One of East Africa’s biggest tourism Expo, Karibu-Kilifair took place from 3-5 June 2022 at Magereza Ground in Arusha, Tanzania after a two-year break due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event brought together investors, tour operators, hoteliers, SMEs and several other tourism stakeholders from around the world as part of efforts to adequately support and showcase the tourism industry in East Africa.

The Karibu-Kilifair expo gets even better in 2022 as the three-day tourism expo event attracts over 7000 participants as Tanzania Travel Industry Recovers.

Under the repeated motto “Where business meets wildlife”, KARIBUKILIFAIR once again provided an excellent marketing platform for the Arusha & Kilimanjaro Region, for Tanzania and beyond, to establish new business relations and to improve existing contacts. Tanzania is one of the few countries in the world where MICE can benefit from the attractive wildlife.

This year “KARIBU-KILIFAIR” witnessed more than 400 exhibitors from 12 different countries with almost 400 registered travel agents from 38 countries, as well as approximately 7000+ interested travel visitors attending the show

Participants included tourism organisations, tour operators, owners of hotels and lodges as well as safari equipment suppliers. Essentially all parties involved in the tourism industry in East Africa presented their products and services to an audience of more than 7000 patrons among them trade visitors and members of the public.

Parallel to the exhibition, the KaribuKilifair 2022 expo comes up with a varied of side-show events such as entertainment programs, business “face-face” networking and gave opportunity for diverse speakers from all around the world to speakers to conduct educational and informative seminars during the event to present their organisations, products, or messages.

The trade fair was an excellent opportunity to network and make new contacts with tourism partners of the tourism in Tanzania in addition to learning about local tourist attractions. Dominic Shoo - Director of Killifair Promotion Co. Ltd

These are two events which we merge together, Karibu fair and Killi fair, which makes it a big event, and the purpose is to make sure we serve the tourism industry by bringing all the East African tour operators and others from across the world together as an exhibition and invite the world to come and meet them to buy and to sell the services which are found in East African countries”.

Karibu-Killifair in collaboration with the Tanzanian Government through the Ministry of culture affairs and tourism also offered participants and local and international buyers familiarisation trips to key destinations in the country. The event was the first after the easing down of the global Covid-19 pandemic which had stifled the travel industry worldwide. The travel industry is now slowly, but surely recovering.

The Karibu-Killifair takes place annually, and therefore for the 7th edition of Karibu-Killifair 2023 will be held from June 2-4 again in Arusha at Magereza ground.
