Bennies and Baristas:
A mainstay on the Chicago brunch scene, Yolk has long been known for egg-ceptional (sorry, we had to) eggs Benedicts, omelettes, and pancakes. This summer, though, Yolk is elevating it’s coffee offerings, making it a go-to for a delightful cup o’ joe to go to start your day. As though you needed any more motivation to grab a Yolk breakfast, here are a few more reasons to head there now:
Or cappuccino, or cold brew...whichever coffee beverage strikes your fancy, Yolk is ready to serve you! Yolk locations have upgraded their coffee equipment and now have a full barista menu that includes everything from lattes to macchiatos and everything in between. Looking for a little flavor in your life? Make sure to add one of Yolk’s homemade syrups to your coffee concoction!
You asked, Yolk delivered! Straight from the Yolk Test Kitchen comes two brand new menu items that you need to try. The Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon and the Breakfast Burrito were so popular at the Yolk Test Kitchen that they have been added to the menu! Oh, and they’re both super pretty, so you can rock that #nofilter hashtag when you post it to Instagram.
No one likes waiting first thing in the morning. Skip the wait at Yolk! Make sure to pick up a card from your concierge before you head to brunch! When you present a concierge business card to the Yolk hosts, you’ll get to skip the wait and get priority seating.
You can’t go wrong with a delicious steak and seafood dinner in an amazing locale. For a fabulous fall feast, head over to the iconic (and delicious) Chicago Chop House!
Chop House is known for its robust selection of Linz Heritage Angus beef in a variety of wetand dry-aged cuts; the “Tomahawk” Ribeye and Grand NY Strip are two crowd-pleasers. Not feeling like a steak? Bite into the Chop House Signature Crab Cakes or the Lake Superior White Fish for a light, summertime meal. Accompany your entree with a colorful and flavorful Burrata Salad or the Baby Spinach Salad.
A new cocktail menu at Chicago Chop House offers even more beverage options to complement a sizzling dry- or wet-aged steak or delectable seafood dish! Sip on a refreshing Bellini made with house made peach nectar and sparkling wine or one of their signature martinis like the Key Lime Pie Martini that includes vanilla vodka, fresh lime, RumChata, and cream. There are also four incredible “mock”tails as well if you’re keeping the alcohol consumption to a minimum!
This new taqueria in the West Loop not only has a variety of spit-roasted meats and handmade tortillas that make their tacos unforgettable, they offer enough ingredients to create more than 2000 different specialized margaritas! Don’t forget to try the elote either!
Velvet Taco
Taqueria el Milagro is cafeteria-style, inexpensive, and you get the taco plate with massive pieces of carne asada rather than ordering individual tacos. Their cabbage slaw with the beans and rice are fantastic on the taco too. Oh, and don’t forget the fountain tamarindo juice!
“Xoco! Chef Rick Bayless’s unassuming homage to glorious Mexican street fare is far overshadowed by his pioneering Topolobampo & Frontera Grill, as well as his newer wave of restaurants - Lena Brava, Bar Sotano and his brewery/ taqueria Cruz Blanca - and yet still remains to be the best for a truly amazing gourmet taco. It’s also secretly one of the best breakfasts downtown!”
Velvet Taco is the intersection of Millennials and tacos. Their menu is comprised entirely of nonstandard tacos, from the Spicy Tikka Chicken Taco to the Kobe Bacon Burger Taco to the raw Ahi Poke taco served in a lettuce wrap or a neon pink hard taco shell.

We can’t talk about Chicago without talking about the blues. If you’re ready to relive the glory days of this one-of-a-kind musical genre, look no further than these three blues-filled destinations in the heart of the city.
Kingston Mines
Live blues bands play well into the morning (4 a.m. Su-Thurs and 5 a.m. Sat) at this well-known favorite in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. It’s where you’ll find regular, local favorites like the Joanna Connor Band and Giles Corey playing their weekly sets spread across two separate stages.
In addition to the sounds, Kingston Mines also serves up a full BBQ menu. Order up some St. Louis style pork ribs or a serving of their Down Home Rib Tips. No matter how you dice it, this Chicago blues experience is sure to be one that feeds both body and soul.
Bassment
Find the entrance to this speakeasy-inspired bar in an alley, where upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with street art, exposed brick, and the moody sounds of funk, jazz and of course, blues. You’ll also find a unique menu of craft cocktails, like The Bathtub filled with Tito’s, jalapeño syrup, lemon foam, and a miniature rubber ducky on top.
This indie music venue and bar in Ukranian Village hosts a variety of bands from punk to metal to hip hop and more every night. With a full bar and a fun, friendly vibe, Empty Bottle is a go-to for many who are looking for a great time in a casual environment.
IT’S NOT YOUR MOTHER’S
Live music takes on a new meaning at Howl at the Moon! Sure, there are two pianos but let’s not forget about the guitarists, drummers, and even violinists who round out the talented band nightly. Hear up-to-theminute jams and request your old favorites - the choice is yours!
Eat and drink til your heart’s content with Howl at the Moon’s bucket cocktails and a full kitchen until midnight. Satisfy your whole group by ordering up a Pink Paradise or a Prickly Pear Marg bucket (seriously, it’s 86 oz of goodness) along with some pizzas, wings, or sliders. Don’t want to share? The cocktail menu can’t be beat - try the Howlin’ Mule or the Electric Mule.
