Here’s the latest news from David and Sandy Echols August-October 2010 st

November 1 will mark six months in Namibia. In some ways it is surprising that six months have gone by so quickly; in others, it seems like Namibia has been home for a lot longer. All in all, things are going really well for us, we both love living here & the opportunities for ministry are endless. We’ve been very busy since we’ve been here. In addition to teaching classes and visiting homes, we’ve started a

build some strong relationships with many of our students. In the last few months we have also made two trips to the north of the country to visit Asser and the church of Otjimuhaka. In August we had our first visitor, Don Stoll, from Columbia, MO. He was a mentor to us through our college years & it was very encouraging to have him here. Now, things are beginning to change a bit. Since the Wrights have arrived, we have turned the tutoring over to Adam. We are still teaching our classes & overseeing the home visits, but we are also taking on some more

administrative roles. David has been asked to take over the head administrator position and Sandy is going to be handling all the work with home affairs (visas, etc). She will also be doing a lot more teaching as of January. In addition to this, we have been invited to join the school’s leadership team. As our influence at the school grows, please pray that our influence in the lives of those around us will grow as well. With His Love,

HOPE Hope is that one thing that can cause one to soar over mere mortals, it makes you feel invincible, hope makes you smile through this life’s most crushing disappointments. Hope is intoxicating. Hope on this earth is fickle too though, like a mad hatter hope can make your head spin. When hope is disappointed we are reminded that we are mortal, we are reminded that we cannot fly, and that even though we have hope, we still live on planet earth, a hopeless broken and evil place. Hope in things that are fleeting is an almost pointless venture. In the last six months I have seen the look of disappointed hope on the faces of our kids. There are kids who hope for love on

this earth, but are beaten up by life and forgotten instead. We have also tasted the gal of disappointed hope. Yet, as Christians we know of a divine hope that will never be disappointed. That Hope is Jesus Christ. In Matthew 12:21 we read that it is in the name of Jesus Christ that gentiles will hope, that nations will hope, that the people of Namibia will hope. As a supporter and someone who prays for us, and for Namibia, you are an integral part of the Hope that is Christ reaching the hopeless people here. God has a plan of Hope for his place, and all of us working together as a team can see that plan come to pass! -SE

Support Progress Before leaving the U.S., we set our budget for living and working in Namibia at $3,000 per month. It was also decided that we could depart once we reached our minimum goal of $2,500. We have found that this budget is enough for our basic needs, minus some ministry and project funds. Unfortunately, we have had some supporters who are unable to continue in their committed amounts, taking us a little bit below our minimum budget. On top of this, we have seen a steady drop in the exchange rate. If you would like to help us get back up to budget, please return the included response card or contact us at support@davidandsandy.org. Budget  Personal (including food, housing, etc)……….$1,450  Ministry………………$1,100  Benefits (Health Insurance, Savings)………………….$300  Administration……….$150 Total Monthly Need $3,000 -Current Monthly Raised $2,400

Total Remaining Need $600
