How do I register for a Continuing Education course? There are several available options for registration: – Online at DavidsonCCC.edu/ce-registration

How much do courses cost? The cost for each course varies and is listed with each course description. However, prices are subject to change. Visit DavidsonCCC.edu/ce for updated information.

What if my course is cancelled? Insufficient enrollment may force a course to be cancelled or postponed. Please note that fees are not transferable to another course once the course has started.

What is the DCCC refund policy for Continuing Education courses? A full refund of tuition and fees is granted when the student officially withdraws from a course prior to the first course meeting or when the course is cancelled by the College. Except for Self-Supporting and Contact Hour courses (see below), a student who officially withdraws from a course prior to the 10% date of the course will receive a 75% tuition refund, but fees will not be refunded. No refunds are granted for students who withdraw after the 10% date. Continuing Education Self-Supporting Courses are those courses that rely on fee payments from students enrolled in the course for support of the instructional salaries, supplies, and administrative overhead costs. Since these courses are taught only when a sufficient number of individuals register and pay for the course, no refunds will be granted after the course has begun. Continuing Education Contact Hour Courses are those courses that have openentry/open-exit dates and times. These courses may be offered in learning laboratories or may be self-paced in that the individual progresses at his/her own pace. An individual who officially withdraws from a Contact Hour Course within 10 calendar days after first entering the course will receive a 75% tuition refund but no fees will be refunded. No refunds are granted after this time.

Dates Offered: Based on community need Location: Varies Cost: $20.00–40.00 This Emergency Care and Safety Institute CPR and First Aid course teaches the student to recognize the signs and symptoms of heart attacks, strokes, and how to perform CPR for adults, infants, and children, and the use of an AED. Medical Terminology for Interpreters

Date Offered: August 20 Location: Offered Online Cost: $165.00 This course is an introduction to the study of medical words and terms in both English and Spanish. Emphasis is placed on spelling and defining commonly used prefixes, suffixes, root words, their combining forms, and body organization. Program content covers the basic human anatomy and physiology for all systems, laboratory medicine, pharmacology, elements of medical terms and names of major diseases, including terms used in physical exams, operative procedures and diagnosis. Course Requirements: Must score 60 or greater on the Spanish Language Assessment, have a GED/High School Diploma, and be at the appropriate reading level. Medication Aide

Dates Offered: August 7, September 4, October 2, October 30, or November 27 Location: DCCC Main Campus Cost: $80.00 This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified to be a Medication Aide. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students also listed on the Nurse Aide Registry as an NAI should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. Nursing Assistant I

Dates Offered at DCCC Main Campus: August 6 or September 17 Date Offered at Davie Campus: August 27 Cost: $230.35 Nursing Assistant training is an extensive state approved course that includes instruction in both classroom theory and supervised clinical experience. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to register to take North Carolina’s state skills/written competency evaluation through PearsonVue. Conviction of certain crimes under the law may prevent a student from obtaining clinical training and/or employment. Students must be 17 years of age on the first day of class. Phlebotomy

Date Offered: August 20 Location: DCCC Main Campus Cost: $194.25 This course prepares individuals to obtain blood and other specimens for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Course work includes proper specimen collection and handling, communication skills, and maintaining patient data. Graduates may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other health care settings and may be eligible for national certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology as phlebotomy technicians. Course Requirements: Must score 7 or greater for DMA 030 and 136 or greater for the Reading on the NCDAP or verify completion of equivalent college credit. MANUFACTURING & TRANSPORTATION CNC Machining

Date Offered: August 15 Location: DCCC Main Campus, Sinclair 131 Cost: $221.25 This course introduces the programming, setup, and operation of CNC turning centers. Topics include programming formats, control functions, program editing, part production, and inspection. Upon completion, students should be able to manufacture simple parts using CNC turning centers and be prepared to sit for Level 1 NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) testing. Practical Shop Welding

Dates Offered: September 4 - December 4 Location: Davie Campus, Health/Technology 112 Cost: $236.25 This course is designed for incoming students with little or no welding experience who want to learn the basic techniques for depositing sound welds on carbon steel and aluminum. Truck Driver Training

Dates Offered: August 15 – October 9 Location: Davie Campus Cost: $1061.75 The Truck Driver Training curriculum prepares individuals to drive tractor-trailer rigs. This program teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles. Emphasis is on blueprint reading, metallurgy, welding inspection, and destructive and non-destructive testing. Course content will be specific to the welding processes SMAW (stick) and GMAW (MIG). Electronic Notary Public

Dates Offered: October 2 or November 13 Location: DCCC Main Campus Cost: $45.00 Certain legal documents, such as property deeds, and wills and business agreements, require the impartial signature of a Notary Public. A Notary Public screens signers of important legal documents, confirming identities, and more. This 3-hour course prepares a valid commission Notary Public in the state of North Carolina to become a commissioned/appointed eNotary Public. Also, the Electronic Notarization Manual is required and is included in the cost of the class. A copy will be distributed in class. Course Requirements: You must hold a valid commission as a Notary Public in the state of North Carolina in order to take this class. Apprentice: Electrical

Dates Offered: Monday/Wednesday, August 20 – December 19 from 5:30-8:30 pm Location: DCCC Main Campus, Finch 103 Cost: $286.25 The course is specially designed to meet the subject requirements and standards established by the Department of Labor: Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training for electrical mechanics. This course is designed to cover the principles of electrical wiring as it applies to commercial/residential applications. Emphasis is on Ohm’s law, alternating and direct currents, series circuits, parallel circuits and series parallel circuits, use of electrical tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and National Electrical Code will be covered as well. Cost includes all supplies and textbook. Electrical Contractor License Renewal

Dates Offered: September 8 or December 1 Location: DCCC Main Campus Cost: $85.00 This course is a review of the 2017 NEC with updated information on the latest changes. The State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors (Board) requires all persons licensed in Unlimited, Intermediate, Limited, and SP-SFD to attend eight hours per year. Forklift Operator Training

Dates Offered: TBD Location: DCCC Main Campus Cost: $66.25 This forklift operator training is OSHA compliant and taught by a National Safety Council-certified instructor. It is a comprehensive, hands-on program that covers every aspect of forklift training. This training is designed for anyone wishing to learn how to become a Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) operator. Students should arrive to class with sturdy closed-toe and heel shoes, and comfortable clothing for weather conditions because part of the class will be outside.
