The Barcelona Dance Center in collaboration with NYC STAR HOSPITALITIES will host the inaugural season of their Barcelona International Summer Dance Intensive this summer (2015) at the Barcelona Dance Center in the beautiful city of Barcelona, Spain for three to five weeks. The Barcelona International Dance Summer Intensive is a program that provides a rare opportunity for aspiring dancers to train in American and Spanish dance styles with master teachers from NYC & Barcelona. This unique experience includes learning Spanish and the Spanish Catalan heritage. The completion of the five-‐week course ends with the students participating in a public showcase performance. The Barcelona International Summer Dance Intensive was created by Barcelona Dance Center and NYC STAR HOSPITALITIES primarily to offer a high-‐quality educational dance environment in a diverse setting and to build support for the underserved dance community within Barcelona. The mission of BISDI is to further the appreciation of the performance art of Dance by establishing an extended diverse community that provides training, language arts, cultural excursions, community involvement, and performances for people who love to dance. From a career as professional dancers at companies throughout the world, higher education opportunities in dance, or success in other fields, BISDI is committed to developing dancers and dance educators. As important as its artistic and educational mission, this program plays a social responsibility of using the beauty of dance and culture to unite people of all backgrounds, to develop skills of artistry, ambition, self-‐confidence, and open mindedness, and building future audiences within Barcelona and throughout the world.
