Established in 1975, MGA has built a solid reputation as one of the top ten brokerages within Australia. With services available for all aspects of business or in the private sector, the Team at MGA will personalize an insurance program to suit anyone’s individual needs and circumstances. The team at MGA Darwin also realize that the testing time for any person that has purchased insurance in any shape or form, is how a claim is managed. The team at MGA will” go into bat” for its clients to ensure that all claims are managed effectively and within adequate time constraints. As online platforms take more shape, there are now many online insurance companies popping up offering low cost insurance. Quite often these policies are inferior and people don’t understand what they are buying and get caught out when it comes to claiming. This is where the team at MGA can come in, who can offer quality advice on products which have the backing of solid Australian Authorized

They also have a strong team of broker assistants willing to go that extra yard. Over the years, MGA has also developed an internal business platform where administrative duties and processing are done elsewhere, so all of their front line team members can be more focused on serving its clients promptly and efficiently. Recently also they have recruited a Workers Compensation Insurance specialist. “The biggest insurance expense for most businesses is in the Workers Compensation space. We extensively market all Workers Compensation accounts to ensure our clients are not paying more than they have to” , Jon said. AFSL # 244601

WHAT: The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave began back in 1998 and today, is one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events! People get sponsored to shave or colour their hair. They look and feel amazing! WHY: More than 12,000 Australians will be diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma this year – equivalent to 31 people every day. Money raised will be used by the Leukaemia Foundation to fund research to beat blood cancer, and provide free emotional and practical support to help Australian families. WHO: More than 150,000 people from all walks of life will shave or colour their hair in 2015. Some will go it alone while others will get a team together. Schools across the country will get involved in ‘Funky Hair Day’ and there are special challenges for sectors like Mining and Energy. WHEN: Most people will shave or colour March 12-15. WHERE: Some organise a private event at home or work while others head to public events listed on worldsgreatestshave.com closer to the time. HOW: Sign up now at worldsgreatestshave. com or 1800 500 088.
HOW IT HELPS
The Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding and relies heavily on the money raised through World’s Greatest Shave to continue its work. • Vision to Cure – Research is making a difference. More than 80% of children survive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia today compared to just 20% a few decades ago. But there is more work to be done, because blood cancer claims a

life every two hours in Australia. That’s why the Leukaemia Foundation invests millions of dollars each year in research to beat blood cancer. • Mission to Care – People with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders, need support. The Leukaemia Foundation provides emotional and practical support, including transport to and from hospital treatment and accommodation for regional families who need to relocate to the city during treatment. All services are provided absolutely free of charge - thanks to your support.
THE IMPACT OF BLOOD CANCER1
• Today, 31 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma – equivalent to more than 12,000 people every year. • Blood cancer and related blood disorders can develop in anyone, of any age, at any time. With few clearly identified risk factors and sometimes no real warning, the impact is immense for the person and their loved ones. • In acute or aggressive cases, the person can require immediate and intensive treatment, often within 24 hours of diagnosis. For those living in regional areas, it means leaving work, school and family and relocating to the city, adding to the shock and emotional turmoil. • Treatment for blood cancer can range

from months, to several years and generally lasts longer than treatment for other cancers. This can have a greater impact on relationships with others, education, career, and financial security. Families can suddenly find themselves in crippling financial circumstances, especially if the person is also the major breadwinner. • Treatment can be life-threatening and life-changing. Temporary side-effects like hair loss are common, but there can also be long-term effects, like being unable to have children later on. • While decades of research have improved survival, sadly, not everyone survives. Blood cancer is the third biggest cause of cancer death in Australia, claiming the lives of more people each year than better-known cancers, like breast cancer and melanoma. As the Leukaemia Foundation’s major fundraiser, World’s Greatest Shave supporters play a vital role in helping us to reduce the impact of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma on Australian families through free services and funding vital research.

Graduate Programs
These programs have been developed to provide the opportunity for professional people, with senior level managerial experience, to gain a formal qualification at a graduate level.
Sejumi Institute has been delivering management programs in Darwin for the past five years. “It is a natural progression to offer a graduate certificate and graduate diploma program to follow the Diploma and Advanced Diplomas that we currently offer in Darwin,” says Julie Edwards, Sejumi’s Director of Education & Training. Sejumi is offering a combination of face-to-face workshops in Darwin together with on-line support. This ‘blended’ format provides students with the opportunity to work with the facilitators and other students with similar goals and interests. When the workshops are completed, not only do the students have the opportunity to access a wealth of online materials, they also have contact with their peers and can form study groups. The program facilitators all have post-graduate qualifications, as well as immense experience in senior management roles; they also have experience as mature students themselves and understand the requirements and commitments of professionals juggling work, home and study. To alleviate some of the stress involved with returning to formal study, Sejumi offers a preparation program where students are taught valuable academic skills such as researching and referencing. Sejumi students do not take end of semester examinations. Instead, they work on projects that may be implemented into the workplace. This practical application enhances the understanding of the topics that are introduced.
Sejumi’s Graduate Programs designed for professionals by professionals
The New Year is upon us and it’s a good time to revisit goals and plan how to achieve them. It’s all very well to have a goal, but we need the plan to make it happen.

The unique mix massage techniques involve both traditional Chinese massage and remedial massage, making it relaxing and restorative. But it is the relaxation of the mind that allows the Unwind team to get beyond the aches and pains, giving their clients a settled experience that will last. ‘In our society, it is a habit to always be mentally multitasking always running with reminders to do this and that. It seems to only get louder when it is time to relax’ explains Patrick. ‘We like for you to come in about 10 minutes prior to your appointment and take a couple of moments to sit, enjoy some complimentary traditional tea and become present in the moment. It is about allowing yourself to be a part of one thing at a time, centered and relaxed.’

s far as mastery of tea is concerned, Patrick is a wealth of knowledge in the subtle practice on all things herbal and traditional. So much so that it is paving the way for future expansion for the Unwind team. Working on a special inclusion of a teahouse in the Parap complex, Patrick plans to help people learn more about the soothing and revitalizing practice of tea drinking. Unwind represents a passion for balance and vitality, which shows in every part of the business. Bringing together elements of holistic healing, Unwind also offers special reflexology treatments that target particular areas of the body to promote recovery and improve functionality. According to Patrick, this holistic approach is an essential in a happy and healthy life. With a service that includes sports/deep tissue massage, acupressure, pregnancy massage and cupping, Unwind has a solution for everyone. Celebrating with the recent opening of the new shop in Karama, the team has a vision to only get better. Now with more locations and a service that never stops developing, there has never been a better time to book in for a massage. For a professional service that goes above and beyond, look no further then Patrick and his team. Open 7 days a week with extended trading hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, Patrick is happy to simply let the signature Unwind culture speak for itself. ‘Try us first, come in and have a 15minute neck and back massage and test our service. We understand that everyone has a different preference to massage. As a team, we are always trying to go that little bit further to tailor our services to our clients as individuals. The Unwind team is forever learning and developing because this is our passion, it is a practice we believe in and take pride in delivering.’

What are the benefits using Antioxidants daily? When it comes to anti-ageing ingredients, the research is abundantly clear: Antioxidants reign supreme. Not only do antioxidants combat the free radical damage that is responsible for the visible (and hidden) signs of ageing, they also enhance the effectiveness of sunscreens in preventing sun damage. Indeed, during the day, the combination of antioxidants plus sun protection is a strong defence against many signs of ageing, including wrinkles, dullness and discolouration. At night, dosing your skin with a range of antioxidants will promote cellular repair and healing. When it comes to treating your skin to antioxidants, remember the old adage: “Strength in numbers”. We stock a multitude of antioxidant cosmeceutical products at Territory Laser Clinic which are formulated with tried-and-true ingredients, and are clinically proven to produce remarkable results!
Why should I include Serums in my skin care routine? Confused by serums? You’re not alone - many wonder what exactly a serum does for skin, as well as what benefit they have versus any other product in your routine. Serums are the anti-ageing superstars of your skin care routine. You should have very high expectations of your serums because they are concentrated with anti-ageing ingredients and more antioxidants than any other product in your routine. Serums won’t replace your daytime or night moisturiser, but they will boost your anti-ageing results and overall skin health when used morning and evening. While you will likely see some improvements right away (as their antioxidant-rich formula soothes redness and brightens skin), over the long term you’ll see signs of damage fade and skin will look and feel healthier and firmer. At Territory Laser Clinic our cosmeceutical grade serums contain many anti-ageing ingredients that are proven effective by independent research.

Cullen Bay Medical Clinic is encouraging people to put their health first in 2015.
W
hether it’s attention for a niggling health issue or a general check-up, the start of the new year is a perfect time to seek help. Practice owner and director Dr Harry Kypreos couldn’t agree more. With a focus on delivering personalised, high-quality care, Cullen Bay Medical Clinic prides itself on building trusted patient relationships to achieve the best in preventative and restorative healthcare. “I take time to listen to my patients, to give them the opportunity to talk and properly explain their situation and concerns, says Dr Kypreos. “I am very passionate about helping people get better, and to avoid getting ill. It’s the best feeling you can have. Cullen Bay Medical Clinic offers a range of health services too, including general practice, travel health, pre-employment medicals, male and female health checks, skincare and skin checks and cosmetic injectables as well as aviation medicine. Conveniently located in Cullen Bay’s Marina Boulevard, patients can avoid the traffic and congestion of the CBD and take advantage of free onsite parking, with spaces for 300 vehicles. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and offers a same day appointment guarantee. The clinic also operates a mobile after hours service from 6pm to midnight seven days, servicing the city and northern suburbs. Providing quality, flexible healthcare is important to Dr Kypreos, who grew up in Darwin and left only to attend university in Adelaide before returning to the Top End to practice as a doctor. With degrees in Pharmacy and Medicine, Dr Kypreos offers patients a wealth of knowledge and specialist areas in aviation healthcare and cosmetic treatments. “Looking good and feeling good are very closely connected, and I found demand for these services in a trusted medical clinic environment, he says. “The cosmetic services are combined with comprehensive skincare including skin checks. Australia has the highest rate of melanoma in the world, and Darwin’s climate puts people at even higher risk. It’s important to have spots and moles checked regularly and my clinic has a surgery onsite to remove or freeze any troublesome spots.
First 100 DarwinLife readers that book in will receive a free skin check. Also any cosmetic patients will receive 5 Units of Botox free if they get 20 Units of Botox or more.
