April-June 2015

NEW TERRITORY Young & Pregnant In June, Sandy began a new ministry for young pregnant ladies in Katutura. Her and our partners at Beautiful Kidz have been walking with 8 girls between the ages of 15 and 23. Each week the ladies teach a pre-natal class on Mondays, educating them on pregnancy and early child care, as well as on the biblical value of children. Then on Wednesdays they do an activity together to help the girls get excited about the new life that is coming. So far they have done a pregnancy photo shoot, made personalized bibs for the babies, and thrown baby showers. Most importantly, they have set out to encourage these young girls, showing them that they have worth and that their babies are a blessing.

Outreach It has been an exciting few months with our young adult Thrive Community as the Lord continues to work and use this group to dig deeper into each other's lives. We have recognized that over the past two and a half years, we have focused mostly on community and discipleship. This focus is easily seen in the group as they become more like family and as they continue to grow closer to Christ. Now, it is time to build on this foundation with a new focus. It is time for the group to look outward and begin pursuing outreach. Moving forward these young men and women are planning ways that they can reach their community with the Love of God.

Sonder Water Sonder Water is a small community nearby our neighborhood in Katutura. The poeple of Sonder Water (Literally means, "Without Water") are living in the most impoverished conditions in Katutura. The area was originally a trash dump until the residents moved in, creating a small and distinct neighborhood of shacks and makeshift homes. This is completely new territory for us in a geographical sense as well as in terms of ministry. This month we began a new development work here, spending our time meeting with residents, building relationships and conducting surveys to determine what gifts and abilities God has gifted them with. The response so far has been overwhelming and we cannot wait to se what God does in the lives of these individuals.

Thanks for your prayers and support, David, Sandy, Reese & Avi Echols
