2016 NATIONAL TALENT CHAMPIONSHIPS IDENTIFIED AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT FEEDBACK FOCUSES ON THE FOUR KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME BP: • CREATING THE RIGHT MOMENT TO PASS OR CARRY FORWARD • POSITIONAL AND REPOSITIONAL PLAY • CREATING SCORING CHANCES • CONVERTING SCORING CHANCES • MENTALITY (EMBRACING MISTAKES AND PLAYING POSITIVELY) BPO-BP: • PERCEPTION AND DECISION MAKING • QUICK FORWARD MOVEMENT AND PASSING • CREATING RIGHT MOMENT FOR KILLER PASS • DECISION MAKING AND EXECUTION BPO: • PERCEPTION AND DECISION MAKING • WIN THE BALL BACK ASAP • POSITIONAL AND REPOSITIONAL PLAY BP-BPO: • PERCEPTION AND DECISION MAKING • EXECUTION • WIN THE BALL BACK ASAP

NTC PLAYING STYLE & CULTURE ‘winning isn’t everything, wanting to win is’ Trainings purpose is to enhance each player’s decision making ability during game play, as well as outside game play. Its is about developing people not just better players. Players are required to take ownership of their own sporting performance and also the team’s. The Playing Style is underpinned by a strong ‘team mentality’, capitalising on Australia’s traditional strengths of hard work, commitment and honesty.

Queensland’s (QLD) culture of teamwork, resilience and dealing with pressure are key to the states success and help QLD players to operate independently, a skill they will need to be successful at the elite level.

Based on quality passing, possession and building play through the three-thirds of the field, It’s a very energetic style, with a focus on acting rather than reacting, even if the opposition is in possession.

NTC PLAYING STYLE BP:  A proactive brand of football based on effective possession with creative combination play and a cutting edge provided by innovative individuals who are match winners.  A strong emphasis is placed on a flat passing game, so essentially a departure from using a lot of long balls, with a constant attacking mentality.  The aim is to get into the opponents danger zone fast, with precise through-passes played at a very high tempo when the moment has been created. The goal is to generate positional superiority behind the opponent.

BP-BPO:  An immediate transition between attack and defence focusing on quick forward passing and movement to make the field large when possession is won.

NTC PLAYING STYLE BPO:  Defensively the key components are quick transitions, tenacious work against the ball and intelligent collective pressing.  When the opponent is strong and has maintained the ball, the team and player/s need to move the opponent into areas on the field where they cannot hurt the team.  A solid & compact defensive block will deny opponents the desired space in areas in scoring zone. The style enables a player and the team to counter-attack quickly.

BPO-BP:  Pressing the ball immediately when possession is lost, limiting opponents ability to pass forward so if we do not win the ball back quickly then we should deny our opponents the space and time to think.

NTC PLAYING STYLE The Team models Key Principles in the four main moments, underpinning the Playing Style BP

BP1. Initiation Phase create time and space to progress to the middle third BP2. Controlled possession phase BP3. Individual Skill and Combination Play Phase BP4. Set Pieces
