Necchi tapering device

Page 1

This item is in one of the Necchi-Elna catalogs. Sue told us about this way back in 1955: She said: “a metal knee lever control for the SuperNova machines, to let you control your normal thumb conrilled stitch width lever at the front of the machine. The knee bar lever was attached to the machine with another metal piece that rested against the normal thumb controled width lever on the front of the machine. This would be the lever you would normally move with your thumb while machine is in motion to control the sideways swing of the needle width there, of satin stitching to get a variable tapered satin stitch, such as when making embroidery or monograms. I thought that was interesting, as have only seen and heard of this type of addtional knee lever for this function, on a few commercial type machines instead. Does any one have and use one of these original knee controls for this on their Necchi Super Nova machine now? It looks like it would be pretty neat and I was wondering if it really works good, before I bother to go try to find one. Anyone with stitching experience with this after market extra accesory- could you please post as to how it actually works in use and if it is worth getting? I like to do free motion embroidery and thought this might be neat. Thanks in advance for any info. Sue” It certainly is a great idea but we’ve never heard that anyone has one! I’ll bet if it ever turned up on ebay, it would bring BIG bucks! Sue has a pic of this in her photo album but I wanted to make it more available and obvious for everyone. Polly L.
