Old Hall Farm has provided the Sandgate Farmers' Market with high quality, traditionally reared meat, eggs and sausages almost since the beginning and now they are branching out into fruit and vegetables. You'll not find any oranges or bananas on the Marsh Produce stall as they will only sell what can be sourced locally - mainly in Kent but occasionally further afield. Please support this new initiative and help them build a product range that meets your needs.

Nice Enough to Eat Flowers, plants and presents for the gardener Wonderful, original gifts for any time of the year

It's not all Knittering and Nattering ‘Knit for Peace’ is a Charities Advisory Trust initiative which grew out of projects in Rwanda and India to bring together groups of women from diverse backgrounds to knit for street children and orphans. The belief being that knitting is good for you, it's fun, therapeutic and is something that can be done to a very old age. The Sandgate Knit and Natter group has been meeting now for some eight or nine years, twice a month in Sandgate Library. Started initially to help keep this important village resource open, the knit and natter group has a modest, but lively membership of like minded women (we would very much welcome any male knitters who’d like to join us!) who meet to do exactly what our name suggests, knit and natter. And we don't just talk about tv or our grandchildren, we talk a lot about what's going on in the village, the arts, the world and we knit at the same time. Often we knit for ourselves but a lot of us also knit for charity and donate to Knit for Peace. We make anything from unstuffed teddies (they are stuffed at their destination country), to children's or adults jumpers or socks, hats, scarves and twiddlemuffs. If you don't know what a twiddlemuff is why not come and join us to find out? Knit for Peace then distributes our items to where they are most needed and always, without fail, write to acknowledge our contributions. Today I am preparing a parcel of 28 items to send off and I know our time and effort will be appreciated. The Knit and Natter group meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, in Sandgate Library from 10 a.m. to about noon. New members are always welcome and you don't have to knit, you can crochet as well. 6

!

New York, 1959. Max Bialystock was once the king of Broadway, but now all his shows close on opening night. Things turn around when he's visited by the neurotic accountant Leo Bloom, who proposes a scheme tailor-made for producers who can only make flops: raise far more money than you need, then make sure the show is despised. No one will be interested in it, so you can pocket the surplus. To this end, they produce a musical called Springtime for Hitler written by escaped Nazi Franz Liebken. Then they get the insanely flamboyant Roger De Bris to direct. Finally, they hire as a lead actress the loopy Swedish bombshell Ulla (whose last name has over 15 syllables).

One Man, Two Guvnors’

An Amateur Production by kind permission of Samuel French Co Ltd

Written by Richard Bean Directed by Pete Raine and Fanny Richmond

The Folkestone - Hythe, Operatic & Dramatic Society

Presents

Another sparkling play for 2016. The Folkestone-Hythe operatic & Dramatic Society present outstanding comedy One Man, Two Guvnors at the Tower Theatre. Thought to be by many to be one of the funniest plays of the last few years. In 1960s Brighton, a socially naive Francis Henshall becomes separately employed by two men – Roscoe Crabbe, a local gangster, and Stanley Stubbers, an upper class criminal. Francis tries to keep the two from meeting, in order to avoid each of them learning that Francis is also working for someone else. However, it turns out that Roscoe is really Rachel Crabbe in disguise, her twin brother Roscoe having been killed by her lover, who is none other than Stanley Stubbers. Mixed in with these chaotic events is Pauline Clench who was originally meant to marry Roscoe but is now set to elope with over-the-top amateur actor Alan Dangle. The play runs from Wednesday 2nd November to Saturday 5th. Start time 7.30 p.m. with a matinee on 5th November at 2.30 p.m. Tickets prices: £11.00 Full £10.00 Concessions £7.00 U14's
