RESULTS The results of this study illustrate a series of geographic comparisons on how the city of St. Augustine has evolved throughout a set of time frames. These comparisons show a significant change in land use, from a reduction of natural environments in replacement with urban city expansion, to a prevalent effort of respecting historical infrastructure. The georeferenced aerial photography’s of St. Augustine presented a minimum RMS error value below 15 meters; surprisingly, the 1943 and 1993 images had a higher value of 13 meters in comparison with the 1960 image which had a total RMS error value of meters 2. The digitization of the historic district in St. Augustine showcased a series of elements ranging from, roads, railways, bridges, landmarks and buildings that have been preserved throughout all the time frames presented.

Aerial photography of St. Johns county collected between 1942 to 1993 from the University of Florida’s George A. Smathers Libraries. Filtering of aerial photography’s based on significant changes and showcasing a clear depiction and growth within the city of St. Augustine. Create a georeferenced raster image for each selected time frame, defining its individual lo-cations using map coordinates and assigning the NAD 83 UTM Zone 17 coordinate system for the state of Florida. Analyze the georeferenced raster images by time frame, highlighting and comparing the ma-jor changes occurring within the city. Digitize the historically preserved aspects of the city that have played a vital role in its development.

RESULTS

The results of this study illustrate a series of geographic compa on how the city of St. Augustine has evolved throughout a set o frames. These comparisons show a significant change in land use a reduction of natural environments in replacement with urba expansion, to a prevalent effort of respecting historical infrastru The georeferenced aerial photography’s of St. Augustine pres a minimum RMS error value below 15 meters; surprisingly, the 194 1993 images had a higher value of 13 meters in comparison with th image which had a total RMS error value of meters 2. The digitization of the historic district in St. Augustine show a series of elements ranging from, roads, railways, bridges, land and buildings that have been preserved throughout all the time f presented.
