Overnight: Hotel Borg, Reykjavik Meals: NIL DAY 03 12th DEC (FRI) REYKJAVIK / THINGVELLIR / GEYSIR / HELLA This morning, take your Super Jeeps out of city to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You will walk through the geological fault known as Almannagjá (Europe and North America tectonic plates pulling apart), to the place where Europe's oldest national legislative assembly, the Icelandic Althing, was established in AD 930.. On the way we stop in Haukadalur Valley at the Geothermal Area. Witness the spouting Geyser “Strokkur” eject a giant plume of steam at intervals of 5 minutes. The entire area is actually a thermal field of hot springs, bubbling pools and spattering steam vents. Have a special tasting of freshly baked hot spring bread, served with Icelandic butter, boiled egg (also boiled in the geothermal area) and herring, served with a glass of Geysir Schapps at freezing point. We will then head up to the glacier Langjökull, where you will experience an exhilarating glacier experience driving 2-seater Snowmobiles. (No experience needed but driving license required) End your sightseeing at Gullfoss waterfall, considered by many as the most beautiful in Iceland. Thereafter, check in to your hotel and opportunity to spot the dancing Aurora!

DAY 04 13th DEC (SAT) HELLA / THORSMORK / HELLA Today, experience once more the power of the super jeeps in Thorsmörk Canyon. This area of pristine beauty is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles due to the many meandering streams. A truly beautiful and rugged landscape where glacier tongues pitted with volcanic ash spill down over the jagged peaks of the surrounding mountains.

On the way we will also stop at the wonderful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, only one of its kinds where you can actually walk behind. In the evening, you can have the opportunity to spot the aurora again or relax in one of the hotel’s 3 hot tubs.

Overnight: Hotel Ranga, Hella Meals: Breakfast & Dinner DAY 05 14th DEC (SUN) HELLA / SOUTH COAST / KIRKJUBAERKLAUSTUR Head to the south coast where vast black lava beaches as far as the eye can see, massive waterfalls tumbling down with all their force, columnar basalt, fascinating rock formations and enchanting glaciers are all within arm’s reach. See Skógafoss waterfall, another 60m high and 25m wide powerful waterfall. Visit Dyrholaey, a 120-metre high rock, home to many types of birds, among them puffins. We will also drive to glacier Sóheimajökull. It is a safe and easy walk on crampons up onto the ice field - a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses, and you will learn about the glacier and the effect of the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010 on the glacier and its surroundings. We will then head to Kirkjubaerklaustur and overnight at Hotel Laki.

Tonight, you have another opportunity to spot the northern lights.

DAY 06 15th DEC (MON) KIRKJUBAERKLAUSTUR (EXCURSION) Today, a short drive will take us to Vatnajokull, the largest glacier in Europe, which has various tongues flow along steep mountainsides, gently dominating the region’s coastline. After a short glacier hike at Skaftafell area we will find ourselves in an ice cave. This is unique and unlike anything else in the world. For 2hrs you will wonder in one or more caves, in blue ice, filled with magical lights. Our next stop is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where huge, aqua-blue icebergs dot this mystical space. This area was the setting for the opening scenes of the James Bond film, “Die Another Day”. You might find the lagoon frozen at this time of the year, but the magic is still there no matter what. We then return to Kirkjubaerklaustur.
