best with the black and white theme that I am going with.

I think the Hologram Projector looks really good and is following the sleek futuristic design that I want my final object to look like I still do not know what sort of outcome I want at the end of it alls I know is I am either going to do a small set of animations which show off the new aesthetic design of the Hologram projector or a series of posters that do the same but show the different images that the projector will display to an alien race if it is to be found by them.

Hologram Effect:

Hologram Effect:

For the second stage of creating my hologram projected effect I was stuck between using a cone and a pyramid for the final holographic shape in the end I decided on making a cone instead just so the rotation effect that I might put in the animation would run and look alot smoother.

To create the effect it was a simple shape with quite a complex material attached to it, I ended up following another tutorial to help me create a base hologram look and then changed it to how it would better suit my idea that I have got in my head for my final piece.

The hardest part of creating the hologram effect was applying it to the landscape image above since it was a sqaure at first I had to use the boule effect and use the intersect option to make it crop the square into a circle which could fit into the top of the cone the next part was making the hologram visible since the base material that I created was too see through and I was not able to distinguish the different parts of the landscape so I made some subtle changes to the material to make it less transparent and more visible and easier to see.

Hologram Projector 2:

This is the second Hologram projector that I created after my first attempt at using Cinema 4D I think from the first one this is 100% better than the last and I have used different aspects of the program to help me shape the final outcome which at the time when I finished it was my favorite by far. It has a sleek modern look that I want and it combines the white and black well to create a solid realistic object that in my mind would be used for space.

Mainly the projector is just a sphere that I have manipulated bringing parts of the segments in and out by 5 cm each I really like that effect especailly the shape that is created at the top and I would like to try and encorporate that design into other future developments.

I do really like this one but I am going to focus on creating maybe around 3 more just so I can have a bit of a choice and see what other people think is the best one and see which parts they do and don’t like of this one so I can try to encorporate the best bits into the next version and slowly generate one that is aesthetically pleasing.

Other than the sphere there is just mainly outlines that I have drawn on using the sweep effect and added several spheres and tubes around the edges which would “project the image that would be seen on this projector.

Hologram Projector 3:

For my third attempt at a hologram projector design I asked people which one of the two that I already created did they like the most and they said they would prefer a more detailed version of the first one too the second one that I created but they wanted some of the aspects from the second one to be merged with the first one such as the indentations around the projector.

Since this is just a redesign of the last I mainly did what I did before and used taurus rings to create the majority of the shapes there with a combination of disks to create the glass like light effect inside the projector itself, I quite like this and so do other people but I am still favouring my second projector myself so I will see what other people think about this design.

I am not really liking this design over all I think the simple effect of the first one worked but with it being more complicated I do not think it works at all and I have found myself still favouring the second design that I created. I am going to have a look at creating a new one from scratch and see what sort of thing that I can come up with hopefully this will be one that I and my peers will both like the most.

Hologram Projector 4:

This is my most likely fourth and final attempt at creating a Hologram projector to make sure this one is right I am going to put it through design stages and see what people think should be added to it and what does and does not look that good at each stage. I did this and I got some good feedback and additions to my projector like the Parelleograms around the top and the glass effect in the middle apparently everyone including me thinks this is my best one so I think I am going to go with this one.

For this design I focused on creating a futuristic but still modern design using the indentation technique that I used in the previous versions to make it look more realistic instead of it being a perfect taurus ring all the way round I think it looks alot better like this I also had a friend suggest that I show some of the wires that power the object which I thought was a good idea so with his help and idea I added the wires to my Hologram projector and we both agreed it looked alot better.

I think this is the best one so far and my favorite so I am going to go with this one I even followed a YouTube video to help me create this Light Room for it to be shown in which helps show the colours and the use of lights inside the projector itself. I think I am going to go down the route of an animation for this project since I haven’t done one yet and I did a series of posters last time for the last project and I want to broaden my horizons.

Ark Light Scene 1:

Ark Light Scene 2:

Ark Light Scene 3:

For the first scene of my animation I just wanted a simple pan around the projector then a zoom out to where the actual animation will begin so I can show off the Hologram projector that I created, I used a camera attached to a circle which whizzed around the projector and then used a camera target to make it focus on the center of the screen at the end of this 10 second scene.

This one was probably the most important scene of all the turning on of the projector i tried making the light fade it but that proved to be too difficult to do and since the time frame I was on I decided not to pursue that idea and try to make it flicker on at first it was difficult to get right but once I got the hang of the keyframes on Cinema 4D it was easy to do. Also I decided to make the earth rotate I was going to make the camera rotate around the projector again but I thought it looked better for the Earth hologram just to rotate on its own.

For the third scene in my animation I had to add the fade out of the previous hologram to make the deer fade in and look good as it rotated at first I centered the axis point on the deer so it rotated in the middle but I had a few problems with this so I decided to put it back to under the neck where it was when I first created it the rotation is a bit different to the rest of the holograms but I think it looks good to have a bit of change.

Ark Light Scene 4:

Ark Light Scene 5:

Ark Light Title Scene and End Scene:

For the fourth scene in my animation I added the landscape that I created for a experimental Low Polygon landscape and I think it worked really well it was quite easy to get into the animation but I had a problem that I had to crop it into a circle which I used the boule tool to do so with a cylinder and the trees that are on the image had dynamic physics enabled to they fell down as it gravity was there in the animation so I had to turn that off to make sure they stayed up in the air like they are supposed to.

For this fifth scene in my animation I wanted a good outro so I thought why not have it arc over it and maybe even zoom into the hologram and then have it fade out I decided it looked better with just the arc and the zoom in part did not look as good so I left that part out. I used my previous camera trick with the circle and the target to make this happen which was quite simple since I now know what to do with them.

For the intro scene I just decided it should be simple so the name of the projector “Ark Light and then my name at the bottom left since I am its designer, for the end scene I thought it would be good just to have it fade out to black as it zooms in to give it a good finish and that is about it with my animation.

What I think I did good:

What I don’t think I did good:

What would I do different if I did it again:

Since I am the creator I think it is all really good but probably my favorite part of the final product is the Earth animation scene where the hologram flickers and then that fades in I think is my favorite part.

Again I really struggled with time management after having to restart the entire project again which in my eyes was not entirely a bad thing since I think the second run of this project is 1000% better than the previous version since each part of this indesign document has been thought through and not just been thrown on like the previous one.

If I was to do this again I would hopefully think of my final idea a bit sooner instead of following other things then keep changing my mind also I dont think considering the situation that I was in, it wasnt a good idea to challenge myself to learn how to use a program that I have only used once in the past and I didn’t have a clue how to use but thanks to YouTube and some videos I managed to learn the program and come out with a project at the same time.

I think I also did a good job of learning an entire new program which I have never used before and coming out with a outcome such as this is really good and shows that even faced with a challenge or an idea that I am not so skilled in I can adapt to conquer it and come up with a decent design in the process.

I think I could do a bit better on the effects for the intro and the outro and maybe render it in a higher quality if I had a faster pc and the right programs but since I had compatability issues I could not use the macs for this project that are in university.

I could go back and look at the animation itself to make sure I can do it all and maybe even add some more effects to it and increase the quality of the final product in the end without having some insanely stupid render times that screw with my time management.
