There’s a full calendar of events and activities happening in Darlington over the coming months. May The Darlington Jazz Festival 2 - 6 May The Darlington Jazz Festival, which is now in its seventh year will be held between Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 and Sunday, May 6th 2018 across numerous venues in the town centre including the Dolphin Centre, Quakerhouse, The Keys, Voodoo Café and Joseph Pease Place. Tickets for the Darlington Jazz Festival can be purchased from www.jazzfestival.co.uk
Darlington Dance Festival 19 May 10.30am - 3pm & 20 May 1pm - 2pm The Dance Festival kicks off on Saturday 19 May, with street theatre, ballet dancers and local dance school performances in Joseph Pease place throughout the day. Sunday May 20th at 1pm our dance schools and community groups join together to perform one ‘mass dance’. This year’s dance festival aims to raise awareness of mental health and share how dancing can improve mental health and well being. June Food festival 25 May 10.30am - 7.30pm 26 - 27 May 11am - 7.30pm 28 May 11am - 5pm A great outdoor event to showcase and sell great food and drink in the North East with a full schedule of events and entertainment. The event opens on Friday 25th May with a variety of stalls, demonstrations and music in the Food Court and Marquee. On Saturday 26 May Jean Christophe Novelli, Celebrity Chef for the day, will demonstrate infamous culinary skills. Whilst the ‘Battle of the Burger’ on Sunday will see local chefs compete against each other, culminating with stand-up comedy from Hilarity Bites. Monday will see the Food for Thought Team from Darlington creating dishes from leftover food. Also throughout the weekend there will be lots of street theatre, children’s entertainment and workshops.

Darlington Community Carnival 30 June, 10am - 5pm Darlington Community Carnival is back for 2018 with a range of family entertainment and live music throughout the day. The theme ‘Heroes & Heroines’ is a topic focussing on people who are admired for their courage and outstanding achievements. Join us in and around Darlington Market Place from 9.45am for the best in local dance, music and carnival. Parade sets off at 11am from the Market Place through the town then heading to Stanhope Park where you can spend a family fun day out. Follow @darlingtoncommunitycarnival for information and updates

Proms in the Park 2018 1 July, 3pm South Park Growing in popularity each year! This year promises to be a fantastic day of celebration with music from the Royal Signals (Northern) band, 102 Battalion REM Pipes and Drums and local school choirs. Don’t forget your picnics! INGENUITY Festival of Ingenuity 13 - 14 July, 10am - 4pm Town Centre Darlington Town Centre will once again explode with fun activities and all that is ingenious about the area! This celebration of the engineering heritage of Darlington will feature something for all the family with interactive activities, amazing entertainment and never before seen displays. Last year’s Festival of Ingenuity featured many of our big name companies, including: Cummins. Modus Seabed Intervention, Nifco and Cleveland Bridge to name a few! July Darlington by the Sea 26 July - 28 July, 11am - 5pm Market Square FREE Darlington brings the seaside experience into the town centre. The Sherwoods Vauxhall Darlington 10K is now established as one of the most popular North East 10K events. Ideal for experienced runner’s or first attempt to be part of a local run.
