WTF!?!? Tidbits In case you haven’t heard, Kristen Stewart was snapped by paparazzi

cheating on her boyfriend, fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson, with 41-year-old Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who is married with two young children. After the photos were published in Us Weekly, Kristen issued the following public apology: “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.” I have to give it to her: what she lacks in on-screen acting skills she makes up for with her ridiculously overdramatic apology. But honestly, if you’re going to be a homewrecker, at least own it. I’d have respected her a lot more if she’d just come out and said, “Yeah, I let him go down on me, what of it?”

Jungle Plans for Massive Renovation in Busy Month

ungle Club Atlanta is one of the biggest gay clubs in Atlanta, and with a recently announced set of renovations, the club is slated to be even bigger. Over a six-week period littered with events, the club will make significant changes in its structure. “We’re going to be tearing out a lot of the non-public spaces in the front, and turning those into public spaces,” says owner Richard Cherskov. “We’ll be changing the entryway of the club, so you’ll be entering from a different door. We’re going to create a different room in the front with its own bar and stage, so that we can have a separate experience that’s going on other than the big dancehall in the back.” The construction period falls during a busy time for the club. August’s event lineup includes a number of highprofile DJs, starting with Tracy Young on August 4. “Last year was one of our busiest nights of the year [when Young last appeared]. She always brings a really good party when she comes to spin. We’re really excited to have her back,” says Cherskov. Later appearances in the month include the

return of DJ Manny Lehman on August 18, as well as DJ Power Infiniti and Debby Holiday at the after-party for Rainbow Days at Six Flags on August 25. With several major events occurring during the construction period, event attendees will be able to see the club’s transformation. Cherskov is hopeful that construction won’t impact the events too significantly. “It’s business as usual for us, but in the middle of that, we’re going to be ripping out walls, building new bars, and changing everything up. “It’s definitely going to have an impact. We’re going to try to minimize it, obviously, but I also think it’s part of the fun of going through the changes over the next six weeks of people coming in and seeing something a little bit different until the remodel’s done.” Even as the club gets ready for what will undoubtedly be a tumultuous period, though, Cherskov is eager for the change. “We’re very excited. They’ve been a long time coming. I would say that Atlanta’s ready to see some positive changes in the nightlife scene, and they’re ready for a new space, and they’re ready for the new parties and the new things that we’re going to bring to the scene.” david atlanta | 15

Rocco started rapping in 2002 and just released his 4th full length album, Second Hand Emotion. Written entirely last summer after a devastating cross-country move where Rocco found out his girlfriend was cheating and lying, Rocco borrowed the title from Tina Turner’s smash hit “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” and created an “emotionally honest, open and vulnerable” album that “deals with love, love-lost, betrayal, lust and infatuation.” Rocco is no stranger to Atlanta having performed at MondoHomo a few years ago. The self-confessed incredibly social performer hopes to get out to the ATL sometime this year but in the meantime you can check out videos for two tracks from his latest album on Rocco’s website. You remember when music videos actually had a message and artistic value.” With a major video for “Lone Ranger” in the works, KIN4LIFE is gearing up for the release of their new single “It’s Over Now,” which is now available on iTunes. t may be tough to pinpoint a pioneer for the LGBTQ Hip-Hop movement but Deadlee was definitely integral to its beginning stages. Deadlee’s live shows, which featured go-go boys and drag queens, caught people’s attention in LA and his “new twist on hip-hop” eventually scored him international coverage and spots on Howard Stern, CNN and The Tyra Banks Show. In 2002, Deadlee released his first album Seven Deadlee Sins, and followed it up four years later with Assualt with a Deadlee Weapon. While it’s been six years since his last album, Deadlee has been no stranger to the entertainment industry. “Music wasn’t fun anymore and I felt more love on movie sets,” Deadlee shared. His interests shifted to film and Deadlee can be seen in the cult favorite Hoochie Mamma Drama and such films as Vengeance, Dead Men Walking and most recently starring in 2011’s Rampart with Woody Harrelson and Ice Cube. But don’t count Deadlee out from the hip-hop game. “I know there is still one more CD in me,” he admitted. a Brat, Snoop Dogg, James Brown and Heidi Fleiss are just a few from a long list of influences that have inspired JenRO. And the list should be long because the Bay-Area rapper has been in the game for over a decade.

In that time, JenRO has launched her own successful entertainment label RO Records, been involved in films and worked with her community to help effect change. That doesn’t come easy when you’re a female emcee but a lesbian as well but it’s her “I don’t give a shhh*” attitude, which she’s had from an early age, that has helped her stand out. “I’ve created results and built a wide, diverse audience that proves it doesn’t matter if I’m a woman or I’m gay,” JenRO boasted. “One of my favorite sayings is ‘life is like film, we create positives from the negatives’,” JenRO shared. A saying that is reflected on at least one track on her upcoming album Street Light. “Mona Lisa” is a personal track that chronicles JenRO’s early life on a “rough path” and how she “painted a new one with her music.” Key Tracks: “Closet” is a personal reflection about coming out and “Eclipse” is a song JenRO wrote after her best friend passed away from drugs at a young age.

Crazy Bitch Bingo Goes for Green (Cards)

tlanta diners looking for some entertainment with their meals have received that with Crazy Bitch Bingo, the gay Atlanta mainstay that combines the traditional bingo game with pop culture and catty commentary. On August 9, Crazy Bitch Bingo will be teaming up with Las Margaritas to produce a special version of the event: Crazy Bitch Bingo – Green Cards and Giveaways. This particular version of Crazy Bitch Bingo serves as a benefit, with all of the evening’s proceeds going to AID Atlanta. With the evening’s game play, owner Bryen Christopher is planning special additions to the normal game structure. “We’re going to have a couple of new challenges in there that we haven’t done before. We should be rolling out about six new Kinky Karaoke songs, which will give us about 30 songs. It’s funny, everybody always picks the same songs, but there are actually 30 songs available. I don’t know why.” Special door prizes for the night come from a number of gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses in Atlanta, including a party package from Las Margaritas, gift cards, and bar tabs. As for the event’s name, Christopher credits it to the nature of the game, as well as the event’s location. “It has to be offensive. We have to pick a name that’s kinda goofy.” Crazy Bitch Bingo has been a gay Atlanta mainstay since it launched in 2007. Currently, the game operates at Joe’s on Juniper Wednesday nights and Las Margaritas Thursday nights. Christopher is also looking to expand the game’s reach. “I’ve done the game for weddings, I’ve done the game for several Fortune 100 companies, and I’ve done it in several states. We’re actually looking at a franchise deal right

It’s all joking and humor. We want everyone to forget about their jobs and stresses, and life, and just come and have a good time.”

taying true to the game is an important facet of hip-hop and everyone’s truth is different. For TreZure aka Widow, part of her truth was coming to terms with her sexuality. In 2005, TreZure walked away from the hip-hop game. “I was coming out as a lesbian and with all that I was going through, just the adjustment to that change, made it hard for me to concentrate on music,” TreZure confessed. After that five year sabbatical, TreZure came back to the game with her most personal work to date. 2010’s My Emancipation found TreZure celebrating her newfound truth not pulling any punches with the title track, announcing her arrival back in the game with “I’m Here” and the sexy ladies anthem “Again”. TreZure was recently nominated for two Hip-Hop female of the Year awards from the Carolina Music Awards and Queen City Awards but that hasn’t stopped her from pursuing bigger goals. She’s currently working on new music with a hopeful September date but she’s not sure whether she’ll release it as only a mixtape or a full-fledged album. Montreea, whose name means faithful, is now following a larger calling with gospel performances. “[I] love God more than hip-hop and it’s evident in my career now,” she shared. “My main focus is strengthening my ministry so I can help people that are one emotion away from jumping off a building. The world doesn’t need any more exhibitionists. It needs more people that care about others.” During a candid interview for Mic, Montreea stated that she was an artist above all else. ipparchie opens his latest album with the self-affirming “Love Myself,” a track whose verses compel the listener to pay attention and chorus compels you to run to a dance floor. It’s a great start to a new chapter in his artistry.

Ripparachie started writing his own music when he was 11 years old. Even though by the age of 14 he had opened up for hip-hop heavy hitter Too $hort, he knew he would have to blaze his own path. “I decided to not follow every trend,” Ripparachie explained. “I stepped away from the normal topics in the ‘rap game’ and decided to rap about more serious issues that matter to me.” One of those issues happened to be accepting his sexuality. Prior to coming out, Ripparachie feared being called a fag. To face his fear, Ripparachie decided to deconstruct the word. “When I call myself a ‘fag’, I am actually saying I am a ‘Fly Ass Guy,” Ripparachie shared. Once Ripparachie was free from that fear, F.A.G (Free and Genuine) was born. The album tackles discrimination, bullying, self-acceptance and love and is available now. Probably nothing but these are the influences that the Illuminati Princess counts as inspirations. “I’ve always had this utter adoration for any artist who shakes up the industry and plays by their own rules,” he shared. Hailing from Nashville (yes, you read that correctly), Gregory Grey is no stranger to pushing boundaries. “I already expected to encounter a lot of negativity simply for being a gay white rapper from Tennessee, so I thought to myself why not take it a step further.” Forget a step, Grey made a leap. If you look at the outfits and call them costumes, think again. This is how Gregory Grey lives his life. It’s how he feels most comfortable. They’re all a part of his truth and he brings that to his music. “My musical tastes have always been all over the place but there is such a freedom that comes with hip-hop,” Grey explained of his genre choice. Grey has already released two tracks “Stay on My Grind” and “Bow Down” to demonstrate his commitment as an artist. P’cheen: Great for Dining, Drinking, and Decompressing by Clayton Morey

t the center of the newly thriving Old Fourth Ward (and only steps from what will undoubtedly be the hottest stop on the much anticipated Atlanta Belt Line) this one part neighborhood pub, one part lounge is sure to become a fixture of the Atlanta dining and nightlife scene for years to come. Having arrived a little early for dinner, I decided to enjoy a pint of Palm (a fantastic Belgium white ale - one of the well curated selection of drafts they offer). The room was alive with a good mix of neighborhood locals enjoying cocktails at the obviously popular bar, as well as destination diners enjoying a quiet meal. My dinner companion ran a little late trying to find a place to park, only due to the fact that she wasn’t aware that there is complementary valet parking available for P’cheen patrons. As soon as she arrived, we where immediately sat at a cozy table just across from the open kitchen. The dining room is an unexpected mix of rustic charm and modern sensibility. Across the room on the other side of the bar, there is a lounge area with a grouping of comfy chairs and sofas for enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere, if you prefer. It also has a gallery wall that offers a rotating selection of art from local artists. To begin our meal, we felt obligated to try one of the restaurant’s namesakes, house-made “P’cheen” cocktails (the original name for moonshine). I ordered the Cancun Cletus with strawberry shine, coconut rum, and pineapple, which I must admit I did not enjoy (it tasted like my memories of Panama City Beach, a sour mix of suntan oil and shame). My pink-haired dinner companion ordered the Mountain Man; which much to her dismay, was actually a delicious blend of apple pie moonshine and Irish whiskey, and not an actual bearded man from somewhere in the mountains of North Georgia.

Our meal began with the “Just Trust Us”. This is a unique built to order, one of kind appetizer chosen FOR you BY the chef (that is if you are so bold as to take the chance). We were pleasantly surprised with a baby lamb chop, grilled medium rare over a bed of fresh asparagus, shaved Parmesan, EVOO, and an aged balsamic emulsion. It was a great surprise and totally worth the risk. For a second course, we enjoyed a selection of house-cured charcuterie and cheeses. You can choose three for eight dollars, four for ten, or five for twelve. All the meats are cured in-house and the cheeses are paired deliciously, as well. For my entrée, I enjoyed the Ancho rubbed Pork Shank, served with sweet corn, poblano grits, crispy tobacco onions and ancho jus. The Pork was so tender it literally fell clean off the bone, and while I found it needed a touch of salt and pepper, it was totally delightful. My friend had the Risotto Du Jour, yet another chef’s daily creation. Tonight’s section was a tomato risotto with fresh, hand pulled mozzarella curd (surprisingly the star of the dish) topped with veal flank steak. When it came time for dessert, we chose the Grand Mainer Crème Brule, which was enjoyable…but was completely over shadowed by a surprise from the chef; a Figgie pudding. It was so delicious that we (even though it was July) spontaneously broke into the popular Christmas carol “so bring us some Figgie pudding!” The evening finished, as it began, with a few more ice-cold drafts at the bar while enjoying the company of the Fourth Ward locals who make this their place to unwind and commune. I found the staff to be very accommodating and well informed, and the space to be welcoming and hip. Overall, P’cheen is a fantastic destination whether you are looking to dine, drink, or just decompress.

Believe it or not, the man behind Lucas Entertainment, one of the top five gay porn companies in the world, is showing his gentler side these days and it’s all thanks to the “The Power of Love” – for his brand new baby niece.

I pretty much have everything I want in life. There are certain things that I miss and cannot get back like my mother. Her passing was the most devastating thing in my life and it took me about three years to recover.

While promoting his latest film (also titled “The Power of Love”), we sat down with Michael to discuss why a man who has made a career from being hard is now getting a little softer.

Would you consider having a child yourself?

Michael Lucas… smiling? Your new images show a Michael Lucas rarely seen in media. Is it an attempt at showing your softer side?

She is only three-and-a-half months old so, for the most part, all I can do right now is hold her, give her baths and watch her smile. It’s amazing to see how fast she is becoming aware of things.

Yes, you could say that, but I also think I have just been very happy lately. Everything is going so well in my life. My family, my boyfriend, and my business... I really don’t have anything to complain about.

How do you feel about gay men raising kids? I don’t think it’s about gay men or straight people raising children. I believe it is something that should be done by those who have the desire and passion to do so regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. I have gay friends who have children and they are better parents then some of my straight friends.

If you had a child, would you still do porn? Yes. My film career I’m absolutely proud of.

How would you explain your job to your child? I don’t see why I would need to explain anything. I have a very progressive family, my parents, brother, and my 91-year-old grandmother all know what I do for a living and nobody has a problem with it. Everyone respects and loves me. I don’t see how it will be different when my niece is older. In fact, I bet she will think it’s very cool.

Would you consider yourself a family man? My family has always been a priority in my life. When I left Russia I immediately started supporting them and have been doing so for the last 17 years. I brought my whole family including my parents, grandparents and my brother to America and gave them a nice life.

I consider myself to be a very disciplined person. I go to the gym everyday, don’t smoke or drink, and have never tried drugs. I live a very healthy lifestyle.

As you grow older, is it getting harder to keep your youthful looks? I have a very beautiful family. My father has always looked better then I do.

How do you feel about the idea of growing old? I don’t think anyone wants to grow old, but it is inevitable. That’s why I am trying to enjoy the moment. While I am certainly not afraid of getting older, I do think about it when I spend time with my grandmother. However, seeing her so active and full of life only makes me think positively about the future.

Where can we find you on a Friday night? I don’t have one spot where you can find me. I am usually with family and friends.

What is currently on your bedside table? A book of course! Why, what did you think?
