Did you used to work for Cummins or Fords? The Daventry & District Forum have learnt of funding available from Cummins and Fords, as a DDF member and a previous employee of these companies there is the potential for us to apply for funding to help with future public events. We wouldn’t need much information, just your name and a rough idea of when you worked there. If anyone could help us please could you call Emma Parry at Daventry District Council on 01327 871100 or by email eparry@daventrydc.gov.uk

Bowls where you are My name is Ian Litchfield and I have been visiting local groups around the area to demonstrate a variation on the traditional game of bowls and golf which can be played BY ALL AGES AND ABILITIES in just a couple of meters of space where people live and groups meet.

I have personally used Bowls to help me recover from the head injuries I suffered from a serious car crash many years ago. This gives me a different perspective of bowls from traditional bowlers and I have found people of all ages and abilities (Northampton Area Youth Clubs) to residents of nursing homes excited by the games I have developed and make available during my visits.
"Big thanks for inviting us to the Tea Dance, we all enjoyed the afternoon. Many thanks again for thinking of us." The Cube Disability
In return for a cup of tea, I would be delighted to come and present to your local group to demonstrate and provide something different for your group to have a go at.

My biggest learning through my health problems was that if you do not try a sport in your life, you could miss out on enjoying the challenge and the social side which is why I enjoy the pleasure which everyone has when I visit and let them play my various games. Greetings from Gloria Dear Members, As the snowdrops nod in my garden and we have brief spells of milder weather like many members my spirits are uplifted by thoughts of spring, warmer days and decreased heating expense. Nevertheless throughout the winter DDF Management with the excellent guidance of Emma Parry has continued to positively progress and we have formed new strong partnerships with plans to address
the Health and Wellbeing in rural areas of Daventry District. We have successfully secured funding of £500 from Futures Housing with the kind help and support of Sarah Sims, this funding will be used to address rural communities in the Well for Life Roadshows working together with First for Wellbeing and Northamptonshire Acre, who has secured lottery funding to address rural wellbeing across the disparate communities.
Our next Public Forum event will be at Moulton on March 22nd, funded by ROSPA, another important development in our progressive DDF work and partnership working with NCC’s Falls Prevention Team. This work, like all our work is preventative, I know from experience that old bones don’t bounce well and that the risks of falling are ever increasing and more dangerous as we age. We are much encouraged by the support that we have been given by organisations at ground level in the local communities. It is crucial that we work with local contacts especially the Parish Councils as we endeavour to roll out information and signposted support to rural areas. Residents within local communities are the key players in respect of identifying and supporting isolated and lonely elderly people and carers. Most of us are aware of the shortfalls in funding and the ever increasing numbers of elderly people. Whilst DDF works on a shoestring in respect of funding our aim is to increase membership so that we can continue to provide information through newsletters and events. In conclusion I, Emma, and the Management Committee continually strive to proactively increase membership and help address the needs of the over fifties across Daventry District. Well done everyone! Kindest Regards
