Prayer Needs

PROGRESS The past few months have been very full for us at 3 Measures and I am happy to report some exciting progress in most of our ministries.

Thrive On August 14th two more from our Young Adult Thrive gave their lives to Christ and were baptized! Given has been a part of our group from the start and Imms has been a part of things for a bit over a year. We could not have been any happier when they finally made their decisions.

 We need someone to commit to one year to help as we explore our visa options (see back page)  Work Permit/Future work in Namibia  Spiritual growth for the members of our Thrive communities

Also last month two of our teammates, Nathan and Immanuel, began a new Imms (L) & Given (R) giving their lives to the Lord Thrive Community for people of all ages. It is a very new group and they are still trying to find their identity, please pray for them as they attempt to discover and establish real community.

Restoration Seminars

David with Asser Kavetu. Asser is a good friend and the pastor of the church in Otjimuhaka that David & Sandy were a part of planting in 2002-03.

Earlier in September Raylin, Immanuel, Nathan & David travelled to Opuwo (about an 8 hour drive north of Windhoek) to begin preparations for our first Restoration Seminar; a week long course for rural pastors among the unreached Himba tribe. In this seminar we will focus on teaching the basics on how to read, understand & apply the Bible. We had great weekend, meeting with pastors and old friends. We are still working out the details, but plan to run the first seminar late in January.

Young & Pregnant/Young Mothers Sandy and the others recently finished up another Young & Pregnant course. Last week they kicked off another Young Mothers Training with a cake decorating class. Sixteen mothers attended; some were new faces, others had previously attended Young & Pregnant. This time Sandy will lead a weekly Bible as part of the course. Hopefully it can develop into an ongoing Thrive community afterwards. Please pray for Sandy and the mothers as they begin these studies on October 10th.

Baby Kiara & Co. In August, Kiara (the daughter of one of the girls who attended the first Young & Pregnant class) was badly burned in an accident involving a kettle full of boiling water. Sandy spent the following months visiting Kiara & her mother, as well as getting to know the other babies in the pediatric ward of the Katutura hospital. A number of generous individuals in the States and Namibia contributed to care packages that she was able to provide these families who were in need of some physical and emotional support. She built some strong relationships in this time and continues to be an influence in their lives. Thank you to all who gave and helped us show Christ's love in difficult times.

Training On top of the usual programs, we started Wednesday evening training sessions in July. The topics covered vary; so far we have done sign language classes and a short photography course. Next week we begin a much longer course teaching graphic and web design.

CHE We have some unfortunate news here. We have found that those we have on our CHE Training Team simply cannot commit the necessary time to a CHE program right now. Between that & the uncertainty around our work permits, we've decided to put that on hold until the future is more clear. Please pray for clarity and more workers to the harvest!

Still Looking For Help! We are currently looking for someone to come to Namibia next year to fill in while we are in the States working out our Namibian permits. We are hoping and praying for God to raise someone up to commit to one year here in Namibia. Please pray for us to find this help that we need, spread the word to those you know about this need/opportunity and consider whether or not God is challenging you to be this person.

Thanks for your prayers and support, David, Sandy, Reese & Avi Echols

Support Thank you so much to all of you who support our work here in Namibia! In our last newsletter we were able to share that we reached 100% of our budget. That includes ministry funds, admin costs and keeping the Echols in Namibia. This marked the first time we've reached full support since entering Namibia in 2010. We will however

need to increase this budget again, as we have added school fees and an increase in rent. In January we started paying $300 per month for Reese's school fees and in March we moved into a house that costs about $800 per month. We have made a number of budget cuts to make this possible for the time being. We will evaluate our new budget in a few months, then let you all know how much of an increase will truly be necessary. As for now, we continue to thank the Lord for all of you who have invested in God's work in Namibia! If you would like to join the work of Three Measures in Namibia through a monthly commitment or one-time gift, simply go to www.3measur.es/donate OR return the included response card OR contact us at support@3measur.es.
