A Message from Namibia During our first term in Namibia we served with a local man named Asser Kavetu and planted a church in the North of the country. Today Asser pastors the church and we look forward to working alongside him again. The following is a letter from Asser to you:

Hello my brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord,

David & Sandy with Asser in 2002

I am Asser Kavetu and I am preaching the Good News at the Kunene River, [in the village of] Otjimuhaka in Namibia. I am married to Dancy Namutenya (Effraim) Kavetu. We have two children; a son, Rukarerera, and a daughter, Unondaya. God has given us a heart for the lost. God has called us to work among our own people so that one day they will say “Jesus, our Savior!” These are people not yet believing in the Lord. My wife and I will stay in the field to bring souls to Salvation. I am planting a church here and I want you, my friends, to pray with us. This is a dark place where people are involved in alcohol abuse, immoralities, and witchcraft. Especially the young people. This church is between two nations, Angola and Namibia, people from both sides are coming and we believe we will be one nation of God. God bless you as you are praying for us.

THE IN-BETWEEN TIME

O

ur team mates, Adam and Sara, are expecting a baby; their daughter is due to be born any day now. In fact, by the time you read this she may already be here. Adam and Sara have been waiting for the last eight and a half months and are now almost at the end of their inbetween time. David and I are also in an inbetween time, the time between finishing college and moving to Namibia to be full-time missionaries. It has been difficult at times to live in the present as our hearts long to be doing the ministry we have prepared for. Yet, in those days we remember Psalm 37:5 which tells us to trust in God and commit our ways to Him and He will bring them to pass. Also, James 4:13-15, where James reminds us not to spend our time boasting about the future, but to realize that everything we plan on doing depends on the will of God.

there, I can’t help but realize that they are also stuck in an in-between time. In Romans chapter eight we read about creation groaning as it waits for Christ to be revealed and about the sonship that Christians inherit. The lost are waiting for the gospel and are waiting to be included in the family of God. Please take a moment and pray for the people of Namibia who do not know Jesus Christ and for us as we prepare to go and minister to them. MISSIONS EMPHASIS WEEK

O

ctober 5-9 was Central Christian College of the Bible’s annual Mission Emphasis Week. This year we were invited to participate as guest speakers. This included taking part in a missionary panel, hosting a booth at a world bazaar, bringing the message at one of the main sessions, and presenting our mission to various classes. It was a great opportunity!

Support Progress Since our last newsletter, we have received commitments from a few more individuals. It is always so encouraging when people we know make these commitments and stand with us. Thank you all so much for getting behind us and helping us reach the lost of Namibia with the Gospel!
