TIMETABLE FOR HEARINGS KCDC has provided the following information concerning the timetable for the Proposed District plan process.  Hearings are expected to begin around July 2013, but exact timing will be decided once submissions and further submissions have been received and submitters have indicated whether they wish to speak to their submissions. it will depend on the number of submissions and how many of the submitters wish to speak at the hearings. Hearings on the 1999 District Plan took about 6 months. We expect hearings to take at least a few months this time, but some topics may be heard (and decisions made) in advance of others. The sequencing and timing of topic-based hearings will be determined once submissions and further submissions have been received. Commissioners will be appointed once submissions and further submissions have been received, to ensure that commissioner availability and expertise matches what is required. This will probably occur around May 2013.  Recommendations will be made once hearings are completed, deliberations have occurred, and the commissioners have drafted their recommendations. This could happen within a month of the completion of a hearing but it could take longer.  Decisions on commissioners’ recommendations will then be made by the Council’s Regulatory Management Committee. Some decisions may be made soon after recommendations are received, while others may occur later so that they can be coordinated with decisions on related but separate matters heard by a different hearing panel.
