This, coupled with a recovering economy, is causing taxpayers to want to better understand their individual tax outlooks, as well as explore opportunities for additional income. H&R Block, the leader in the assisted tax preparation industry, has opened enrollment for its annual, introductory Income Tax Course to the public, including prospective H&R Block professional tax preparers. Qualified candidates who score 80 percent or higher on the 75 hour course, will be eligible to apply for a tax preparation position in one of the company’s retail offices. “More than 60 percent of taxpayers seek the assistance of a paid tax preparer,” said Clay Bullers at H&R Block. “Whether someone is considering a career or just wanting to ensure they are claiming all of the credits and deductions to which they are entitled, the tax course is a great path to take.” All eligible paid tax preparers are required to register with the IRS and they will be required to pass competency exams by Dec. 31, 2013. Classes are offered at 25 Ossian St. here in Dansville. They are held Monday and Thursday mornings 9 AM to 1 PM starting September 6th. RACE COMPETITION TAKES A NIGHT OFF AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2012. (Woodhull, NY) The Woodhull Raceway will do something very rare on Saturday night; September 15, 2012 and that is take a night off during the season. “Traditionally when we start things off in mid-April we race each and every Saturday night until we close up shop in late September or early October stated track owner, Ted White. This past winter when we were putting our 2012 Woodhull Raceway Schedule of Events together we decided to mirror what we did in 2011 and give everyone a night off on Sept. 15. We try to work closely with Little Valley and their “Specials Only Format.” When LV puts their annual schedule together they try not to step on anyone’s toes and we appreciate their attempt to try and work with surrounding race tracks and it is with that thought in mind that we are giving way to Little Valley on Sept. 15. This gives all of our 358 Modified and 360 Late Model race teams as well as our loyal fans and employees an opportunity to travel to Little Valley for a night of race action with out any conflicts.” Woodhull will however be open for practice on Saturday afternoon, September 15 for practice from 1:00 until 4:00 pm. This will allow any type of race car the opportunity to use the track for test and tune purposes. Numerous race teams have indicated they will be at Woodhull in an attempt to get their machines dialed in for the remaining upcoming special events on Sept. 22, 28 and 29. It should also be noted that in the event of a postponement of the Lyle Sherwood Memorial Event on September 11 it will be made up on Friday, September 14.
