Prayer Needs Pray for wisdom & guidance Here’s the latest news from David and Sandy Echols April-June 2013
Cindy Naris (06/26/98—5/11/13) On May 11th two of our kids from Community Hope School were in a bad car accident. Cindy, age 14, was killed and her sister Jasmine, 13, survived but spent the next several days in a coma. Their mother was killed as well. Jasmine is still recovering and having trouble remembering anything that happened. Please pray for her and her younger sister Harigos (7).
Pray for workers to come join us in Namibia Pray for our work permit renewals Pray for Hope Club’s “Core” (see paragraph to the left) Pray for healing and comfort for David & Sandy
Cindy was perhaps the most gifted student to go through the school and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Special Dates Hope for the Hopeless Hope Club, our ministry to young adults, has had its ups and downs. Without question, this is a tough group. They have not had the same Christian foundation laid as some of the others we work with. They can be inconsistent; at times very Our Hope Club friends at our place for a braai (BBQ) passionate and at others just apathetic, but they are a group with a lot of potential. We have recently had four make a special commitment to the group, we’re calling them the “Core” of Hope Club. We want the community to own the group and think this is a good start. We are very excited to see what they can do! To keep up o date, keep an eye on our blog: davidandsandyechols.blogspot.com. Support
Raven We had our guest from Central Christian College of the Bible in March. Raven Woods joined us for ten days of ministry, including a leadership camp for Community Hope School’s seventh graders.
Raven teaching at our leadership camp
This was Raven’s second time visiting us here and she showed us again that she has the heart and makings of a great missionary. Pray for her as she finishes her studies and plans to join us in the future.
Discipleship Training We also led a Discipleship Training School outreach for two weeks in April. This school was made up of 8 students from around the world. They joined Three Measures and helped us with visiting homes around Katutura. We enjoyed our time with the students and are looking forward to seeing what fruit comes out of their time with us. Permit Update We finally heard back about our work permits and the answer is (drum roll)… they lost our application. So, we have now resubmitted everything. Please pray for this to come through quickly.
Family We have some really heartbreaking news. In February we found out that Sandy was pregnant again and were very excited about another addition to our family. Then, in April we found out that we had a miscarriage. This loss has been very difficult; please keep us in your prayers. We have also been comforted by many of your messages, thank you.
Last time we asked you to pray for us as we applied for support from a church in Missouri. Just to update you, we did not get the support, but continue to build on the relationship with them. Thanks for the prayers. We have received a bit more monthly support since we last wrote. We are so thankful to all of you who support this ministry! We still feel good about hitting our target amount this year, which is important now that we have our own ministry this year. We are really praying to find churches and individuals who can help us reach 100%. So, to sum up our current support situation, we are currently $780 monthly short of our 2013 budget. Please consider joining the work of Three Measures here in Namibia. If you would like to help us get back up to budget return the included response card or contact us at: support@davidandsandy.org.
