Palmerston Water Park celebrates its first birthday this June and what better way to celebrate than to put on a fabulous program of events for the upcoming school holidays. Yeni’s face painting will be brightening up kids’ faces, while Hyper the Clown and Trixie the Pixie will keep everyone entertained. Life Be In It will be hosting family fun and games and of course, what’s a party without a jumping castle! Kevin’s Mobile Disco will provide the soundtrack and Wild Thingz Animals will make regular appearances. Of course the biggest attraction at the park is reason enough to get there these holidays – the six line racer water slide. Standing 14 metres high, the slide boasts 6 lanes and a ‘ready, set, go’ system at the top, allowing the toughest of holiday competitions to take place. As you and 5 friends race to the bottom, victory is judged by race placings at the exit and there is even a spectator stand nearby for the fans! Palmerston Water Park is more than just a gigantic amazing slide though. There is a toddlers wet play area with sprays, water curtains and a wading pool, as well as a higher intensity fun zone for teenagers with water cannons and a giant splash bucket. There’s also the skate park right next door if you’ve had enough of the water. There are great facilities, including plenty of shaded areas, a café, and BBQs with a grassy playing area for family picnics and celebrations. Open every day from 8am, with wet play opening at 10am and the water slide at 11am, make sure you add Palmerston Water park to your To Do list this school holidays. FREE ADMISSION!

It’s school holiday time again and there are hours of fun to be had (and not just for the kids) at the YMCA Water Parks at Palmerston and Leanyer.

LEANYER

Leanyer Recreation Park is open 7 days a week during the school holidays with free entry and plenty of activities to keep the kids not only occupied but happy! There are multiple recreational areas, including 3 giant water slides, designated swimming zones and a water playground, as well as a skate park, half basketball court and a dry area playground. The park opens at 8am daily, with water play facilities opening at 10am and the slides kicking into gear at 11am. Aside from the usual park facilities, Leanyer Recreation Park also has a great school holiday program line up. There’ll be face painting, jumping castles and regular entertainment from Trixie the Pixie and Hyper the Clown. Kevin’s Mobile Disco will be pumping out the hottest tunes for that party atmosphere and Life Be In It has plenty of family fun to offer as well. The hardest decisions will be what to do first! Why not make a day of it and enjoy a picnic lunch or early dinner with the family? There are double hot plate BBQ’s on site to use free of charge and plenty of shady areas to sit in and recharge before diving back into the action. Alternatively, for a break from the sun, enjoy a leisurely lunch in the café, overlooking the water and play areas of the park. The café has a great light lunch menu, with hot and cold meals and snacks, as well as cold drinks and the essential coffee machine for that mid morning latte. Open till 8pm, Leanyer Recreation Park is the perfect venue for Top End kids to enjoy the best of our tropical lifestyle with plenty of fresh air, and loads of activities for fun in the sun. Get the most out of the school holiday time this year and come down to Leanyer Water Park.

“It’s given me the chance to be able to be home with my children, to enhance my education, and to be able to conduct a small business. I’ve gone from having no training within the childcare industry to completing my certificate 3 in Children’s Services. I’ve done my diploma and now I’m in my 3rd year of a teaching degree which all started thanks to me being part of the DFDC family.”
