Danvers Recreation is offering this Remote Learning Program at the Vye gym in Danvers High School. The program will be run to help facilitate the online classroom learning experience with staff assistance. Internet access, individual work spaces, staff support, and recreation activities (arts, crafts & games!) will be available for every learner in the program. Remote Learning Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What are the eligibility requirements for the program? Danvers Elementary school students in grades K – 8 are eligible for this program. Students are only eligible for this program on the days their classroom is remotely learning. Example: Johnny attends Great Oak Elementary on Monday and Tuesdays for in class learning. Wednesday is the district-wide remote learning day. Therefore, Johnny can register to attend the Remote Learning Program on Thursday and Friday at the Vye gym at Danvers High School.

What about on Wednesday’s? All school facilities will be closed on Wednesday to allow for a deep cleaning of all equipment and spaces between groupings. This cleaning will also be conducted over the weekends.

How will my child learn in this program? Staff will do their best to ensure that participants are engaged in their online learning platform. Staff are not professional tutors or teachers and therefore cannot guarantee the learning process or grade achievement. Staff will communicate with parents to assist in the learning process. Each participant will have their own dedicated working station that is socially distanced from other learners. Danvers school issued Chromebooks should be brought by all participants, as well as headphone or earbuds.

What is the cost of the program? $50 per day, including lunch. Registration periods are monthly. Monthly rates vary.

Why do the fees vary from month to month and group to group? The fees vary from month to month and group to group to reflect the actual amount of days that the participant will be spending in the remote learning program. Example: December has 7 days of remote learning for Group A, therefore the cost for September is $350 (7 days x $50/day = $350). Whereas December has 6 days of remote learning for Group B therefore the cost for December is $300 (6 days x $50/day = $300). See attached Program Fee Calendar.


What is the time of the program? The program opens at 7:30 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. All learners must be in the program before the start of the school day (8:25 AM), or they will not be admitted.

What is provided? Children will be supervised to make sure that they are doing their remote learning. There will be time for lunch provided at no additional cost and time provided for recess.

Can I sign my child up for multiple sessions? Yes, you can register your child for a month at a time.

Is there a sibling discount available? No, there is no sibling discount.

Can my child bring a snack, drink or their own lunch? Yes, snacks and drinks are encouraged. Lunch may also be brought but will be provided if desired.

Will there be lunch provided? Yes, lunch will be provided at no additional cost

How can we ensure that other children aren't sick with COVID-19? While we cannot ensure 100% safety from COVID-19 or perform daily testing, we are trusting in honesty from legal guardians who will be asked a series of questions daily at drop off relating to the physical status of their children in relation to COVID-19 symptoms to help certify their wellbeing.


What happens if someone becomes symptomatic with COVID-19 at the program? For children: Parents will be notified immediately. School nurses will be consulted. The child will immediately be isolated from others until the parents arrive to pick up the child and remove them from the program.

For staff: Staff must cease childcare duties immediately and be removed from others until they can safely leave. Staff must regularly self-monitor during the day to screen for new symptoms and seek a medical professional's opinion prior to being cleared to return to work.

Will children and staff be required to wear masks? Children will be required to wear masks while enrolled in the program. Mask breaks will be conducted on a regular basis outdoors.

Will social distancing be enforced? Yes, all participants must remain 6 feet away at all times.

Will temperature checks be provided at check-in? No. Temperature checks are no longer required for children per the Governor's re-opening plan guidelines.

Can my child walk or ride their bike to the program by themselves? No, all children need to be accompanied and signed in and out by a legal guardian.

Can my child return home at will? No, once a child is at the program they can only be released to a legal guardian. They must also be dropped off by a legal guardian.

Where do I pick up and drop off my child? The Field House entrance. Staff will greet participants curbside to conduct health and wellness checks and ensure safe transport to the program.


How many participants are allowed? 50 participants maximum.

Do I have to call if my child is not going to attend for a day or more? Yes. Please call 978-777-0001 x3094 to let the office know your child will not be at the program. If your child is sick, we would like to know that information as well. If you do not call us, the program staff will call you to inquire why your child is absent.

Do I have to register for both days? Yes, in order for the program to operate successfully participants will be required to register for the 2 days per grouping per month. If you’d like to keep your child home one of the two days, you may do so, however payment is still required for both days.
